Saw a youtube video where the 8 Plus had to reload apps/games from memory which took the youtuber SuperSaf by complete surprise as he had never seen this before.

iOS was always excellent when it comes to memory management.

These days. Android really needs a min of 2gb just to be functional. Ios can still get away with 1gb and be functional.

The issue is android memory management can be very poor since android still let's many apps run wild with memory usage. So each tries to launch faster. By running in the background.

Saying that. 3gb is the lowest android ram I would consider these days. 4gb should be the standard in android.

Ios 2gb runs the same as 4gb android.

some videos are coming out where the note 8 is beating the new iphone in multitasking. Is this due to the issue of IOS 11 not being able to help with 3GB of ram? having a samsung/android phone beating the iphone in multitasking was seen as impossible or unheard of. Should the ram be increased?
Apple is very frugal wth it RAM. The new 8 gets same 2GB as the 7!

How many apps/games was he jumping between. I’ve just opened and played 4 games on my 7 plus, and was able to switch between them at will and pick up where I left off with zero loading.

When i see problems it is typically when moving from a game -> messaging -> Camera -> eMail - > Browser and back to a game.

Allowing multitasking in the background isn't very poor management.

Its called functionality.

Just had a quick watch of the video. I’m not at all shocked that a device with twice as much memory is able to hold more apps/games in memory.

I currently have the following apps/games open:

Safari
Traffic racer
Traffic rider
Onenote
Sniper 3D
Messages
Clock
Mail
Marine Traffic
Due
Textastic
Git2Go
Settings
iBasket Pro
Music
App Store

When I switch to each one, they are instantly responsive with zero loading.

Of course if I just keep opening more apps, some will eventually need to reload, but I have to ask......how many apps do you need to flick between at any one time. Also, if I don’t use an app for a few hours, is it really a problem if I have to wait a few seconds for it to reload when I go back to it.

It's more complicated than that.

Facebook app on Android drains battery more than ios even disabling every Facebook process. I have both Android and iPhone. I refuse to install Facebook app on Android in order to save battery life.

Just a quick Google search will show how certain android app drain battery. Android even in 7.0 still doesn't do a good job shutting down memory consuming and all's battery consuming apps.

If on pixel I ran only the native installed apps. Battery life is outstanding.

New phone, new bugs to iron out, happens to all of them, I’m sure they are already working on an update to sneak in a fix. Not like they don’t know it’s happening, there’s dozens of videos popping up daily showing the issue lol

Those are some bolt statements. But I guess you got the proof to back up that the Note 8 beats the crap out of the iPhone 8 plus?

So as for the just released brand new A11 chip with 3GB of RAM, something is not right here.

Have you actually watched those videos? I mean it's basically in 90% of the cases no difference and then in some cases the iPhone 8 plus has a 1 second reload where the note 8 doesn't. That's not and I quote the "Note 8 beats the crap out of iPhone 8 Plus". I don't see an issue other than the Note 8 having slightly better multitasking, which nobody is gonna notice in any real life scenario as far as these videos show.

This phrase was a hyperbola, figure of speech.

But that's not the point. The point is, are we ok with that? It's the same processor and RAM as 1350 EURO device (iPhone X) in Poland. With only 3 GBs of RAM. So you pay 413 USD more for iPhone than for Galaxy Note 8 and you see the videos above.

The second thing is, it's not only about the multitasking, some apps do open faster, which again, with that horsepower and future-proofness isn't too optimistic.

And it's not only the speed, check out the cameras (at least this will be better in X, because of f2.4 and dual OIS):

Ah...fair enough. If an apples to apples (7+ to 8+) comparison shows a difference, then there is an issue, but at least it’s likely a software bug rather than anything hardware related. :)

doesn't the note 8 have 6 gb of ram and its just now holding its won against iphones? it takes double to keep up/beat? that not something to brag about.

Well, whatever the outcome, 6 is a higher number than 3. I know there's logic in there somewhere.

Actually the S8 plus (the only phone the iPhone 8 plus should be compared with) does well also in ram management against the iPhone 8 plus...and it only has 4 GB ram....btw S8 plus is a beauty

Interesting they bumped up the RAM 3 times in a row...

6 Plus = 1GB
6S Plus = 2GB
7 Plus = 3GB
X/8 Plus = 3GB

If any 3GB model will be stressed it will be the X since it has a higher resolution than the 8+. But I don't think it'll get in the way. The newest iPad Pros have 4GB of memory and they have much higher resolutions to deal with. 3GB for lower resolutions should be just fine.

2gb ram runs fine even with my almost 3 year old iPad air 2 with the high resolution. Plus 2gb ram finally got rid of the annoying iOS safari webpage refreshes.

I believe the reason for 3gb ram on the bigger 7 plus and 8 plus and X has to deal with the duo cameras in the back and the processing of images. But for standard functions. 2gb is fine

As a current Android user, that is conviced of changing to IOS because is sick of Android lag and sutters, should I be worried buying an iphone X?

These software glitches is exactly the thing I'm trying to run from when changing form Android to iOS :/
Get a Note 8, no lag and overall an excellent phone. I had been using the 6s plus and 7 plus the past 2 years and wanted to try out Android again since the new iPhones aren't that interesting and so far Note 8 has been awesome.

Don't blame Apple for your poor internet connection. Also how much RAM does your toaster have? Why do you care?

I only had the note 8 for a few days but it was definitely a very fast phone, great multitasker. Just not up to par for my gaming expectations, got spoiled with iPhones performance that way.

But if I was to choose an android it would definitely be the note 8, it’s a beast of a phone

There is no right or wrong answer here

Yes there is. There is a definitive, right answer to how you should allow iOS to multitask and manage apps - the way it was designed, and the way that has been proven time and time again to be most efficient. You’re simply choosing the wrong answer because you’re an illogical human (like the rest of us) and prefer to do things the other way. That doesn’t mean you’re right however, or that there isn’t a subjective right answer - it just means you chose wrong.

Just saying. Again.
