I'm thinking exactly the same thing, and with the dual lens camera on the 7 Plus, it will probably take up more storage per photo.

Are you opting for the 4.7 or 5.5 iPhone? I'm not quite sure yet, as I will let the Keynote to make my decision.

So they can sell the new Apple TV with 4k support. That's what Apple has been doing the past years. Give you just enough to stay on the top but never enough that you dont need to upgrade for 5 years. Remember how long iPhones had 1 GB of Ram when everyone else had 2-4 or sometimes even 6 gig (with worse performance i might add).
Welcome to the world of modern consumerism, it's been like this all along.

And what about the 7+? 2 sensors, so 8k at 60fps? Or 4k at 120fps?
That would really keep the competition busy for at least a year.

It would be the 64 bit soc story all over again.

Now to have something that can display that content...

1 question. If you played something like Pokémon that uses realtime video, would it be smoother and less grainy at 4k 60fps on-screen?

The 4k 60 fps, could it be Apple made it possible to enhance AR on the iphone 7?

I've got an iPhone 6 but I have no desire to upgrade to this whatsoever.

Lots of people saying that even the 6S is worth an upgrade from the 6 after using it. Another generation later even more so. There will be hundreds of tiny improvements here and there that you won't know about by looking at spec sheets but only by using the device itself, so don't count yourself out yet.

I think we can expect an updated version of AppleTV with 4K support this fall.
It doesn't make sense to sell iPhones capable of shooting 4K video and not being able to play them on the Apple TV.

That's exactly how I view the iPhone 7. There are at least a dozen incremental upgrades being established into the iPhone 7, which to me, is worth the upgrade. It's always the minor improvements that add up more than the 'Major' improvements in some respects.

The SE is already here......

And it comes with a magical feature - a dedicated headphone socket!

I want the bigger screen though....I shall definately consider the 6S once the 7 is out. Depends if apple impress me with the 7 enough to forgive the lack of headphone jack.

I hope that's a s/w upgrade. Not that my TV does 4k anyway:)

I tried with my iphone 6s, and when i am making a video realtime, the display is a lot smoother on 1080 120fps, is a lot smoother than 4k@30-fps. So for AR a higher fps of background does make quite difference. I could see a 7+ doing 1080p @240fps. So native screen res at 240fps. Could make a real difference on AR apps.

Not to mention that users previously on the 64 gb model will likely upgrade to the 128 gb version rather than downgrade to the 32 gb one.

More profits for Apple.

Can someone explain to me what is the use of 60fps, please?
Cinema format is 24fps, TV is 30fps in US and 25fps in Europe
48fps on Hobbit wasn't really well received so that only reason for 60fps I see is to have slow motion effect in which 60fps doesn't really give you that much slow motion anyway.

So, what is the real and true benefit to someone wanting to shoot 60fps? Cinema was on 24fps for ages and apparently there was always reason for it so what am I missing?

And yet, Apple's recently released Apple TV cannot play back 4K video ... and most of their macs have integrated video cards incapable of properly editing 4K video.

Apple TV 4 can play 4K video. And the entire Mac line is due for upgrades. You will get your 4K soon enough.

I don't know about 6S users but this is shaping up to be a great upgrade for those of us on the 6 or below.

Very true.

But personally I'm still doubting. My iPhone 6 still operated perfectly and since I'm make most use of calling people, sending sms messages en scheduling appointments with my clients I'm no rush. All-tough this upgrade is great I'm not that much appealed by it's design which looks a bit to familiar with the iPhone 6 lineup.
On top of that, knowing that the next iPhone will be the 10th anniversary iPhone model with a total new design standard I'm more willing to skip this model.
Especially with the knowledge that I can work with a new iPhone model for three years. And when I know that a whole new design after the iPhone 8 comes out could take another three years I'm more willing to wait knowing that the next iPhone after the iPhone 8 will be an another whole new design.

Yea, i like my 6 Plus it's a great device with brilliant battery life. And if the 5.5" Plus model get's a dual lens camera, it will be a great extra feature! obviously we will have to wait and see what Apple announces at the keynote tomorrow, but a dual lens camera has been rumoured for a while, it has also leaked a few times as well. It's going to be more about what the dual lens can do and what Apple will do with it. I'm looking forward to the keynote tomorrow! Are you not a fan of the bigger 5.5" Plus versions?

The writer says the black iPhone will be Matte Black and feature a Matte  Logo rather than a shiny one. If that's the case, that's my next colour after having had white and silver since the 5s.

Unless they keep charging $100 for each storage tier, in that case everybody wins. But I'm afraid they'll charge $150, so Tim Cook wins

On the subject of shooting higher than 60fps on an iPhone; doesn't the iPhone screen have a 60hz screen refresh rate, as do all Macs? What's the point?

Because it looks great. I'm used to seeing all my iPhone videos in 60fps. If I record anything at 30fps it looks really bad to me, it depends on what you're used to I guess.

I'll stick with my 6s, especially since I use my Momentum 2's daily at work and I don't want to have to deal with adapters... that's if Lightning even has an analogue out? Otherwise I'd have to then buy something like Lightning to USB and then plug in my Dragonfly Red.... which is too much plugged into my phone just to have my headphones working.

I know Bluetooth is good now, but it sucks when I'm outside and it's windy, why I need wired as well.

If it's the same price as the 64GB was, then Apple won't be making anymore than they would of done last year. I'm interested to see what the price of the 256GB will be.
