Would be a bad move IMO.

Do you know how many times a day I have to unlock my phone? Can't imagine all the extra camera activations would be good for battery life. All this crap is just as useless as Siri. They should focus their efforts on improving features most people use.

Might they be able to figure out a way so that you wouldn't need have to use it every time you unlocked your phone?

But could have it as an option to do things like log in to your banking app.

Good idea about focusing on improving features that people use.

Maybe - and I appreciate this may be a long shot - they'll be able to do both?

Some of these features seem to be really cool even if they might be gimicky. However, android fans will not stop saying how they've had it all along though Apple did it best.

but it won't feel like a huge device..it's suppose to be 5.8 inch so hardly 6 inch anyway.

5.8" is definitely "nearly 6"'. :p

I wouldn't want one that big either, and won't be swayed by OLED / new design. Which is a bit annoying, as I was planning on replacing my SE this year, and now I'll be torn come September if there is a 7S the same as the 7, and a new, great looking larger iPhone.

This is the time of the year where the rumor mill starts throwing out the kitchen sink.... Every year around this time it's too early for concrete rumors so people start throwing stuff at the wall and making up all of these amazing features coming to the iphone.... But educated Apple consumers know better.... Apple will drip drip features out little by little they will never provide a long list of groundbreaking new features in one release...... But these are fun to imagine, discuss and dream about nevertheless.

Oh great. I got interested in this and now I've searched "finger touch facial" on my company computer and the search results weren't what I was expecting.

I had facial recognition on my Samsung galaxy nexus. It worked well, but it was way more annoying than Touch ID. I prefer using my finger rather than having to hold my phone up to my face for recognition.

Don't really get the functionality here. Touch ID is really fast and supposedly secure. What problem does facial recognition solve other than something "new" to talk about at a future product announcement event?

It says "Analyst needs one more thing to throw into his 'report' before publishing".

How gimmicky. 'iPhone 7s with Face Recognition' "Yah...this is all we could come up with. iPhone 8 rumour was just that. COURAGE!"

The iPhone 7 'upgrade' has gotta be the biggest underwhelming change in the the history of the iPhone (outside of S releases).

Glad I stuck with the 6. The 8 looks like it will be revolutionary. Give me wireless charging and bezel free OLED display and I'll be happy.

the 7 is an awesome phone. Leaps and bounds ahead of the 6. A much better phone then I even anticipated when I saw the 7 wasn't going to be a redesign. But either way the whole reason we got what we got with the 7 is because of the 8. And I am more then happy to give Apple another year if it means the 8 is going give me that "wow factor" feeling that I haven't really had since the 4.

Ugh just put the headphone jack in for people that are this short sighted.

If they do it, it will probably be an "either, both or none approach." Folks who don't like all this new fangled technology can instead focus on keeping those dang kids off the lawn.

Oh the same approach as eliminating the audio jack, right.

Yes, exactly. Both approaches involve adding cutting edge, industry leading features that not everyone understands or supports. This should be even easier since Apple doesn't have to remove anything to add a great new feature like facial recognition authorization. In the case of removing the legacy 3.5 mm jack, Apple had to add great new wireless capacity, and then use that space savings to throw in a larger battery, second speaker, new larger Taptic engine, and increased water resistance. Judging by the great sales, it seems that somewhere close to a hundred million people have already voted a big "YES" with those decisions by buying the iPhone 7.

If all the iPhones don't have OLED display that's gonna be lame
No it will be awesome! I can't wait for that to happen simply to come here and see the billion threads of people losing their minds about having to buy the "giant" phone to get the OLED screen and my personal favorite.... Fragmentation!

It's going to be glorious! I'll read it on my new iPhone 8+ with it's kick butt OLED screen......

Damn!! Preach on brother!!
Of course you may want to slip on your flame proof clothing..... Me thinks an avalanche of "fanboy" type responses are heading your way! Now to go back and read them :)

I update every year so any improvement is great in my eyes.... Just wish they'ed quit trying to make it so thin and would put a bigger battery in the darn thing.

Got rid of my 6s + because I didn't like the size. Got a Pixel with OLED, 5 inch size, and a headphone jack. If Apple comes in with a 5.8 inch OLED, I'm sticking with the Pixel.

Apple still playing catch-up ! Nothing here that can't be found on other products. Wireless charging ?? ffs.

Yeah, but it doesn't look that much different, and that's all that matters to some people it seems.

Every single iPhone hasn't looked that different from the previous one, and yet - amazingly! - the 7 is a much better phone than the original iPhone.

Weird, huh?

Except, if its wireless charging of the sort that has been rumoured, then it will be completely different and significantly better than existing wireless charging.
