Hello Everyone,
iPhone 7 Plus will be my very first pre ordering of an iPhone (jumping from a 5S) so I am not sure about what time is right to get it on time. I will probably prefer the Space Grey or rumored Space Black 128GB 7 Plus.
Based on the history and experience, can someone please tell me if I will still be able to reserve my phone if I pre order in the afternoon, if not midnight, of the pre order start date?
I don't worry too much about launch day receiving but anything between 8-10 days of slippage is also acceptable.

Thanks,

It really depends on inventory. Last year, 5 days after pre-order you could still get it on launch day. 2 years ago with the iPhone 6, pre-orders completely sold out within a few hours. Typically, the non-'s' variant phone has lower inventory and higher demand. Pre-orders go live at 12:01AM PDT. If you wait till 12PM PDT, you might be waiting 3-4 weeks for your phone.

It's rumored to be 9/9 for pre-order right? So Thursday night when the clock strikes midnight (to make it 9/9)?

Rumor is 9/10. It's typically 3 days after event. Event is a Wednesday so it will be Saturday 12:01AM.

If you want the phone on launch day then you shouldn't risk it. I know last year's didn't sell out right away but the year before it did. Even though people are speculating the 7 will not be in high demand you have to remember that the 6 WAS in high demand so now 2 years later a lot of people will be looking to upgrade. Personally I will be up at 2AM (Central time) to order my 7+

It is always the Friday after the keynote, or at least has been for the past number of launches. Preorders have started at midnight PDT / 2 am CDT / 3 am EDT through the Apple Store. I remember not getting into the store until an hour after launch for the iPhone 6/6+. Then it would crash when I went to checkout. It was in very high demand though because of the size change.

Last year for the 6s/6s+ I was in right away, checked out and was back in bed within 5 mins.

Its not always, as last year proved its not always.

Right it was on the Saturday wasn't it? I stand corrected. I remember hating getting up most years at 1:55 am on a Friday morning to preorder and then trying to fall back to sleep.

I actually like the idea of preorders on a Saturday morning. I can go back to bed and sleep in.

Completely agree! We will find out this year. It was either a Saturday because of the Wednesday event (normally they are Tuesday) or it was a Saturday because of 9/11 was Friday. I still think it was because of the Wednesday event.

My gut is saying it'll be a friday preorder, but Im hoping for a saturday cause I'll be on a plane back from Japan on friday.

I wouldn't lose sleep over it, Apple will manipulate the public as usual to attempt to create buzz and demand. But iPhones are everywhere, it's no big deal.

I think it's usually 8 am GMT. Last year I was on holiday and the Internet was crap. I had to go and find somewhere with decent internet before I could make my pre- order. I managed to get a launch day iPhone about 3 hours after pre-orders went live.
