The main difference between the previous iPhones [7 and 7 Plus] and iPhone 8 is it just support wireless Charing. Otherwise nothing major upgrade over iPhone 7 Plus. All minor spec bumps come at a higher price tag since Apple rised the price by $50.

Exactly. Which after waiting to see what Apple had to offer I had to go Note8.

iPhones still provide nothing new to bring me back:

1. Still no headphone jack (won't be back, I know). Not buying a new car to use a phone (no bluetooth)
2. No split-screen multitasking
3. No expandable storage
4. Music app doesn't work in landscape mode (useful in the car-mount), as far as I know

I use those 4 features heavily, plus the stylus is useful as heck too.

Sadly, the sweet integration with my all-Mac ecosystem will have to wait yet another gen or 2.

I don't know what these "reviewers" are drinking.

The 8 plus is marginally different to the 6s Plus. The form factor with those massive bezels hasn't changed in 3 years! Yet, the product is "revolutionary"?

The camera alone is worth upgrading for? I doubt any consumer would be able to tell the difference between "increased lighting effects" on a 750p LCD screen.

There is no chance I would pay £600 to "upgrade" my 6s Plus.

I agree, they look the same.
But someone have to be blind to see how different they are.

Only if you consider new features to be the only difference... but literally every component was upgraded from the screen to the cameras. I don't think it's fair to say there are no major upgrades outside of wireless charging.

That may be technically true but my gauge is "how do I tell my mom the difference between five iPhone models Apple is selling 2017"...When she said what's the difference between the 7 and 8, I said the only tangible difference being wireless charging. Is that fair to Apple? No. But to a non-techy end-user wanting to know tangible differences, it's a fair explanation.

As much back and forth I have been doing, the only upgrade that makes sense to me is the X. "Upgrading" to the 8 from the 7 isn't really worth it IMO.

Its in their interest or else Apple will not invite them to events or send review units.

That's not true so you lied to your mom then. Good for you for being so brazen

I wish CNET's siie would provide the original sized photos. All they did was post cropped images. I guess this just reminds me yet again why I never read CNET's website anymore....

For me its either a 6S or the X...but since I don't want to spend $1500 Canadian on a phone it will be the 6S and I will wait until next year hoping the price goes down or buy a used one. I wouldn't buy anything except I already promised my wife could have my 6S to replace her 5S which has terrible battery life

Despite everything inside changing, it's the same... Oh my. Good for your for not upgrading. So "happy" to be informed of that. Tell me about your lunch now; has it changed?

Doesn't look very capable in this particular instance...

I think the main issue is that it deleted her hair on the left side, which looks unnatural. Also it doesn't really fade to black the further away from the lens you get. It's just the face, and then *boom* pure black.

Reviews are coming in great for 8 and 8Plus, I think I just might preorder X rather than wait for the reviews on that one as was my original plan.

Definitely excited come November, an upgrade from 6 to X is going to be incredible. :D
Hope you are not concerned about the price tag. I think it will be fair upgrade for you over your iPhone 6. Which color are you deciding. I am going for silver 64 GB model.

Why not just put a new battery in the 5s, that would be pretty cheap.
Or maybe buy her a SE (which has the internals of the 6s); that would still be pretty cheap.

Clean design is ruined here in Europe.

On the plus side, we know not to throw our phone in the bin now.

Always depends on where you come from. If you got a 5s to 6, it does make sense and there a lot of people with those phones.

I don't regret buying a 7 Plus now that it's $100 off, I knew I wouldn't be a fan of the glass back and the smaller battery is almost insulting. If the A11 is more effiecient, put in the same battery and get more out of it. Don't put in a smaller one and get 'about the same'.

Plus you can't beat that Jet Black.
