As long as they don't use it as an excuse to increase the price this will be fine.

There have been lots of comments in this thread talking about raising the base-price of the iPhone.

While Apple certainly could... I think it would be a bad idea. It would be going in the opposite direction.

Tech is supposed to get cheaper over time... not more expensive. The base-price of the iPhone has remained $650 for many years. Staying the same price is somewhat tolerable.

But more expensive? Horrible.

The Macbook Air started life as a 13" laptop for $1800... and it was $2800 with an SSD.

Now the 13" Macbook Air with an SSD is $1000.

While a phone and a computer are two different types of devices altogether... lower prices is the general trend I would expect from ALL tech devices in this day and age. I'd argue that the Macbook Air has received hundreds of changes over the last 8 years... and its price actually went down.

People are already questioning whether the price of an iPhone is justified anymore.

Raising the price would give people even more reasons to look at alternatives.

In short:

Same price... meh
Lowering the price... great!
Raising the price for no reason... unacceptable

You know, there are people that do not install dozens of apps. I am only using 11GB, and I keep videos and songs on the phone that I should actually remove. 16GB in no way gives me issues.
Apple is just being greedy. 16gb is just too little and it has been the base for many years. Just like Apple still selling 5400 rpm HD's it's about time to give the user a better experience.

I certainly hope it's true. It would make it much more likely that I'd upgrade to a 7 when it comes out. That would be a decisive factor for me.

No, they don't.

No, they don't.

Even so dropbox is like 1.5GB after you do certain things. iCloud being 5gb is kind of a joke. I use it to sync contacts and such and that is about it. If it was higher I would use photos with it, but am not willing to pay just for that.

Then use Dropbox…

Dropbox is also only 5GB, and it's a P.O.S.

Try putting a PDF on Dropbox, and then go to the App, and hit "share", you don't get the PDF, you only get a link, which is crap at the elemental level.

If what you want is photos, then nobody beats free, have fun with Google Photos.

My Dropbox is 12 GB without me paying for it or doing anything else. And I have no problems putting PDFs on it. If you want to open a PDF on iDevice you click "open in application" and choose iBooks. The whole point of Dropbox is that your files are IN it. I upload stems for my songs for remixers there, I'm very pleased to get short links rather than somehow having to transfer 500MB files AGAIN.

If you like transferring big files, WeTransfer is your friend.

I refuse to believe Apple would ship iPhone 7 without a headphone jack. What a joke. They must know by now that no one wants a thinner phone at the cost of battery life or a headphone jack. If anything, they should keep the new phone basically the same but make it thicker with a 3 day battery and tough enough to survive without a case. That would actually be an upgrade. Removing the headphone jack is obviously a stupid idea that should get somebody fired just for thinking. If this rumour is true, Apple will pay for this by losing a lot customers, beginning with me. They want people to buy new headphones or use an adapter? Well, all I can say is the S7 or HTC 10 ain't so bad. Neither is Android anymore. Oh yeah and base memory should be 3GB RAM and 64GB Flash storage. It's frickin' 2016.

Macbook Pros became more expensive when they introduced retina displays.
The retina Macbook is more expensive than the Macbook Air.
In response to flat sales of the iPad, Apple increased the price of the latest 9.7 model by $100. The storage capacity of the entry level went up to 32GB.

In these examples the case can be made that the price increase/differences were worth it because of the increased capabilities, capacity, functionality. But from the customer's perspective, more money was going out of their pocket.

It is not unreasonable to expect Apple to raise the price on the iPhone, especially when they have made the SE available. Apple is no longer tied to a single tier of phone which means that they can pursue a new level of premium-ness at a comparable level of price.

Just hope the starting price stays the same, however anything else would be utterly foolish by Apple.
This is long overdue.

Oh I completely agree, but Apple seems to be doing it anyway. IF they manage to pull it off, it would be great for business as people would use lightning headphones that will not work on android phones, forcing people to stay with iPhone or lose all their accessories

I hope you're right about the headphone jack, but with so many rumor sources I think it's probably going to happen. I was recently on a United airlines flight when I switched my Beats earbuds from my iPhone to my iPad for a movie, then popped them into my Dell laptop for a bit, and finally plugged them into the seat headphone jack while I watched CNN during the flight. What did all these things have in common ... a universal 3.5mm jack that "simply works". It worked across all these devices and even with the audio jack on an airline, but Apple in their moronic wisdom is going to take this amazing standard away from us. Fired ... someone there should be shot for even contemplating this bonehead move.

1) It's antiquated
2) Wireless is the future
3) Thinner is better
4) I don't use it*

Did I cover all fanboi arguments or miss something? /s

* I use it daily, it's what some people here say – "I don't use therefore it must go".

I think you left off "It's the same as the DVD drive in MacBooks"

32 GB is actually sufficient for me although I have a pair of 64 GB micro-sd cards in my two Android phones that only cost about $20 each with about over 8 GB left for each of them.

Only going to use iPhone 7 for its camera and games. I prefer MX Player and QuickPic on Android, so I prefer viewing my photos and videos on them since iTunes can't read AVI or MKV. My photos and music only takes up 10 GB total. I will reserve about 5 GB for apps and games. The other 5 GB should be for random videos. The rest for future photos and unused space to keep it fast. 32 GB is decent enough for me since I won't use iPhone 7 as a media player.

There is a 10% chance I will get 128 GB to future proof it better but I can roll with 32 GB until 2020 since I hate using iTunes to handle my media.

People don't know how to manage their songs, photos, videos, etc.
Thankfully Apple takes great care of that for some of us...just last week Music suddenly stopped playing and ...voila... all downloaded music and audiobooks gone from phone...thanks apple for not catching this bug in over a year (started around the time apple music was launched)
