I hope I can hold out from actually buying a 7s or 8 and general upgrade fever

I'll probably be tempted to try it out, but don't wanna play screen lottery with a 7s same screen. 8 will at least be OLED

I always end up regret updating prematurely before there's a JB.

My 7 plus 10.1.1 jailbroken has been a bit of a dream

And with a shaky JB future, it's best to not assume when a jailbreak will come for new hardware, but if

edit- just rambling out loud here, like everyone else :p

Why do you ask

So is everyone here mostly going to get the iPhone 8 and not iPhone 7s/7s Plus if those are the ones being released?

I think the opposite is true and a lot of people including myself hope it looks absolutely nothing like the images and more like the Samsung S8.

The little notch on top is stupid and the unsymmetrical screen makes my OCD go off the charts.

I don't know why there are so many back and forth's about how it should look. There will be only one to choose from and that's all there is. It is what it is and that's what your buying. It really doesn't matter what you think is best about how it functions or how it looks. This is either a good thing or a bad thing but it's the thing that can't be changed.

I think people who can't get an "8" on launch will in fact cave and purchase a 7s. I myself won't be purchasing any of them this time around, not a big enough enhancement for me. And with only 1 size for the "8" series, you know an 8+ will happen next year so I really don't mind waiting another year to get the much larger screen size. Bezels never have bothered me so I'm more then happy waiting it out. But again, I feel like people who preorder will jump to 7s series once 8's become harder to get.. which I assume would be within minutes, they'll slip to a 2-4 week delay.

I call some serious Bull S*** on this rumor. Apple has always sent out the invitation in the last full week of August and held the iPhone events in the first full week of September. Especially with the later iPhone generations. Correct me if I'm wrong. I expect to see the invitation tomorrow or Friday. We will see.

I'm holding out another year to see what the entire AMOLED line looks like then. $1,000+ is just too much for a phone that isn't exactly what I want. I'm expecting a 6.2" device next year that pretty much matches the dimensions of the Galaxy S8+ and is only marginally bigger than my current iPhone 6 Plus. Also hopefully with AMOLED display production being ramped up by manufacturers the supply constraints will be gone and prices will be a little more competitive than is currently rumored.

While I am curious about the iPhone, the Apple Watch and ATV are the two things I look forward to hear about.
Not expecting news on Macs unfortunately.

I am in agreement with you on this. I need a new phone but want a new watch and to see how the new :apple:TV is (not that I need it but still...).

What's going to suck is that black model iPhone 8 is going to be sold out and the terrible panty hose color will be in stock everywhere.

Don’t you mean it’ll be in STOCKINGS everywhere? LOLWTFBBQROFLROFL

..wonder what they'll do with iPhone purchase plan people to make sure they get a fair place in the queue this time around? Was a fiasco last time.
Agree, huge issues trying to upgrade last year. Followed by not having the phone in after I secured the order. Hoping it goes more smoothly this time. But, honestly, I'll still likely be in like even if it doesn't.

Considering the rumoured iPhone 8 design and price, I've been seriously considering switching over after 8 years of owning the iPhone. Not much has changed and iOS 11 is kinda underwhelming. Been putting off switching over to the other side for a while now and I think it's time I took the plunge.

Still going to wait for the Apple keynote just in case there's any surprises and for the Google Pixel announcement, but I think following todays Galaxy Note 8 announcement, it's looking like the prime candidate for me to switch over. The competition is too good these days to resist.

Be prepared to be dissapointed

Call me a pessimist, but I am mentally preparing myself for bitter, bitter disappointment.

What could possibly be disappointing about...

OLED HD Retina Display
Facial Recognition
Improved Front & Rear Cameras
Fast Charging (& Longer Battery Life?)
New AR Features
Wireless Charging (Possibly Sold Separately)
All New Design
MINIMAL Bezel

And even more. The only thing potentially disappointing would be the price and availability.

TouchID better be present on this phone. It could easily be placed into the Apple logo on the back. Oh, and USB-C. Catch up with the times, Apple! Lightning is sucky proprietary crap.
Oh if you only knew the things Apple knows. Like USB-C is garbage for the iPhone due to internal space. And Touch ID on the back is the opposite of intelligent design.

Am I the only one that likes the vertical camera position better?
More soothing on the eye.

Save money for a fire extinguisher if you get the Note 8 too

No, it is better. It follows the design better in that it's length vs width matches the iPhone in the vertical position.

Last year the invite was sent august 29th.
