I wonder why is all of this in a firmware designed for Homepod? When homepod doesn't have any of these features... nor unable to do facial with.

If what we are seeing is Homepod is a replacement for iPhone because of these.

I really hope the white version exists.. GORGEOUS!! I wasn't so excited about iPhone 7, but man, this thing is beautiful. really hope the rumors are true. .
I actually hope that the copper gold comes with a white front. If it does, that would be the one I will click on pre order night.

I would agree. Many seem to not appreciate a white front and the copper color. I for one like it. I think it's a different contrast and the bronzed cooper tone seems like a color Apple Would release.

Well at least they are releasing that super-awesome mauve-make-up color... And, clearly, Jony doesn't work for apple anymore as the "seamless" bezel is now a samsung bezel glued to the front of an iPhone 7...
If you think this is what it will look like.....sigh

I've seen code references floating around with PearlID_Equalizer and PearlID_Reverb references. If Pearl ID is for facial recognition then why is it conjugated with sound-related terminology?

That's actually a Copper colored iPhone I believe. I'm not confident "Poop Brown" would be used in Apple's marketing terminology for an iPhone and it might be off putting for the consumer.
Copper color won't happen. It's a mistranslation from the supply chain. End of story.

There will not be a white front.

Can it recognize faces in the early nausea phase? I hope so because I know that's how I'd look if I owned one of those brown...er Old World Copper...iPhones. I really hope that is just a bad picture or a fake.
It's fake of course.. there won't be a copper iPhone hahah

Why does HomePod firmware have iPhone data?

And anyone else theorize that maybe Apple leaked this on purpose and is all fake??

No way in hell i'm buying that if it's got no Touch ID. I have a 6s that works fine but It will likely start slowing down with iOS11 and forward... Might have to upgrade to a 7s, even if I lose the damn headphone jack.

The Homepod is running iOS, so this firmware is what is going to be on the phones when they release in September and the Homepod in December.

I still don't like the idea of someone quickly grabbing your phone point it towards you and run off with it.

For instance say you have private stuff of yourself. Maybe nudes, some sort of porn as I'm sure most Men do, but also have private financial stuff like logging into your Chase account. SO your driving and the passenger grabs your phone and points it at your face quickly as I'm sure it will unlock in less than a second. What are you now supposed to do. Pull over?
Or say its a jealous girlfriend or a gold digger looking for dirt on you.

So what are we supposed to do if the owner doesn't need a physical contact with the phone to unlock it or go to locked apps like I use TouchID to log into my banks app.

Face unlocky thingy can NOT be the only way to unlock ones phone. It's way too easy for your stuff to be compromised as opposed to grabbing your hand and placing a finger on the screen.

Hasn't a company already made a under screen finger print reader? I'm sure I read it on here not too long ago. So why can't Apple do so with the amount of money they have?

Modern HDR probably takes advantage of newer sensors that can perform greater bit depth or perhaps output more exposure ranges than before in the same instance and turn it into an HDR with greater dynamic range. It would be even better if iOS supported saving these as RAW files in the options. This would make the iPhone Pro have more of a "Pro" camera.

As for multi biometrics—I have to wonder if that means that these devices will support some other scanning technique along with facial, such as IRIS scanning? But Touch ID combined with facial would be pretty neat. Just haven't heard anything about that. I just hope the facial scanning requires your eyes to be open because otherwise I could see college kids get into trouble with this.

@Infiniverse48. I borrowed a quote from one of your previous posts. It seems appropriately fitting for you:

"An opinion can't be incorrect." In my case in terms of what I quoted, that's what's I believe.....Which doesn't make it incorrect or you being correct. That's called a conundrum. Also, I'd rather much have a discussion about a valid argument, not some personal preference that you're telling me without having any substantial evidence stating otherwise. It's just rather daft to be honest .

Furthermore, I have a difficult time taking your post(s) seriously on here after the post you made about the rocker style home button on the side of iPhone weeks back. Some things you state just don't add up at all on here. But I understand Being myopic can be a trait if you believe everything you quote without factual evidence.

The fingerprint-under-screen reader you're referring to was a prototype- a rather slow one from the reports- and not ready for a consumer phone.

Just because Apple has tons of money doesn't mean they can magically make an immature technology instantly available.

The fact that they *didn't* put it in the 8 makes it clear that this tech isn't ready yet, at least not up to Apple's standards.

So I'm expected to believe that Apple has found a way to make face scanning as secure as a fingerprint, but still can't tell the difference between me and my 9-year-older brother in Photos? This story makes less and less sense as time goes on...

Bring it on. Hopefully it'll work better than Windows Hello. Facial recognition is tricky in that it can tricked. I've seen this. Then again I've seen high end facial recognition which was really good
Hopefully Apple got this down pat

So how does facial recognition work in the dark, exactly?

Infrared illumination.

Yes, why not?

I have zero doubts. It will very likely be more secure.

Facial recognition means the cameras can authenticate the user's face far more frequently than Touch ID can. And it can do so without interruption.

Sudden movement detected by motion co-processor? Authenticate.

Launch app or data access? Authenticate.

Inactivity timeout? Authenticate.
