O come on. It's obviously a new model so we don't know anything yet. And it's good IMO, Qualcomm needs to be knocked down a few pegs.

It states the model in the article, 7360, so yes it's the same type. I am not a fan of one phone model working exceptionally better in low-medium coverage areas, than the other. It goes beyond theoretical max speed.

I am not a fan of Qualcomm either, but if their product is better, I couldn't care less how much other businesses hate them. I'm sure Intel's top of the line modem is just as good as the Qualcomm modems, but unless Apple starts actually using that, the Qualcomm's are better.

Well, he does have the makings of a point, what demanding software are you going to run on your app-store-only 6" max phone? And what's more, when the a10 in the iPhone 7 is already laptop level, at what point does more power stop meaning anything? Probably the biggest benefit they could bring would be holding steady on performance and massively reducing power consumption for a longer runtime.
The phone can always be faster ... for web browsing and consuming content ... for editing 4K video that you took with the phone ... for playing the latest games. You're being a little short-sighted.

Apple is going to release a new chip with the iPhone 8 than the iPhone 7s. I'm expecting the 7s chip to be an incremental upgrade and iPhone 8 chip to have some next gen chip of some sort...

Intel modem is the worst...
on a whim I bought a $150 qualcomm equipped iphone SE for fun on a recent BB sale. Popped in sim chip from my wife's 7+ with Intel modem and guess what, at least 10-20+ faster on speedtest.net along with much better call reception
It’s a shame that Apple and Qualcomm can’t grow up and work it out so that we don’t have to use inferior tech.

Wow, are they really going to use the same Intel modem? That is disappointing.

I have the 7 Plus Intel version, and it is definitely weaker in low bar areas compared to my gf's 6S. Wish I had waited to buy the unlocked Qualcomm. I'd suggest people do the same if you're due for an upgrade.

Wouldn't have mattered they limited the Qualcomm modem to preform about the same for iPhone 7 models

Yeah I was gonna say doesn't really matter

If apple has a Qualcomm variant and throttles it, nevermind carriers have their own limitations, relatively moot.

I would be curious if they go all intel this time tho. Probably depends if intel can do cDma now
If they go all qualcomm then they wouldn't have to throttle it. The only reason they throttled it was so that all iPhone 7s have a similar speed.

Well…I do a lot of Keynote and Adobe app work on my iPad. I also develop ML and AR based apps, so that's kind of processor intensive. Those apps are targeted to every-day people, so they'll enjoy the boost.

Its not all social networking.

C'mon Apple, you can make that motherboard smaller to fit a bigger battery in it.

Of course they can. But they’ll keep the battery the same size, and make the case thinner. Then tweak the software to give us a “low power” mode that kills several functions. Then give us a battery pack with an ugly-ass bump. That’s Apple!

Despite that, Qualcomm model still performed 30% better in low signal areas, which are the areas where this matters most. That's the difference between having slow data vs unusuable/no data

The gap between the two variants is consistent and north of 30% again in favor of the Qualcomm variant.

Good Find ! ... If one Zooms In, you can then see "the width of the datapath" to the Display ... this confirms 10-bit Display P3 display ! ... this means the 7s Plus, & probably also by extension the 7s, will include 10-bit Wide Color, NOT just the iPhone 8 ! ... and specifically, it's looking like 10-bit Display P3 / Wide Color "capture & display" on the 7s, 7s+, and the 8 !

And why is that exactly?

Because there have been significant advances in LTE technology. There is no reason to use LTE cat 9 or 12 modems when other flagships have cat 16. To use the same modem 2 years in a row is absurd. This current modem was already outdated when it came out last year. Using outdated tech only guarantees faster obsolescence and more money for Apple at our expense.

I hope the A11 chip in iPhone 8 is better because the higher resolution and extra features will seriously make it underperform when compared to the iPhone 7S

Who in their right mind would buy a 7S (6SSS), when they could get a S8 for the same outlay? It’s either a iPhone 8, or nothing for me this year.

Damn those pesky screw holes.

I don't know :

Bare, stacked and screw holes

make me wonder what website I am on.

I'm on the fence. I am on the S upgrade cycle and have been happy upgrading since my first iPhone (4S). I felt like every two years I got a nice spec upgrade as well as hardware and feature changes. If the 7S isn't more than the 7 I probably won't upgrade. If the 8 is too much price, I might bail as well and hold out another year.

Same here S-cycle, but always jumping 2 years.

So, 8s plus is it, especially if indeed 512GB.

Price at that duration of usage insignificant.

Are you able to prove these These fake? Just wondering how you concluded that these photos are indeed fake?

The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus already support 10 bit P3, I doubt they will remove it from the "S"

I don't necessarily disagree but I doubt One Plus is making much, if anything, by way of profit on those phones.

They are in business though for what their fourth year? So they must be doing something right, let's not forget Apple is so rich massively mainly due to the massive mark up on the iPhone. If you don't set your sights in making endless billions on devices that cost little to make, then you can still make a nice profit and offer great value.
