That does seem like an interesting idea, though I still don't use the full 64gb after years of use, so I don't know whether that is their actual plan. It's probably more to do with the fact that more storage space means Apple can fit more apps (which they earn revenue from) and more lossless songs (rumor about Apple introducing a new format for Apple music) onto user's devicesThe more I think about it, the more I think I understand why Apple is only going 32/128/256 now.
Basically, Apple was waiting for the users with 64gb iPhones to adjust their usage habits such that they are using more than 32gb of storage. This way, they won't (or can't) downgrade to a 32gb iPhone as that would in turn represent a net loss in margins for Apple. The only real option they would have is to opt for the 128gb model, which in turn gives Apple another reason to increase the base price of their devices.
I have no idea who might want a 256gb iPhone (much less actually need that much storage) though.
You don't need to have used the full 64 gb, just more than 32 gb. I have 16 gb spare on my 64 gb iPhone. No way 32 would be enough for me. I would have to opt for the 128 gb model. That does seem like an interesting idea, though I still don't use the full 64gb after years of use, so I don't know whether that is their actual plan. I'm using about 28 right now, but most of it is saved spotify playlists. If I undownloaded the ones I don't listen to, I would have a lot more space and could easily use a 32gb device. But I'm not everyone, and storage use is so varied it's impossible to generalize it.You don't need to have used the full 64 gb, just more than 32 gb. I have 16 gb spare on my 64 gb iPhone. Lol yea
Agreed although if we can keep prices at even the same current price points I could be happy. I'm one of those ones who has to commit to a 20-some month payment plan as is so if I can't do that and have it be worth it or affordability is an issue I may as much as I love Apple have to say bye bye once my 6 becomes a brick
So what?
You don't speak for everyone. I'm on a 16gb Nexus 5 and I'm perfectly fine with it, but I have to admit that it is a limitation for MANY people.
In related news iOS 10 will need at least 13 gigs of available space to update your phone![]()
Good news I installed iOS 10 public beta on my 16GB iPhone 6. No signs of bricking, lagging, or any other kind of slowing down. So your 6 should be good for another year.
It didn't require that much memory when I installed iOS 10 beta on my 16GB iPone 6 OTA. I had a little over 3GB free when I started the installation and have a little over 2GB free after the installation. The installation worked fine with no errors and iOS 10 is running on my 16GB iPhone 6 with no problems or slowdowns.
