One of the reasons for the delays this year is that Apple tried so hard for so long to get the finger print reader behind the glass that it cut too close to launch, that coupled with assembly issues has resulted in delays - however, it simply wasn’t good enough for mass launch. I remembered reading they toyed with placing it on the back and we were even seeing leaks with the placement on the back. I think their plan was to have both FaceID and Screen?ID as options to choose from. FaceID has taken lots of planning and isn’t just an after thought. Samsung S8 also tried but couldn’t get it working. The S9 will have it and I believe the Xs? Will also have it.

Nike+ Apple Watches never had a September 22 delivery date, was October 5th from the start.

I am staying out of the iPhone upgrades this year as many will do in Europe. The prices are crazy! I got my iPhone 6 at E700 ($770 at the exchange rate from that time). Now the prices for iPhone 8 are starting from E840 (over $1000  - this is almost 30% percent more)... They raised the prices in Europe when the dollar was low in respect to Euro but they forgot to lower them now when the exchange rate is pretty much the same as 4 years ago.
I suspect that many people will refrain from the upgrade for the same reason. More and more Apple is establishing a pricing policy that will alienate the part of the users that are not in its core fan base.
Ya know whats funny, when pre orders are hectic and delivery days slip immediatly people bitch and when they gomsmooth people say" ohhh apple sucks they screwed up this time
' people are never happy.act like Little girls

Best Iphone would be Iphone Xe.

I suspect they've shot themselves in the foot. They're high prices to pay for the 8 and people will not want to pay those prices to feel like they've gotten second best. On the other hand, the price of the X is I suspect too high for most people so they will go neither. On the other hand there are the numerous similar phones which are touted as equally premium but are significantly more affordable. I would think the competition will pick up quite a few people as the easy and sensible choice.

I'm certainly in the above camp. I have been waiting enthisiasticaly for the launch because I'm getting to the point where I will need to replace my iPhone 5. The 8 is not the phone I've waited all this time for but $1829 (Oz prices) is just obscene for the X. Where are consumers like me supposed to go?

Your first paragraph is exactly how I feel, the 8 seems too much like the older phones and is very expensive still, while the X is border line mad price wise but is the one that actually seems like something new.

pre ordering the iPhone X will be easy, as long as your pre order gets in within 3.5 seconds after pre orders go live. Any moment after those 3.5 seconds, and you will be get an email somwehat later with your shipping time:
''March 22-29, 2018'' ;)
I honestly think that’s going to be the case come October 27. Isn’t this exciting, though? It’s like a lottery where everyone wins (except some win later than others and Apple wins most)!! :p

I really don't understand their current phone lineup and given that offer I'll skip premium this time and replace my iPhone 6 with an SE. That's the only reasonably priced mobile device they offer which does 95% of what the 8 or X can do.

I'm in exactly the same situation. I'm planning to wait until the SE 2 comes out () and I'll get that if it's reasonably affordable and comes with reasonable internals. I'm hoping it'll be like the SE, which came with some 6S internals, and come with iPhone 8 internals. If it doesn't come out, is underpowered or is overpriced then I may wait another 6 months for next year's phones. I regret not buying an SE as soon as it came out.

Y'all should check out the main Apple Watch Preorder thread here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/apple-watch-series-3-pre-order-thread.2067615/page-14

Mine shipped at 11am this morning (EST) and is on it's way! Also, UPS does work with Apple to restrict and set specific delivery dates for their products. Many large shippers will do this, under specific agreements with UPS (my company does this as well - ships with a speed but the delivery date is set to meet a specific need or launch date). So, by UPS' product and delivery guarantees, my watch should technically arrive on Tuesday!!!! But it is scheduled for launch - one can dream!

P.S. You can track with UPS MyChoice, or track by reference using the phone number listed on the order or the Web Order Number (starts with W) minus the last 2 digits.
Just checked My UPS and my shipment is there!
[doublepost=1505651115][/doublepost]My 8+ is shipping UPS, AW3 LTE says "standard shipping," I'm assuming that means USPS?

Goodluck!! for those getting iPhone 8, I am waiting and will get iPhone X. To me iPhone 8 Plus doesn't seem big upgrade over my iPhone 7 Plus.

Way too expensive, Apple clearly is testing the price sensitivity of its customer base here once again. Same happened with the original iPhone. It might get cheaper soon. Further, the introduced technology will come to other devices next year, most certainly a bit more mature. Don't get me wrong, nice phone and clearly I would like to own it, but not for now.

Probably one of the weakest launches in recent history.

All iPhone 8 and 8 Plus models available in 1-2 weeks.

I predict the same situation that happened in 2016 where Tim Cook's pay was reduced due to lower than expected demand for the iPhone 6S.

That's Apple's fault for making a 7S. They haven't made a must have flagship in years.

Looks to me like one of the best prepared launches. Seems you are one of those who will complain no matter how things go. Plus there's the fact that many reasonable people will want to wait until they can compare iPhone 8 and iPhone X in a store to make their decision.

Not really. Technically the 8 is the "S" model of the 7 and the S models never have supply constraints other than the gold 5s. The 3GS, 4s, non-gold 5s, and 6s were all in ample supply at launch. I also noticed that Apple even offered the sim free 8 on release day rather than holding back on supply for the carriers like they typically do. This means Apple themselves anticipated demand not outstripping supply for the 8 models.

There are two pieces to the shipping time puzzle: supply and demand. Without knowing the details of production schedules / inventory, it is impossible to accurately estimate demand / sales.

Yes it's possible demand is not earth shattering. It's also possible Apple has accurately estimated sales this time and prepared accordingly.
And Apple has fragmented the line somewhat by offering the SE 6s,7,8 and X
which I think is a good thing. This allows people to get an Iphone at a lower price.
This may cannibalize sales of the 8 somewhat but I'd think overall sales will be up?
I bought the 8+ and may upgrade to the XS next year.

Same here. But, to be honest, I am dreading October 27th at 3AM (Eastern). I have a feeling it'll be a cluster**** and Apple's servers (as well as the carriers) are gonna crash and we'll see ship dates slipping almost immediately. The anticipation for this new phone, combined with the very tight supply, is going to leave a lot of people upset.
I'm disappointed that there wasn't a Blush Gold iphone x with a white front option however I did order through Amazon a white front screen protector for my future silver iPhone x. The reason why I didn't preorder the gold iPhone 8 plus is because of what happened to me for the iPhone 6 in which everybody at the time convinced one another to go for the 4.7 inch iPhone 6 because the iPhone 6 Plus was going to be too big so I did preorder the regular 6 only to experience instant regret when I actually held a plus model in my hand at the Apple Store realizing that the iPhone 6 was too small and had lower resolution than the plus. Then I had to wait another month to get the plus as I returned the regular 6. I feel that if I go for the 8 plus instead, I will experience that same regret. So I choose to just wait for the iPhone X.
