look what happened to the ipad this year, that's what's going to happen. it'd be weird for them to price the same configurations differently for the iphone and ipad.
They can change the price gaps and that's assuming they're dropping the 64GB model. When iPhone 6 came out 16-32gb got changed from a $100 difference to a $50 difference.

This is definitely something that needs to happen, especially if they want to keep up with the rest of the market. Samsung has already moved to 32GB for the base model S7. Not to mention, I feel that the way iCloud is set-up now is not intuitive at all, so why would I pay $0.99 for storage that is hard to access?

No. Please keep current price level and raise base storage to 64GB.
This will shock the market and yet "another innovation".
"You know, innovation." --Craig. ;)

Not sure if I totally agree. The base price of the newest iPad used to be $499, but is now $599. This is because they just dropped the 16GB entry-level option which came with the lower price tag, forcing buyers to the 32GB option for the price they would have paid anyways.

This is one of the reasons why a friend of mine, a long time Apple evangelist, left the iOS platform to Android this week.
Apple and all the nonsense games it plays with customers...
It's 2016. We should be starting at
64GB. Not 32GB.

I love the inclusion of the remarks about iCloud. As if that really matters in this discussion. People want storage on their phones. YES - they like to backup and have things stored externally. But you still need significant space on your actual device these days - especially if you take photos and videos.

Well, im above 32GB now, so makes no difference for me other that having ~80GB free.

"Yay", now everyone can rejoice about the model they weren't going to buy anyway.

My mother would buy this is a heartbeat. I have been telling her to buy the next size up after she first got a 8GB iPhone 4 and than a 16GB iPhone 5C and after that a iPhone 6 with 16GB. she actually regretted getting the 16GB iPhone 6 after I helped her one day with some issues with syncing it to her computer and wanted to know if she could sell the phone for a reasonable price and get a 64GB iPhone 6. Honestly a 32GB base would be a blessing for her since she would love to have the extra space. I would bet more people would love this option. Personally I would go with the 256GB option should they release it. Some people just want the cheapest iPhone.

Although the removal of the 16GB tier seems inconsequential to those who have long since moved onto higher storage capacity iPhone models, it's no doubt been a suitable enough solution for lower-capacity users who take advantage of Apple's iCloud system. Anyone who signs up for iCloud automatically gets 5GB of free storage, but users can
upgrade
to an impressive 50GB/month for $0.99 to massively offset the limitations of a smaller storage iPhone device.

How exactly will iCloud storage of whatever size help me to overcome the limited space on my device ? Should I install apps in the cloud ?

Nothing compelling here.
This year I'll ride out my 2yr contract and then enjoy a lower monthly bill after my iPhone 6 128GB is paid off.
iPhone 7? What's there to get excited about ? Slightly better cameras, slightly thinner or maybe not, slightly larger entry storage, dongle headphone jack? corner hugging antenna lines... gimme a break.

I'll reconsider when there's an OLED screen, microSD slot, 4GB RAM, swappable battery and 50% better battery life.
Like that's ever gonna happen.
