iPhone 8 Pre-Orders Still Expected in September, But Shipments Likely Delayed Until 'Several Weeks Later'

Every week we continue to have conflicting rumors on when this flagship iPhone will ship. I really think, consistent with prior launches, everything will be announced and launched at the same time. But per usual, the flagship device will just have "supply constraints"
 
My wallet is ready. Will pre-order on launch regardless of how long it takes.

It's pretty much guaranteed that the iPhone 8 will be out of stock within a few minutes so i'm ready for the wait. I've been hanging onto my 6+ going on 4 years now, a few extra months is no big deal.

We don't know what name Apple will give it, but it seems clear that it will break some pattern of what Apple "always" or "never" does.

You have a prediction, apparently, of the nature of the name that will break the pattern.

It's still the 10th year. Just like how 2017 is celebrated as the 40th anniversary of Star Wars, or how a sports team may celebrate their entire 50th season. All celebration and acknowledgement don't have to fall on the exact day, especially since (just like Star Wars) not every market got the iPhone on the same day.
 
Brace yourself. The September, 2017, pre-orders for February, 2018, shipment threads are coming.

Well this is just preposterous.

I want, nay, need something, that doesn't even exist yet, at the exact time that I need it.

Apple has really gone downhill since Steve Jobs. You heard it here first.

Until that time though, I will be quite happy with my iPhone 7, or iPhone "The Jack-Off Edition", as I lovingly refer to it.

Apple needs to announce prematurely for what reason? Courage? Is there some unwritten law that requires Apple to announce in September even though it will most likely be November by the time people can get their hands on them?

Announce when product is ready, period. So tired of companies hyping a product early and then the fiasco of delayed shipments for weeks or months.

Can Apple, for once, do something that is not 100% tied solely on manipulating stock prices and just give customers some respect and let them have a product they want when its ready to ship. They are already nearly the most profitable company on Earth, just stop with the ridiculous marketing and PR gimmicks to whip investors into a frenzy at some peak financial quarter timing.

And Apple should take some of them billions of profit and fix their R&D, supply and manufacturing problems, period.

The shortages are going to be extreme this time around. This is the first iPhone i've been excited about in years.

Good on you for voting with your dollars. Too often it seems that people will just shell out money for anything that their favourite company puts out.

I agree. I just don't quite see the aesthetic appeal of any of these mockups yet. Personally, I would love to see the chamfered edge style of a 5s, but with a bezel-less edge-to-edge display.

i dont get it. so if they meet demand then there is no delay. You don't want apple to alleviate shipments - do you mean alleviate delays
