Apple has never done an "anniversary" edition of any product, the press need to stop calling the iPhone 8 that. It's just iPhone 8, nothing limited or special about it, just the next iPhone design that will be used for 3-4 years

I don't know. I can see them renaming it - Apple Phone.

I can forgive this...provided the job is done right.

I understand delays are sometimes unavoidable, especially when venturing into the new. If it takes a few extra weeks or months to ensure you release the best product possible, I understand that completely.

How's being stuck in 2008 working out for ya?

No headphone jack, no micro-sd, no sale.

Nope, not letting it go.

The competition WILL continue to get my money until then.

But look at it on the bright side: That leaves more iPhones for y'all! :D

The home button will remain, I am pretty sure, after apple invested so much on touch ID, no way they have the tech or the will to move the touch ID to on screen or even to other means of unlock the phone.

Great run down.

This is what apple fans or users should say. Just because these phones aren’t iphone doesn’t mean they aren’t amazing devices. Sometimes the OS you use is what you want. I can’t stand people on here who talk crap about the S8 or any android flagship as a way to make them feel better about their iphone. It’s ok to say android have great devices without taking shine away from apple afterall.

S8/S8 plus are stunning phones and I’m sure Samsung will sell millions and millions of them

I agree with all of this. The S8 is pretty spectacular hardware. The only thing I initially take points off for is the fingerprint reader placement. It just seems very awkward. I think they should have had a better backup option ready, in case the embedded finger print reader for under the screen wasn't ready.

All in all, playing with the S8 truly made my iPhone 7 feel dated.

Yeah I agree, I may buy the S8 plus but the FP isn't in the best spot really but i like the fact there are other options in terms of security. Iris could be an option but facial seems an ideal method when at home for example.

I'll be waiting for the next iPhone... when Apple deems the rest of us worthy to enjoy an OLED display. I see an OLED display on all of the Samsung S8 phones, not just one. Apple makes me sad lately. :(

I agree with you, but I must say that, in fairness, sourcing the components for the number of S8(+) that Samsung will probably sell is much easier than sourcing AMOLED screens for over 100 million phones. I do wish that Apple started preparing for this transition much sooner.

Note to Apple: Your iOS operating system is boring. And at times clunky.

One example is the Notification Center. Light it on fire and redesign it. It's useless to me when I get 10+ emails back to back. It becomes cluttered and no other notifications are easily visible.

That's really something Android does a lot better and way more intuitive.
One bundle of notifications for this App, ohne bundle for the next...

I can't buy iPhone for another year or two!! May be 2018, September!! Spent a fortune on iPhone 7 plus 128 GB!! I have stopped yearly refresh when the price started going beyond $600

Sounds like Apple is on pace to release a regular and plus sized 7s along with the more expensive iPhone 10 year anniversary edition with the better display, facial recognizition, etc. I thought for sure I'd buy the anniversary edition but the more I think about it the less inclined I am to do it. They are going to be asking a lot of money for those new features and while I'm sure they are nice non of them jump out as must haves for me. I think I'll wait until those features make there way to the base models. I'm fine with the 6s and don't have a lot of interest in wireless headphones that I'll wind up losing.

Relax... It's just a phone

Lol, these kind of snooty rude pointless insulting comments always crack me up!

It's like a techie version of "slut shaming" or something, I guess...? Lashing out at others and demeaning them to embolden yourself for whatever reason. Kinda makes me wonder what happened so wrong in their lives or whatever that it bothers them SO much that others find joy in something.

Seriously; I cannot fathom the thought process in someone that would visit an Apple enthusiast forum, just to try to make others feel silly or small for being excited about an Apple product.

Lol, I'm sure there are stamp collectors that get excited when limited run stamps come out... or car enthusiasts that get excited when a special edition sports car gets built- do you also have accounts on their websites so you can tell them "relax, it's just a stamp", & "relax, it's just a car"?

Why don't you climb down from your judgmental high horse & let people get excited about whatever they want, yeah?

Those mockups look really cramped at the top. I really hope they don't squish everything at the top of the screen like that. Things need a little breathing room.

You must have me confused with an iPhone user. I have Sammy Galaxy devices which are about 2-4 years ahead of Apple, so your math's a little off.

But go ahead and enjoy your stay in Apple's Crippletown for another year or two.

I'm sure the the red drinks in plastic cups are nice and cold.

2-4 years ahead of apple? I dont think so. Ive owned 4 sammys in the last 2 years. Only one of them even worked...and it was the one that was recalled

Basically you've never bought or had the intention of ever buying an iPhone then? Apple has never sold any portable gadget that had MicroSD card slots.

I did; My last iPhones were a pair of 4s. The issue is not what Apple has sold in the past, it's what they're selling now.

Once I jumped to a Sammy S4 around four years ago I knew what I'd been missing. I kept waiting for Apple to catch up, but they STILL haven't (and probably won't).

I just got tired of putting up with Apple not giving me what I want, so I went with the guys that did.

Simple.

Well, I cannot speak for your devices, but I can speak for mine: I've had an S4, a Note3, 2 Note5s, and 2 S7 Edges.

They've all been excellent, and to move to iPhone now would be a HUGE step backward given how I use my device.

iOS is a crippled, locked-down mess. Apple's hardware is even more so. But hey, if you like their very-Apple-single-button-mouse-like "simplicity" then more power to you.

At least iOS is smooth and definitely well integrated with Macs.

I need more than that, so Sammy it is.

I used to help develop third party software for Android. I love Android and I've switched back and forth from iOS and Android since the iPhone 4s was out. The reason for my latest switch to iPhone was because at the time, I was dealing with my Note 7 BS and my two S7 edges that were complete failures (they might have been refurbs), I wasnt impressed with any hardware that was out in the Android world. HTC hasnt been impressive since the M7, LG was heading the wrong direction with their cheap feel and modular gimicks, the Pixel and its vanilla feel were as boring as iOS, and Samsung was obviously not impressing me with the fiasco I went through.

This next iPhone will determine what I do. Whether I stay in the iOS market is riding on how impressive this phone is. I dont care about cost like most people because of the carrier financing and I have Sprint's iPhone for life plan. If its a dud then I am almost certain I'll be packing the LG G6 around next year. As impressive as the S8 looks, I cant go back to Samsung after my experiences with their hardware. The G6 looks incredible and IMO its a huge step forward for LG.

My contract ended last year, so I would've upgraded to a 7. However, my iPhone 6 worked fine enough, and the 7 didn't have enough new features. Depending on what the new iPhones this year, I might upgrade, or I might wait a while longer.

Just had to ask, totally off topic, but is that Tommy the Titan from Illinois Wesleyan as your avatar? IWU class of 2005 here. Woo-hoo! I actually played Tommy for one college event. Pretty fun.

This is one of the reasons that I think a previous rumor about them releasing 7s, 7s+, and a separate "Edition" or "iPhone 8" model will be closer to the real mark.

It's not that they want to be in the habit of doing something every "anniversary", but certainly a special edition on the 10th Anniversary of the most fiscally successful electronic product in history is in order.

Just my suspicion...

Gonna kick Samsungs butt with diverse/equality products !! It's no longer about innovation it's about your social/political views that drives great apple products, cannot wait to see that pipeline of amazing products....
