Barely passable? What are you recording, your whole day? I think the battery runs out before your memory is full. Also cloud storage.

I use icloud storage, but that just pushes all of the data to all of your devices. Plus I like having everything with me all of the time. I have 3000 photos and 102 videos and that is over 25 GBs. I also use "files" so my mac files are there. I am sure that is probably on the low end by comparison.

I hate it when people spout "cloud storage" as the answer to everything. Not everyone has unlimited data plans or the desire to wait for data to transfer from the cloud when they want it. Some may not even want any of their data in the cloud.

Silly my iPhone will have as much storage as my 2016 MBP but if you step back it's the same "upsize" marketing Apple has always conducted with iPhones. What has changed is that we've gotten into storage levels that satisfy actual data needs now.

512gb? For a phone? That's ridiculous. Hopefully, that means that Mac SSD pricing drops significantly or capacity goes up.
But it's not a phone is it? It's a mini computer! For me, it's a video streamer, music player, Pro audio recorder, vlogger, camera, camcorder, sat nav, radio, alarm clock, egg timer, internet device, social media unit, FaceTimer, photo album, something that holds my HD film collection & videos, iMessage, WhatsApp and maybe just maybe, once every two days i'll make one phone call on it! If anything, it's a MACBOOK MINI :)

exactly. They know everyone going for the pro model will dish out the extra cash. With 4K video recording, 64 is barley passable.
Except they're now using H.265. Forget about that?

Hahah yes it holds your HD film collection that you never watch. It's merely a great way to have you give them more money because they know that you want to store a bunch of stuff you'll never use on it.

512 would be awesome. I could hold all my music again.
And never listen to 90% of it

If you're recording 4K video, you could easily fill up the 64gb (less than that in actual usage space) really quickly

I agree, especially with the FANTASTIC 4K 60FPS (luckily it'll be HEVC or it would have been 1GB PER MINUTE, this is going to be 500/600MB per minute).
Out of internet, of all of my friends who have iPhone 7, none have gone for the 32GB option and have 128GB instead. I was planning on the 256GB for the iPhone Pro but wow, 512GB!!!

64gb is plenty for me so I'll probably go with the base model this time around.

When will Apple send invites to the September event? Shouldn’t the event be happening within the next 3 week’s?

Last year they sent out invites on the last week of August, so we can expect to know the date in less than a week, I'd say monday

4K video is about 300mb per minute. While I don’t strictly disagree with your sentiment, I doubt the battery would die sooner than the storage would fill. Assume you have nothing else on your phone you’d fill the 64 gigs in a little over three hours....

Actually doing the math that may legitimately kill your battery haha. I’ve never actually tested battery drain while recording though.

I don't really keep much on my phone. I've used 40/128GB on my current 7+ and most of it is stuff transferred from my 6S!
I'll gladly stick to the 64GB this time.

That’s what I was thinking. It’s really incredible that the computer in our pocket will have significant flash storage yet desktop Macs which are more expensive (even high end 27” iMacs) still ship with HDD as the base.
