You either can try UPS MyChoice and try to find by reference number as stated previously, (MyChoice will not work for shipments to business addresses unless you have the tracking number - can't find it by reference.) Otherwise once it is placed on the plane your order should show shipped with a tracking number.
Ah well it's not shipping to my house, it has to ship to the account holder, so I'll just be waiting for email confirmation of shipping.
Just go to this link https://www.ups.com/WebTracking/track?loc=en_us and then choose track by reference. Type in your phone number (no hyphens) that you have on your Apple account and fill in Country and zip code then choose the track tab

Who is gonna leave it at the UPS hub for pickup? I've never done it and is it a better option that will not incur any delay?
I want to know this as well. It's my first time trying this out so when is it best to change it on the UPS website? The day before? or when.. Can somebody who has done itlet us know how they did it?
Mine has been Preparing For Shipment for a 9/16 delivery, but neither UPS MyChoice nor Track By Reference show an incoming package. I might be one of those who got a unit allocated from a US warehouse rather than the factory in China, and probably won't get tracking info until a day or two prior to delivery
Having mine shipped to work, since I'll be here all day and would miss the driver at my house. Luckily, I have a cool receptionist
I did it for the Apple Watch, and was able to pick it up at the local hub first thing in the morning. Sign up for My Choice and customize delivery on the website, or give them a call, but do it at least a day prior to delivery or sooner
Thanks, I will try it at a later time. Right now I am unable to, gives me an error when I try to modify the delivery.
I did this last year, the hub is just a couple miles from work. Instead of loading the phones on the truck that morning, they just leave them in the warehouse for you to pick up as soon as they open. This is a great option since Apple couldn't get my address changed from my home to my work.
I did this for the release of the iPhone 6 Plus in 2014. A great alternative to waiting in queue at an Apple Store, however, be prepared for all of those doing the same thing. I held mine at the closet UPS location which was right across the street from the main warehouse and there were probably like 50 other people doing the same thing as time went by. The UPS guy who was supposed to bring it over, was late only adding to the agonizing wait. Luckily I was the second or third person there. Great small scale interactions with other Apple fans. But beware, YMMV depending on location.
I think this year I may just route it to a different location and which usually receives their deliveries about midday.
Cheaper to drop ship. No need for warehouse, preparing labels, etc. All the logistics are handled by a third party.

This happens every year. Apple been shipping new iPhones from China for awhile now. Most of their inventory if not all there. Straight from the factory where they are made.
