If Tim or Phil walk on stage and say "50% larger battery" all will be forgiven and they need not say a single thing more to sell this phone. They could just stand there and accept the applause for 15 minutes then walk off.

But you know it won't happen. They will make it slimmer with the same battery (give or take 5%) and the same battery life.

Why? What benefit do you see by having two speakers?
I suppose it doesn't have to be two separate speakers but I definitely want louder sound from the phone. I use the speaker all the time in private (and sometimes with others in the right setting) so it's something I would appreciate a lot.

Apple owes you an iPhone for free.

Pathetic excuses like this supplied by Apple’s worshippers enables the Cupertino Co to sell crap that other smartphone makers couldn't dream of selling.

Apple's psychological influence over the faithful is a testimony to the power they possess.

What kind of response is this? Pathetic excuse? Worshipper?

It makes no sense to have two speakers on the same side. What's the point? Are you telling me you're going to get a stereo effect from both speakers ON THE SAME SIDE and less than an inch apart???

What's more idiotic is they're doing this for cosmetic reasons, but yet they still haven't figured out how to make the camera flush with the phone's back. Steve Jobs would have sleepless nights knowing that camera was bulging.

LOL!! :p

No headphone jack and in replacement ...

I reported this post as awesome :D

Shhh... can you hear that....NO...oh yeah...forgot.. you only got one speaker...if you want two, put your headphones on...NO..oh yeah..forgot.. you got no headphone jack.

I think as many people have said, it's not about stereo, it's about higher volume, less distortion, better sound.

But hey, the Appleogists will dismiss any relevant point regardless. Removing features when sales are already dipping, just to seemingly add profit or get more add-on sales is arrogance on Apple's part. What they are actually doing is removing functionality and convenience.

If this phone is a crossover to a streamlined iPhone 8 then I understand but that just means people shouldn't buy this hamstrung model with features removed and no gains, Apple are basically saying we should wait for the next version . Better camera is a given as it should always be with a new model and competition ever-improving. Every other point about larger battery, waterproofing etc is irrelevant because other phones on the market offer all that in less space WITH a 3.5mm jack, time to stop forgiving Apple for poor design.

[doublepost=1471068468][/doublepost]As for the debate about fake Mercedes exhausts... ? Well here's a review of the latest E-Class diesel, fast forward to 4:20 to see that BOTH exhaust tips are fake. Seems Apple aren't the only "Premium" company seemingly cheaping out either for profit or lazy design. Pretty shoddy of both companies really.

This won't be proved one way or another until they announce the new iPhone. If there is not a second speaker, then I simply will not buy the new iPhone without an 3.5 mil audio jack. I'll continue to dabble in Android devices that have great stereo speakers like the Moto X Pure Edition that cost me $250 unlocked at Best Buy last month !!

The 3.5 Jack is highly likely to be deleted. Chances are a speaker is the replacement for the Jack. If there is a second speaker, I hope its fully functional, versus being superficial and only embedding the microphone.

I have no idea why you're showing me that link. Since it only proves what I said. In the examples in the link you provided if showed trims that had an actual exhaust behind it or cars that has a bigger model engine in it that uses dual exhaust.

Not really, a couple are just straight out fake, Lexus and Merc, there's a few manufacturers who do this without a option for a real exhaust regardless of the engine option.
They all do the same with intake vents too, it's for symmetry and looks, I guess it's not important, kinda the same as chrome plated plastic and polyvinyl leather. Not that I'm arguing with you, but this is done for aesthetic reasons.

I have no problem if Apple do something for aesthetic appeal over functionality, it's not like they haven't before.

See, your reply contains additional info instead of simply labelling me as some kind of apologist. Okay so it's not about stereo. It makes it louder and less distorted. Great. Then I'm for that. Is it worth removing the headphone jack? Not for me.

It's funny how quick some are to label others. I didn't even mention anything about defending Apples motives or designs. And certainly nothing about removing the headphone jack being a good idea.

I haven't done research about the relevant (meaning practical, and not business profit reasons) reasons and pros, if any, of removing the headphone jack. But while I don't like the idea of its removal at first thought, I'm open to know whether or not it would eventually be a good thing. Like the removal of the floppy. Then again, the floppy was more obviously outdated. I'm not sure the same applies to the headphone jack. What would some benefits be? And would it be worth it?

Fortunately people are beginning to wake up to the Timmy and Jonny clown show.

Honestly, this might be the most anticipated Key Note in Apple's history, not so much in terms of hardware announcements, but the changes made in the hardware, and how they plan on selling the iPhone 7. My guess is Phil Schiller will be discussing the iPhone on stage.

Even with all these leaks, It will be interesting to see what's in store. The invitations should be leaked/sent out in the next two weeks.

I for one am disappointed as hell in the loss of the 3.5mm jack as I use it a LOT, and using the lightning for audio wont work here. My one gain from the loss was the addition of a second speaker for louder audio which would help on occasion when I do use the speakers, but now that has been taken off me as well.

Have to really reconsider the purchase of the next phone, as unless it's got a really really good feature set, I'm unlikely to get it now

While it will be interesting how they sell these changes, can't see this being the most anticipated key note in apple's history, not with the same design a 3rd time round, and not given the lacklustre keynotes recently.

This is the first keynote that I'm considering not watching live and getting the summary afterwards.

I do apologise for labelling, there's just been a lot of people defending Apple's decisions because "Apple knows best" and seemingly accepting or making excuses for why the removal of the 3.5mm is somehow good for customers.

As it stands the ONLY benefit is saving space (saving cost for Apple is no benefit to the consumer - the iPhones are already expensive and high margin compared to the competition). Now when it was presumed that space would be for an additional speaker there was at least some kind of tangible benefit, Bluetooth headphones can be used regardless of 3.5mm jack after all! But just to save space? It's not much space really, a few % more battery when, if that's a priority the phone should simply be made a little thicker for far greater gains in internal volume, even 1mm thicker is a pretty huge increase percentage-wise (1mm thicker = 29.4% increase in iPhone 6 battery size) and could result in less/no camera bump - this alone, bigger battery, no bump, would be enough for many to warrant an upgrade and the 3.5mm input could stay.

The main benefits for removing the 3.5mm input all seem to be purely on Apple's side.

Two speakers won't make any notable difference

Being how upset Apple's shareholders and consumers are currently with the product line and iPhone slump. I think this keynote will be one of the most anticipated, again, not for the product line, but the changes or lack of to the product line. For example, what to expect with the the new iPhone? Is the iconic headphone Jack deleted? If the Jack is deleted, how does Apple remedy the alteration? Adapter provided? Any MacBook Pro updates?

I think it will be a tuned in event for sure, mostly those looking to see what Apple's play will be. And you have to remember, the September iPhone Key Note is a major worldwide event that draws a large viewing audience.

Just because we don't all worship every Apple decision it doesn't make everyone a "shill". I've owned iPhones since the 3G as my sole phone, I have an iPad, I don't own an Android device (yet) but I completely disagree with the design and decisions made by Apple for this iPhone 7 based on the leaks we've seen so far. I'm an Apple customer and I'm entitled to have an opinion on their products, if they aren't good enough I'll stop being a customer.
