Ordered my phone before heading into work this morning. Was able to get the iPhone 8 plus with 256gb in space grey with no problem at all at 03:10am eastern time. Rcvd email from AT&T at 3:27 stating that the iPhone will deliver on 8/22. Ordered through the At&T website and the Next upgrade program.

Also ordered the space Grey Apple Watch 3 cellular from Apple directly and will be able to pick it up on 8/22 from the local Apple Store. Ordered at 3:05am eastern

Ordered a product Red case for the iPhone 8 plus as well and Apple will ship that to arrive on the 20th, which is cool so that when the phone arrives on the 22nd it will go right into the case.
Time travel ;)? Getting a phone in aug :p

Meh, the price isnt bad, but by the time I can get two I'll be eligible for a BOGO.

Apple will have built up 6 weeks additional supply by the time X preorders start. Demand will be huge, but Apple knows it and has planned for it. Delaying X orders was a genius move, allow more time to build inventory. Apple might sell 100 million units in an hour, and deliver them all a week later!

WRONG! not everyone has a grand to spend on a phone. you'll see

Just FYI, Jet Black last year was at premium price because you have to buy the more expensive model . Jet black end up the most sought after model and always out of stock for a long while globally. The after market price for Jet black is 1000+ USD plus and they STILL sell like hotcakes.

Based on the current slow sales on iPhone 8 right now, I can tell you right now iPhone X will be in big shortage until end of year just like the Jet Black last year.

You know what would have been even smarter? Having enough supply to launch the preorder on time. That way you won't have people buying the 8 who would have otherwise spent $300 more for the X, if it was released on time.

RIGHT!

it will be a hot seller.

but i dont think it will ever be their best selling iphone nor will it surpass last year's iphone sales.

Remember iphone already peaked. It only goes down from here.

Ordered the stainless steel silver lte model this morning and shipping was estimated for the 29th.
I would imagine that it all depends on the model you want where it comes to availability.
I’m fine waiting for it to arrive, than calling around to see if the one I want is available.

The 8 Plus is getting returned. No money bags over here...

Oh, interesting. You can "upgrade" to the 8+, pay for the taxes, and then just turn around and return it to pay the difference on the X? How do you get in line (preorder) the X if your upgrade is essentially already used?

Basically why restocking fees are a thing. Kinda reminds me of the folks who go to Best Buy and get a badass TV for the superbowl and then return said TV the following day

The Superbowl and sports in general are probably the programming that least benefit from the kind of technology in a badass tv.

I'd wait for next years model haha

Haha I have been telling myself that since the 5S. That was back in the days of 2 year contracts and mine was up about a week after the 5s came out. By that point, it was back ordered by around 2 months. I figured I might as well wait for the 6. Then with each model I figure I might as well keep waiting since my 4S is still in great shape and because next year's version will be even better than the phone that is out now. Haha

So is Apple Watch Series 3 now finally 64-bit?

SO stupid that the ONLY bundled band option for the gold case is two PINK bands. What man would ever order those? Why they don't offer the bundled midnight blue?! Bone-headed move.

Let me get this straight:

You are buying an 8 Plus, with the intention of returning it, just so you can play with a phone for two weeks?

It's stupid **** like this which kills generous return policies for the rest of us consumers

This was my exact point a couple days ago on another thread. A couple people did not take kindly to it.

Pre-order supplies of the new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are beginning to dwindle, with several new iPhone models now displaying shipping estimates beyond the September 22 launch date.

Space Gray T-Mobile and SIM free models in some capacities, for example, will not ship out for one to two weeks, and those shipping estimates could fall as people continue placing orders. T-Mobile stock in general seems to be selling out faster.

Apple Watch Series 3 supplies appear to have been limited, with some models, like the 38 and 42mm stainless steel watches listing shipping estimates of two to three weeks. Several Sport models have sold out, with the 42mm Space Gray Aluminum with Dark Olive Sport Sport Loop, 42mm Gold Aluminum with Pink Sand Sport, and 38mm Silver Aluminum with Seashell Sport Loop all listing shipping dates a few weeks out.

Apple started accepting pre-orders at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time on Friday, September 15, and shipping estimates for the above mentioned products began slipping within about 20 minutes. Additional products could begin selling out soon, so it's best to place orders right away.

While pre-order supplies of some iPhone 8/8 Plus and Apple Watch Series 3 models are beginning to sell out, it may still be possible to get one of the new iPhones on launch day by visiting an Apple retail location on Friday, September 22. In fact, for some products with higher shipping estimates, in-store pickup is still available for launch day, but that could change quickly.

The iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus come in 64 and 256GB configurations with three color options: Gold, Silver, and Space Gray. In the United States, iPhone 8 pricing starts at $699, while iPhone 8 Plus pricing starts at $799. Apple Watch Series 3 pricing starts at $329 for non-LTE models and $399 for LTE models.

My Apple Watch is already showing preparing for shipping

I've only seen one iPhone model time slip and one model of watch slip this morning. I think plenty are around. Looks like everyone is waiting for the X. Bummer was the watch I ordered was the only one everyone else seemed to want. Said 9/22 delivery but when completed my order it said another 2-3 weeks out. Oh well.

Good luck, folks. I placed my order at 2:30 a.m. CDT last night (8 Plus for 9/22 pickup, AirPods “available for pickup today,” and some accessories to be shipped to me next week). Apple confirmed. At 3:25 a.m. got a “We’re processing your order number xxxx” e-mail from Apple. Set out for the specified brick & mortar Apple store, arrived 6 pm…only to find my order for the AirPods wasn’t in the store’s systems. The sales associate said, “it should be ready soon and then you can have them.” I asked how long “soon” was, and he said, "probably w/in the hour, certainly before we close.” On my current phone I clicked on the “Order Status” link in the aforementioned e-mail; and when I reached Apple.com’s Order Status page, every single item in the order was listed as “We’ve received your order and payment information and will begin processing your order…” I said "the heck with it, I’m gonna cancel the AirPods and just buy them right here"—but every single item bore the message “Cannot cancel or edit.” Clicked on the “why?” link and got the same message above, concluding “when we have finished processing…then you will be able to cancel or edit.”

Store staff were at a total loss, suggested I call Customer Service. When I finally reached a human being, he admitted Apple’s servers have been “swamped since midnight.” I asked him why I got the aforementioned e-mail and he said it was auto-generated. “When will my order start being processed?” I asked. He admitted he had no idea. Now, when I ordered the phone (and everything else) I actually had to make a pickup appointment, with a 30 min. window, for next Fri. 9/22. I asked the store clerk if my phone would be ready by then, and he said, “Of course.” I asked the Customer Service phone rep and he said “truthfully, I can’t guarantee.”

So my order is in limbo (I bought the AirPods anyway and will “return” the ones I ordered—and paid for—when & if they and my phone ever arrive. Thank God I didn’t hold out for the X—who knows when those will ship???? (If they ship).

Another reason I am getting the plus, typing on the iPhone 7 sometimes causes typos. A larger keyboard may help with that. S/B 9/22

Sadly not. I keep hitting the i instead of o on my 6s+. Lots of other typos. I did fewer on a smaller keyboard running iOS 6 on an iPhone 4. I blame the lack of contrast between keys. They sort of all blur into one.

A friend needs to upgrade from a 6+ with the touch issue. He couldn't do it on Friday because his carrier now requires photo ID to process the upgrade contract and forgot to warn people beforehand. He therefore went into a larger branch in Manchester today to do it. They told him he was the first person who asked for a preorder on a new iPhone. I don't think there will be a shortage of the 8/8+ in the UK. Maybe not even on the X.
