Orders will begin shipping in a day or two and still won't be delivered until the 22nd? Wow, when they say a certain date they aren't kidding!!

They probably make it so the carriers are in agreement not to deliver until the 22nd? Although sometimes aren’t they delivered a day before release date?

How long do you think it will be before the Apple Watch will be available for Apple Store Pickup? I want to get the Series 3 Apple Watch (no cellular) as soon as possible.
If I preorder it I would need to pay an extra $26 tax as opposed to going across the state line to an Apple Store with no tax.
Any idea how long before new Apple products typically become available for Apple Store Pickup? Thanks!

Same here. But, to be honest, I am dreading October 27th at 3AM (Eastern). I have a feeling it'll be a cluster**** and Apple's servers (as well as the carriers) are gonna crash and we'll see ship dates slipping almost immediately. The anticipation for this new phone, combined with the very tight supply, is going to leave a lot of people upset.

Totally agree :( those of us who will get it in November will be extremely lucky!

People are probably holding off till the iPhone X is released to see whether they want it or the 8.

In the short run, it may mean fewer phones sold this quarter. But I predict Apple will probably still sell as many, if not more phones for the entire financial year.

Not to mention the expected increase in ASP brought about by the iPhone X.

Only question is if Apple can make enough iPhone X to meet demand or if this will be another Airpods situation. Not to mention that by March next year, people may just decide to hold off till the next iPhone refresh.

Also have to consider another combination: 8 isn't enough of an upgrade, and X is too expensive.

I'm hoping a lot are abstaining from upgrade in general this year. The high price of the X, the availability of the 8, the price dip of the 7, holding off on launch for more units to be made...maybe all of that might make it possible for an easier time at preorder/day 1.

Probably one of the weakest launches in recent history.

All iPhone 8 and 8 Plus models available in 1-2 weeks.

There are two pieces to the shipping time puzzle: supply and demand. Without knowing the details of production schedules / inventory, it is impossible to accurately estimate demand / sales.

Yes it's possible demand is not earth shattering. It's also possible Apple has accurately estimated sales this time and prepared accordingly.

I suspect they've shot themselves in the foot. They're high prices to pay for the 8 and people will not want to pay those prices to feel like they've gotten second best. On the other hand, the price of the X is I suspect too high for most people so they will go neither. On the other hand there are the numerous similar phones which are touted as equally premium but are significantly more affordable. I would think the competition will pick up quite a few people as the easy and sensible choice.

I'm certainly in the above camp. I have been waiting enthisiasticaly for the launch because I'm getting to the point where I will need to replace my iPhone 5. The 8 is not the phone I've waited all this time for but $1829 (Oz prices) is just obscene for the X. Where are consumers like me supposed to go?

If that's the case, Apple pushed the lever on iPhone 8 production too far.

They should have allocated more resources to iPhone X production.

No telling. If you really want one that bad, pay the $26 so you can secure one.

I plan on getting a 4k television as a kindaChristmass present for us, so, I don't need the new Apple TV right away.
The LTE Apple Watch is what I'm excited about and bought plenty of bands for every occasion on Amazon for it already.

I am leaning towards the former in this case. Don’t get me wrong I am happy to finally get a Plus phone on launch without having to preorder it at 3am but the X has gotten all of the attention. People want that phone now. I have a feeling this is going to be an interesting fiscal quarter for Apple. They will get my yearly donation but it might not be enough.

Probably one of the weakest launches in recent history.

All iPhone 8 and 8 Plus models available in 1-2 weeks.

I predict the same situation that happened in 2016 where Tim Cook's pay was reduced due to lower than expected demand for the iPhone 6S.
And if shipping had immediately blown out to 12 weeks we would have to put up with the “wasn’t Cook meant to be a supply chain wizard, worst launch ever, fire him now!” crowd.

Space black or different model this time?

I can't find links easily anymore on apple.com!
They only have four models of stainless steel now. Stainless steel with the white sport band, space black stainless steel with the black sport band, regular stainless steel with the Milanese loop, and space black stainless steel with the Milanese loop.

I think I might switch it up and get regular SS this time. I love my space black series 0, but just for variety sake I’ll try the other one.

Under Tim Cook's watch, customers were willing to wait until late October and November for the Gold 6 Plus and Jet Black 7 Plus. A 12 week delay shouldn't be a disaster.

It seems the iPhone X pre-order date is because Apple has no idea about the production ramp situation until October. Or they're desperately trying to pawn off the iPhone 8 stock.

Y'all should check out the main Apple Watch Preorder thread here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/apple-watch-series-3-pre-order-thread.2067615/page-14

Mine shipped at 11am this morning (EST) and is on it's way! Also, UPS does work with Apple to restrict and set specific delivery dates for their products. Many large shippers will do this, under specific agreements with UPS (my company does this as well - ships with a speed but the delivery date is set to meet a specific need or launch date). So, by UPS' product and delivery guarantees, my watch should technically arrive on Tuesday!!!! But it is scheduled for launch - one can dream!

P.S. You can track with UPS MyChoice, or track by reference using the phone number listed on the order or the Web Order Number (starts with W) minus the last 2 digits.

I really wonder what the quarterly iPhone sales are gonna look like. They will sell what they can make for the iPhone X but how many people will actually buy the 8/8+ will be interesting.
