Why fix something that isn’t broke? The 6 to 8 iPhone size is a great design.
It's really not about low effort. People want a more affordable iPhone to purchase.
I was just suggesting to shrink a little those huge 2010 bezels, so not something extraordinary that could make the phone not be affordable like you are suggesting(and exaggerating).Retooling factories costs money. Getting teams to sit and redesign a product costs money. If they pump R&D into a new design it isn't going to be affordable.
The choice? Buy it or don't. 🤷🏽♂️
It's going to be the worst sales model with old design, low spec, no OLED. STUPID APPLE!

Because the 6/6S are not the same body as the 7 or 8, despite the nonsense you hear. Those cases were never compatible.Besides this “SE”, why don’t they list it as compatible with 6/6S/7/8? Why just 7/8?

I don't know what would be more confusing... iPhone 9 or iPhone SE-but-not-the-original-iPhone-SE.
I’m sure there are plenty of people who just need to buy a phone right now.
Well it does matter here. If someone buys a screen protector for their SE and it’s .7” too big because both phones have the same name, then that’s a problem.
It's a low priced iPhone...
You'd be surprised how many people don't care that it has an "old design" or no OLED. Apple enthusiasts (ie. anyone who regularly reads and posts on this site) are out of touch with the average consumer. It might even be possible that Apple, the trillion dollar company, has access to a bit more market research than you do?![]()
Certainly the most archaic looking.

Not all of them know. Especially when it's pitched as a brand new product.
It’s not here though, is what I’m saying,It will likely be called the iPhone SE (2020)
As this "small" phone is still unwieldily large compared to the original SE, that's completely missing the point.
Gross. What an insult to the iPhone SE legacy.
So no Plus model, eh?
Look... Apple will never make a 4" phone again.
By calling it the SE, the thought police will be sending the size of the original SE into the memory hole. 2 + 2 = 5.I don't know what would be more confusing... iPhone 9 or iPhone SE-but-not-the-original-iPhone-SE.
Careful on saying "never"...
Meh... I'm not worried.
If Apple makes a tiny phone again... I'll be wrong... and you'll be happy to get your perfect phone.
But I really, really, really don't think that's gonna happen, man.

Again, who said "tiny" is needed?
Literally anything physically smaller than an iPhone 8 would satisfy most of us looking for something to go to after our current SE's
Well it's not happening in this cycle. Sorry. All rumors are pointing to a phone that is the same size as the iPhone 8.
And do you really think Apple would make another new phone sized somewhere between the old SE and 8? And one that is supposed to be their budget/entry model?
Apple already has three phones at the top of their lineup. That's where there main focus is.
I don't think they will be spending time or money creating a new form-factor for the bottom of their lineup. This is evidenced by the fact that they tend to "recycle" older designs. Quite often actually. And since they're not using the old SE as the basis for this new phone... that's why they're sticking the only other available design (8/8 Plus)
I hear you... you want a phone physically smaller than the iPhone 8. Message received.
But you will probably be disappointed. And you need to prepare for that.![]()
Lots of supposition and speculation there...anyhow
Let's move on - No need to respond to me anymore on this.
Cheers
