Thinner, thinner....

Could they counterweight the bottom of the iPhone? Seriously. I have the 6+. Half the time, it feels like it's going to fall out of my hand because it feels top heavy in distribution. It could be the exact same weight from top to bottom, but if there were a little more substantial weight at the bottom, it would help in holding it.
The iP6+ is orientation neutral, just like the iPad, and unlike all other iPhones - so there is no real top and bottom on that device.

Wish they would use the ability to make the case more drop proof and scratch proof and have a larger battery. I'm tired of continually getting "the thinnest phone evar!" With "the strongest phone ever!" As it is we just have to keep getting new cases to cover up the beautiful, thin device, fully negating any notion of the being thin.

Phones are too big of a part of our lives with Apple Pay, home automation and well, a phone- that we need something reliable and that can take a fall or two so that we can rest easy that this extremely device will always reliably be here for us.

"Today we're excited to announce iPhone 7 - our least holdable iPhone, ever" - then it slips out of Phil's hand while he's walking out onstage to talk about it.

Let me add that my iPhone 6 is the first iPhone that I've owned that HAS to have a case on it to hold it confidently. It's scary using it without something with some traction.

Maybe it should be an option, like for shirts and jeans?

iPhone svelte, 6 mm with 12 hour battery life
iPhone classic, 7.5 mm with 24-hour battery life
iPhone obese, 9 mm with 36-hour battery life

When will Apple finally upgrade it 4.7" iPhone to HD 1080p screen resolution? It been at a 1334 x 750 resolution screen with a 326ppi pixel density(iPhone 4). I know it cost Apple $ to do it but it going on model 6S from 4! That is 6 years ago but still the same pixel density!

The A9 should give Apple the opportunity to finally increase the screen resolution on the 6S since it will take about 30% less juice to power itself from the battery and a new screen resolution should take place with the 6S or 7 model!

The iPhone 8 "must have" accessory, so you can actually hold it without losing your fingers. Makes one-handed use a thing of the past tho

So this would be the 10th generation iPhone, but do you guys think Apple will do something "big" for it or the 2017 iPhone to coincide with the 10th Anniversary of it?

This is pretty funny that we are already seeing predictions for the iPhone 7 before the 6s comes out. This is getting ridiculous. This device probably doesn't really concretely exist yet, so how could these predictions even be made?!

this statement couldn't be more far from the truth.

there are of course prototypes (that exist in bits and pieces) and they are in fact using these prototype components in fact in precisely the way that this thread's stated purpose relates: to decide gross dimensions, making estimates for how far miniture-ization of components needs to take place to make those stated targets dimensions of each component needs to be, as well as to get a fix for performance (including battery) that reflects their targets specs.

Forget a thinner device. How about a bigger battery? The iPhone is too thin as it already is. I have to use a case with my 6+ just so I can get a good grip on it and not feel like I'm going to drop it.

If they are going to make a thinner iphone they should have Matte grip at the back of the phone so it doesn't slip out of your hand.

Soon the case will weigh more than the phone.

I prefer thin and light and am quite happy with the battery life, of which I never see 0% as I charge every night anyway, so a larger battery wouldn't benefit me.

And yet another mistake from Apple. This company is out of ideas. Get rid of Cook and bring in a young, counter-culture kind of CEO who is going to innovate and push the envelope. Maps, Watch, Music, Beats acquisition. All 4 which would have been either axed, or delayed by Jobs. This company is desperately trying to hang on to it's $100+ share price, and it's willing to sacrifice it's principles and long term growth for some short-term revenue. Apple stock is heading toward $85 within the next year. Book it.

Try this:

Put the iPhone 6 on a smooth flat surface.
Try to grip it on the sides using your fingers and thumb.

You'll be lucky if you can pick it up! More likely you'll need to resort to tricks like holding it on one side and sliding your thumb underneath. Or sliding it off the table.

People with tiny fingers may fare better.

My point is that iPhones are thin enough already. Probably too thin.

Lol, Same story every two years.

1: MR article says the next iPhone will be thinner
2: Forum members say iPhone is thin enough already, moans about battery life
3: iPhone releases, thinner, lighter and with batter battery life
4: Everyone buys one anyway and is happy with their purchase

Everyone changes their mind when they see one and pick it up for the first time.

Clicky-screen-gate.

And: if still the front camera will be not in the center axis of the device body: moon-effect-in-front-camera-gate, guaranteed.

I have both effects gates on my iPhone 6 (my very first, and the last iPhone). Keeping in mind messes like: maps app, music app (and bamboo-Beats union), useless Apple pay, always-unfinished iCloud Drive etc., I will give a chance to Commodore PST now.

You are wise.

For whom, Apple is making things thinner? I don't think anyone wants their products any thinner than it is, especially in exchange of battery life. I wonder if Ive actually uses iPhone.
