Still hoping they have some color scheme hidden from leaks. The copper gold is alright, but I like both the product red and original gold much more.

That black is so sleek though...

Excellent checklist

could not agree more than the above opinion.

What makes more sense, for Apple to throw away a perfectly good proprietary standard of their own for you or for you to just buy an Android phone that has USB-C or whatever other open standard you want?

What makes more sense, Apple standardizing their connectors (as they already did on their MacBooks), or Apple keeping a useless connector that only inconveniences customers?

Although it probably will look like the picture, there are still alot of pictures of the iPhone 8 with the fingerprint on back and flash under the camera(I hope not) think there would be huge disappointment if it's not the phone in this post

I think the opposite is true and a lot of people including myself hope it looks absolutely nothing like the images and more like the Samsung S8.

The little notch on top is stupid and the unsymmetrical screen makes my OCD go off the charts.

TouchID better be present on this phone. It could easily be placed into the Apple logo on the back. Oh, and USB-C. Catch up with the times, Apple! Lightning is sucky proprietary crap.

Touch ID maybe but unlikely I'll put this at a 25% chance and if you use it on a flat surface like I did with my Nexus 6P you will rarely use it on the back. I found it easier entering a passkey even when I didn't have it on a surface. Sounds like Apple is going hard on facial recognition to unlock. Apple pay with facial recognition would make me a little nervous though.

Apple lives off sucky proprietary dongles and cords. It would certainly make sense as macbooks are all going USB C but Apple does a lot of things that don't make sense. USB C replacing lightning. 5% chance.

I’m sorry but there’s not going to be a copper phone with silver Apple logo. Not happening.

Why Are you apologizing? It's not rumored to be 'Copper' to clear any confusion, the naming scheme is labeled to be Blush gold if true. And I do think that model is very likely with that color and logo.

USB-C is probably going to be there.

The status of TouchID is probably going to disappoint you.

Editors: In some cases you place parentheses around 'iPhone 8' in order to indicate the actual name is not known and there are good arguments for some other name. In other cases, no parentheses. Perhaps some consistency?

Otherwise... It'd be cool if all three models are available to ship before the end of September. However, rumors have long suggested that the "iPhone 8" will be delayed to some degree. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Based on the rumored higher price of the "iPhone 8," it, like the higher-priced iPhone Plus-sized models, is likely to sell in relatively smaller quantities. Fourth Quarter earnings will take a very substantial bump-up on the sale of the 7s models. One or two weeks of "iPhone 8" sales being added to (or missing from) the quarterly results is likely not a make-or-break situation.

I'm assuming we can play the answer questions with questions game all day so I'll add some context. Apple customers appreciate proprietary connectors, software and processors that only Apple can control and deliver. This doesn't mean everything has to be proprietary but when everything is an open standard (BTW, apple helped draft USB-C standard so they know exactly when to use it or not to use it) you get beige boxes of commodity junk PCs. We had this in the 70's until Apple broke that mold with Apple 2. We had it in the 80's until Apple broke that again with non-standard Macintosh. We lost a lot of that magic when Apple decided to standardize and even license out to 3rd party manufacturers in the 90's and Apple and their customers suffered from it.

Then came iMac which broke standards and introduced other new ones first which once again helped customers and the PC industry. They did it with iPod, iPhone and iPad using a non-standard 22 pin connector. That improved the customer experience over all of the standards. They continue that tradition with lightning.

If you're looking to save a few bucks by not having to buy both lightning and USB-C cables, then you came to the wrong party. If you're looking to avoid the mess right now going on with USB-C cables and are happy to pay a little more in order to get a little more from Apple, you are already an Apple customer.

Whining over Apple taking the non-proprietary road once again is no different than whining over Apple for not licensing out iOS or Mac OS to hardware manufacturers. You're wasting everyone's time.

Hmmm. Earlier this year USB-C was presented as a done deal by a lot of sites. Now I see many of the Mac and iPhone sites saying it will still be the Lightning port.

This is fun. I could use some fun! Looking forward to these new phones, not sure about being able to afford one though!

A new ATV would be a great addition, especially with winter coming, I can set up my bike on a trainer and hook up my AirPods and ride all winter watching the 'flix.

Hmmm I think some phones, iphone 7S, 7S+ and maybe an SE upgrade, will launch on Sept 22 but iphone 8 will probably launch later but it would certain be cool if the 8 launches at that time.

I'm not even sure I'm even a slam dunk for buying an iphone 8 or new model. Depending on what it will be able to do different feature wise and its price and size, I may end up buying a used 7 or SE since I like the smaller form factor, they are still powerful enough and hopefully people will be trying to sell on the cheap to buy a new model. :D

Lightning is here to stay for a while. I don't see Apple abandoning the lightning port as of yet, due to the iPhone, iPad and AirPod depth. USB-C will be here eventually, but I think the investment with lightning is too deep to be abandoned yet.

While I am curious about the iPhone, the Apple Watch and ATV are the two things I look forward to hear about.
Not expecting news on Macs unfortunately.

No, the credible rumors suggested the OLED iPhone would include USB-C power delivery standard for faster charging. Not a USB-C connector. This is similar to the 10.5" iPad Pro having USB 3.0 power delivery standard.

It doesn't make sense to have USB-C on the iPhone when it's a larger connector than Lightning. The iOS devices aren't benefiting from most of the USB-C features like DisplayPort output either.

Guess I'll need to schedule a trip to the nearest large city that has an Apple Store because Apple still doesn't let iPhone Upgrade Program members get their new device shipped to their home or even a local service center. So frustrating!

If I could plug a Lightning cable into a peripheral and actually benefit from the supposed speed of the Lightning format I wouldn't care. I can't plug it directly into a MacBook, or a MacBook Pro, or an iMac. With portable drives I can, but in the past they were still limited to USB speeds, the Lightning port/cable gained you nothing except not buying an adapter.

It's too slow to stream video at 4K, and I don't know of any monitors or devices that natively accepts it, even (especially) Apple devices.

There may be a few instances where the Lightning format shines. Neither I, nor most people know about them.
