My storage requirements have hugely dropped now that everything is stored on the cloud.

My iPhone 3GS had 32 GB of storage. It was completely full - had to pick and choose what to store on it.
My iPhone 4S had 64 GB of storage. I used around 50 GB of it.
My iPhone 6+ has 128 GB of storage. I have 29 GB used.

I'm thinking my next iPhone will probably be a 32 GB. I can get better at offloading all my pictures and videos rather than storing them locally.

Are you using iCloud Photos? I am finding that it isn't very aggressive with removing local copies of pictures taken.

This is the least they could do for releasing a 3 year old design and calling it "new".

Stock holders prob won't be very happy though since apple is losing out on basically a $100 upgrade that cost them fractions of a penny.

End result slightly more phones sold for way less profit. I understand why they waited so long to do this.

if 16 32 64 is as 128 256 is for 32 64 128

then what * is * in 128 64 16 256 *

answer = who cares

This is really sad if this is true....

A new report out of Nikkei today corroborates previous rumors that Apple is moving to a three year mega cycle release for the iPhone, "largely due to smartphone functions having little room left for major enhancements," not to mention "a slowing market" in the industry hampering iPhone sales this year.

ATM, I really cant see a reason to upgrade from my iPhone 6+ (not 6s+). I don't see the iPhone 7(anything) to be a reason either unless there is some major wow thats not yet leaked.
The biggest reason is more ram. I've got the 6+ and the lack of ram drives me crazy. I almost bought the 6S+ for that very reason but was holding out for the 7. I will still buy the 2017 phone but I can't stand my 6+ Any longer.

Also I switched to T-Mobile and their coverage sucks so I really what a phone that supports band 12.

Apple needs to do the same thing as google and drop the monthly fees on iCloud. They can charge for full resolution photos fort those that want it, and can do reduced resolution like Google Photos for free. They also need to bring back iPhoto... the photos app SUCKS!

This is why a friend of mine, a long time Apple evangelist, left the iOS platform to Android this week.
Apple and all the nonsense games it plays with customers...
It's 2016. We should be starting at
64GB. Not 32GB.
He left Apple over $100 for more storage? Clearly he's missing the point of using an Apple product.

I agree - My company buys my iPhone every 2 years & I'm one of those who really likes have the new physical design - If this 3 year cycle happens then my next iPhone that is the redesigned version will not be until 2020 (1st world problems I know).

But I'm really hoping that Apple doesn't know something that the rest of us don't & that the carriers aren't scheming to up the contract periods to 36 months????

I can't believe all you Apple complainers. Before my first iPhone, I had a Palm Treo. It crashed every day. I complained to Palm and all they would say is it must be some program I installed that is making it crash. I removed all the programs installed and still the same thing and Palm wouldn't do anything about it. A friend of mine switched to Samsung last year from his iPhone 5. At first, he loved it then it started crashing. He called up Samsung and guess what? They said it must be an app he installed that is causing it to crash. He removed all the apps and it is still crashing. No Updates to fix it. So now he will switch back to an iPhone when the iPhone 7 comes out.

There already is a 64GB iPhone and it's just $100 more. Nobody should change platforms because of this. Would you go back to Windows Vista, if you could save a hundred bucks?

I think you overestimate the needs of many basic users. I have multiple in the family, and all of them are fine with 32 GB.

Yes storing pictures may well be an over estimation.
No reason not to put in 64GB, the cost is negligible.

bitch please they will drop 16 GB but charge an additional 100$ so in the end you get 32GB instead of 64GB
Agreed. If the iPad Pro is any indication, they are just going to increase the price by $50. If not, I'll believe it when I see it.
