If it has touch ID embedded into the display, a nice OLED display, and has above a 5.5 inch usable display, I'm all for it. Would love to see better performance in low light conditions for the camera. As others have said, it's about a $5 increase per month so it's pretty manageable for those on the upgrade program

I've been very torn between replacing my five-year old cMBP with the 2016 MBP or some kind of Surface device, and though I was heavily leaning toward the MBP this news threatens to push me back. Regardless of what computer I buy I want a phone that connects with it seamlessly (so iPhone for MBP or W10 M for Surface).

I know W10 M is effectively a dead platform but all I care about is syncing calendars, email, contacts, etc since I'm not a big phone user in the first place (I don't text many people and only have six apps installed on my current 6+). For this same reason I find it difficult to rationalize spending what will probably be $1400-1500 CAD on a phone designed to be replaced within two years – especially when MS's latest phones from late 2015 have all the iPhone 8/Edition's really more features at a third to a quarter of the price.

Even if there is a cheaper, pared down iPhone this year as well, it feels lame to know I'm not getting the best Apple has to offer (and will likely miss out on upcoming iOS features down the line that depend on the higher-end hardware)

To me, 64 GB was the perfect median. And now Apple has it where it's a significant jump from 32 to 128 to 256. Although I currently have a 32 GB and I don't require to use all of that space, but 64 GB was nice to have just in case you needed additional space, but not having too much where you wouldn't use it.

Believe it or not, I could even survive on 16 GB. But I do appreciate having 32 GB being how photos/videos and software updates consume memory now.

16GB is getting to be a little tight if you want to upgrade the OS OTA.
[doublepost=1494768584][/doublepost]I had historically been on the new platform cycle. The 3G. 4. 5. 6. The 7+ I went with the plus so there would be SOME visible difference :) No plan now to buy after a year, so I guess I'll be on the second year of a model after this.

My se is only 16gb and while I'm not a power user it covers all my social media stuff and everything i need day to day and still has around 7gb free. I use my old lg g3 as a tablet basically now. The iphone excels in the natyery department in ways no android has figured out yet. In around a lot of android users daily and every brand has the same issue with the battery just unable to make it a fukl working day without being charged. I can go almost two full days and i use it a kot with the brightness never lower than 70 percent.

You have to be a complete moron to spend that amount on a phone, Samsung has the same stuff on there cheaper phone, and now that apple is copying we have to spend a grand, GTFO, that's stupid as hell, as long as a phone text, calls 911,email, and is reliable that's all you need, if anyone pays that amount are either full of themselves (no excuses) or stupid, apple lately has been charging more for less quality, when steve jobs was here you got what you paid for, ever since cook apple products are more expensive for crap quality, I broke free of apple this year after the stupidest laptop they release, $1700 and no ports, brought a hp for $900 and is more powerful!!!! WAKE UP PEOPLE your living in a bubble!

OnePlus 3 is only 362 US dollars, or 2499 Chinese dollars in official China website.

Going to be millions and millions of "morons" as you put it

but in reality how many will buy their phones? alot more will start new contracts or are in upgrade every year options.

Also with the resale values on iphones you could spend £500 for the iphone 8 if you sell your old device for £500-600.

It isn't only the phone but you are getting the whole Apple infrastructure. I take a picture on my phone and it automatically shows up on laptop and iPad - same with contact changes, calendar etc.
Also you don't have to buy the 1,000 model - there will be, according to rumors, the s models which will follow the old pricing.
We don't even know if that is the price or the real features etc. People might end up saying 1000 is cheap for what you are getting.

This just made me chuckle.

No, there is no magic going on here. Photos get uploaded to cloud and then shows up on other devices. Google photos does the same for free on all devices.
Contacts and calender sync? Seriously?
Pretty much every smartphone has that.

Apple infrastructure lol.

Lol :D
I hear you on that.
It's not the only company that offers such things nowadays.

True, but some people prefer integrated 1st party solutions.

I will do what I done last year, get one with my free yearly upgrade and buy 2 from Apple and sell them to people who a stupid enough to pay a premium.

That premium paid for my 256gb 7+ and my 7 is left in my car all the time plug into CarPlay.

Definitely a buy for me. I paid $969 for the 7 Plus so I am not really that far off. I have unlimited data now and can afford to go to 128GB if needed. It's only about a $4 a month increase so I'll be placing my preorder as soon as I can.

iPhone is already too expensive, there is no way I'd pay that much for a smartphone.
In my country iPhone 7 (including taxes) is 799 euro, about $870 for 32GB, since I need more storage I'd have to pay €909, about $999.
A device costing $999 in the US would be about $1300 in most EU countries, and that's insane for a phone. We'd get close to a month salary.
I'm a developer so I need iPhone to do my job, but I think I'll stick with my 6s for another year, so a 3 years upgrade cycle. And Macbooks are getting expensive too, so my 2012 MBA will serve me for at least another year.

The 8 is suppose to the high end model and there is suppose to be a 7s that an evolution of what we have now.
