I have had my iphone6 since November 2014. I have never once used my headphone jack, it's probably filled with lint. I would be fine if Apple removed the jack as long as they provide the dongle adapter for those that do need the port.
The dual speakers aren't even that important to me, I would rather they filled the space with a larger battery.

Everyday, someone at the gym blasts the Jack U + Justin Bieber track on their phone. If you've ever listened to "Where are U now", you'll know my pain. My assertion is warranted.

I am more concerned of those people who speak on speakers while holding the phone close to their mouth with one hand, and yell because they think that the other person can't hear them.
You know them, you have seen them. They're many, and they replicate.

stereo speakers..

if you listen to music regularly through iPhone's loud speaker, you're just a douchebag.

EDIT: referring to that idiot that blasts the Jack U + Justin Bieber tune on his iPhone at the gym every day.

Agreed! I take the train frequently and this is a common occurrence. Plus when I took the train at 5:00am to the airport, thanks to the guy who was blasting the music while most people were trying to sleep/relax while on the way to work/wherever.

This is why I always have a cheap pair of dollar store headphones with me at all times. So when I come across a douchebag thats doing that, I can take them out and throw them at him.

Considering that Bluetooth headphones have an affordable range line, I'm fine with removing the headphone jack

Me and my team decided that we needed to drop 3.5 jack because we want to increase the experience of listening to music. With bluetooth option, we don't need earphones to listen to music. We got cars with bluetooth installed. It will give us that loudness and clearness when we listen to the music. If you want to go to the gym with bluetooth, you can just bring your car with you. Incase another person interferes with your bluetooth, that driver will able to listening to your music. We can share our music.

As we made this iphone thinner, we were proudly able to make the a10 chip thinner. Eventually, we will have iphones without A chips and we can eventually out do with memory chips." -Jony Ive, the man who's obsessed with thinness.

So what will be the 'wow factor' in iPhone 7?
Since even wireless charging is still in maybe phase now right?

So a thinner, with stereo speaker and waterproof iPhone 7..
That'd be a.. great.. sell..

the wow factor will be

"wow, i will never buy this"

Another thing to be sure of is that NOTHING stays at the top forever.

Yup and if they don't make some major updates to ios to make it cleaner and more efficient user experience, and fix apple music and other syncing/server issues I'll be marching back to a android handset next year. How does apple think a spring board of icons auto arranged to the top of each page elegant and user friendly? But we HAD to have pictures that move. So much more important. Love to be able to set my own tones to third party app notifications too but that also seems to difficult.

The solution is not to provide a dongle.

But sell you it, for $39.99

industry standard doesn't mean anything. So it is Windows, so it was blackberry. So it was the floppy disk, so it was the monochrome monitor. And before all of that, the horse was the industry standard.
I want them to keep the 3.5mm jack, but saying that they shouldn't remove it because it's an industry standard is preposterous.

The 3.5mm version has been around since 1964 and the larger version around since 1878. There are been many versions available, i remember sony, the kind of propriety sockets had some mini and micro jacks that were total flops. I don't think apple will be stupid enough to drop the 3.5mm jack as the adapter required to adapt anything that is analogue to it would require a DAC in the wire, would be bulky, defeat the point of removing the DAC from the iPhone (to save space) cause massive customer dissatisfaction.

I think it would also totally devalue the brand as music forward, although the music app in iOS has already done a lot of damage. Things move forward but there is zero reason to remove it without having an open standard or alternative that still places the DAC inside the iPhone.

If apple does anything it will be an internal DAC and an adapter from lighting to 3.5mm, that is as small as the usb to lighting adapter currently available. If they bring in wireless charging as well, then the whole thing makes sense and no one will be angry as you can charge and listen. If apple has any other configuration of this i.e. DAC in the adapter, they will be killing their sales. Even me, who is into the ecosystem would think twice about upgrading and probably put off until it is put back or just plain buy a different phone. I don't mind a tiny adapter with wireless power but dropping it with compromises is gonna go down like a led balloon.

I hope they do quad speakers like on the iPad Pro. That would be something to definitely make me consider switching from Android.

Since I'm a natural born a**hole, I just stand next to those types and join in the conversation.

If you're going to broadcast it, it is public domain.

I wouldn't mind better/louder speakers, better camera, more water resistant design, better battery life, and a stronger screen.

I'm neutral on the headphone port, but I'm willing to part with it, especially if it makes it more water resistant and gives more space for a bigger speaker.

So stereo speakers versus headphone jack?

I choose headphone jack, I find the 6s speaker good for my needs

Also find the 6s water resistant enough, if we are losing the jack I want apple to market the phone for use underwater - like how Sony had those ads of people taking pictures underwater. Full fledged water proof, then I'm okay with losing the jack

Continuing that line of thought, if I can surf with it so I don't miss work calls, I buy day one. Figured they'd make a cellular watch with that capability before phone though

In general terms, I would agree. However, before trashing this we should look at the solution. It might be the most brilliant thing since the 3.5mm or the most awful thing since the Newton.

They will not include an adapter with the new iPhone. They will most likely include a pair of Lightning headphones, just like they include a set of headphones now. Including an adapter is contrary to their intent, and will only encourage customers to take the cheapest route, instead of upgrading to wireless, or Lightning.

Stereo speakers are ridiculous on such a small device, especially if they remove the 3.5mm jack to do it. The quality is horrible, and the placement too close together for any meaningful stereo field, especially if they are both on the end and watching something in Landscape. About the only thing it will accomplish is making the sound slightly louder, and drain the battery faster driving two DACs and amps.

I hope they do quad speakers like on the iPad Pro. That would be something to definitely make me consider switching from Android.

Maybe that would be possible on the 7 Plus, using the same quality speakers they are using now. But there's no way they would be able to squeeze anything like that into the 7, unless they have managed to seriously miniaturize everything in the 6S. And eliminating the 3.5mm jack just to do something like this would be beyond stupid, to say nothing of not increasing the battery capacity instead.

Bye iPhone....
It will flop... dual camera ONLY for the Plus model and no headphone jack on any and no AMOLED screen ? Hello Note 6
Lmao, it will be touted as revolutionary and smash sales records, if history is any indication. I'm with you on the Note 6 though (or S7 edge+)
