I sure do love me some Apple products, but the trend line continues in a downward direction for ther lack of innovation in designs and being able to deliver products in a timely manner to the market place. As a shareholder, I'm begining to worry about this a lot!

They are behind in just about every catagory and I'm at a loss to exxplain why?? Cultural cement golshes and the inability to move forward? The big beast beaucracy no longer allows nimble designs to move effeicenly? With billions in reserves, maybe they have lost the "hunger?"

Not sure, but it is troubling to say the least.

I'm going to read tons of you guys complaining and saying you'd never buy the new "color", only to see them sell out immediately. I want it. NOW!
I can see how a mirror finish would be popular, but it's not for me. I'm still a huge fan of the matte black I got with the 7 Plus, so I'm hoping they have something similar for the upcoming hardware.

Don't be one of those guys that has to get the new color because. Get what you like not because it's new and flashy. If they came out with pink phones would people jump on them?
Lame

So mirrored finish like all iPods had? The funny thing was every one of mine got scratched to crap and I never cared.

Out of curiosity.... was the shiny metal on the back of your iPod covered with a sheet of Gorilla Glass 5 to be conducive to wireless charging (like the back of the iPhone Edition will likely be)?

Lol, obviously I'm being rhetorical- but my point is:
Gorilla Glass doesn't scratch NEARLY as badly or easily as polished metals!

You got me lost now.

You don't put a Ferrari in your pocket nor hold it in your hand.
A Ferrari doesn't fall, it's stuck to the ground, and most of the time it's insured.

So what you're saying is a car, that sits outside, and braves the elements of nature and humanity and goes 200MPH on rubber is unlikely to get damaged? BTW Applecare is Insurance.

Sorry for losing you. If you don't know, it's extraordinarily common practice around here to fault anyone and everyone else for anything that might be even a minor negative toward Apple. It's always the other guy's fault- be that:
  • the patent holder (cast as "troll" unless it's Apple patent for which "intellectual property SHOULD be protected),
  • analyst (saying anything negative about Apple but the pro-Apple analysts are very well received),
  • reviewer (wrong when the review says anything negative but praised & quoted as absolute fact if it's one big gush-fest review)
  • competitor products with any tangible advantage not in an Apple product (which are "gimmicks" that "99% don't need" only until Apple adds the same feature to an Apple product and then it becomes a "must have" essential)
  • users (who shares ANY problem or issue, even if others chime in with the same problem. They are ALL wrong
"because I have a (same) _______ and mine works perfectly").
  • and so on.
So you basically faulting users for getting bodily oils/grease on a mirrored surface is typical, casting doubt/fault on users instead of the entity potentially choosing to return to mirrored metal finishes. Anyone who still has an early iPod can probably go dig it out of a drawer and find it's mirrored back covered in fingerprints. I bet there is hardly any human users with such devices that don't quickly deposit finger residue on the backs of such devices.

I know what you meant, seems to me you didn't get it why you lost me.

I said

Oh common, most people don't have such greasy fingers so it won't end up like that.

It's says exactly that, it's not as bad as it is.

And, I do criticise Apple once in a while.

So what you're saying is a car, that sits outside, and braves the elements of nature and humanity and goes 200MPH on rubber is unlikely to get damaged?

No.

BTW Applecare is Insurance.

Plenty of people without Applecare, Car insurance is mandatory in most countries. (AFAIK)

I wouldn't worry this year with the iPhone 8, it will sell lots in China. (lucky number is 8)

Hmm... mirrored isn't a color.

Hmm, well, let me think about it.......

red = red bounces off, all other colours are absorbed.
blue = blue bounces off, all colours other are absorbed.
green = green bounces off, all colours other are absorbed.
Black = absorbs all colours
white = bounces all colours off, stays white.

Mirrored = All colours are bounced off the way they came in, so, in a way it is all colours, you see them as separate colours.

Remember all those GUYS that bought the iphone in GOLD because it was new?

They looked like girl phones! hahahaha OMG they were rocking girl phones.

If it were pink some apple fans would buy it because it's new.

Nothing wrong with guys liking girly stuff. Gold , pink or whatever.

Strive to be happy, not enough time on this earth for us to make it a point to match other peoples expectations what things should be like.

It's 2017 !

What a strange rumor. I have seen on Amazon some cases from Asia that are designed to make iPhones look like they are made of colored mirror glass. It makes me think an iPhone and a Disco ball had a baby. :p

Oh well, I don't quite believe this particular rumor has any merit, but if it does, I am sure I could find a lovely case to hide any results I don't like. I am more concerned about what the display looks like and what the new iPhone can do and how well it well perform.

I stopped worrying so much about looks once I stopped chuckling over the fact my iPhone 7 Plus reminds me of Bender the robot from Futurama. That weird looking lens configuration works so well, I can't be bothered to care that it looks goofy.

Goodness only knows what kinds of designs we are going to get in an era where they wink and joke about naming their OS "High Sierra" and will be working in a faux spaceship in the middle of a fruit orchard. :D

I really wanted an innovative and market leading design with proportional value for money for the features offered. Not just because it's a new model and has Apples name on it I steadfastly insisted I would not be distracted again by charity lunches and rehashes with less features than before under the pretence of "courage". No those days of naïveté are long gone. I demand a proper .... wait. Mirror finish you say. Pretty colours. Look! Pretty colours. Me buy new iPhone 8 NOW! Loooook ...shiny! .... new phone. Nice. Nice shiny new phone ....

I thought the white had a white front, however you got the black one (replacement screen I'm guessing) it looks sick! I would buy a white one in a heart beat if it had no bezels or black front. I love the storm trooper look on just about everything I have!

That is a custom iPhone 6, they don't sell them in white, only silver. Your thinking of the 5c, which also has a black front by the way.

It's going to come with gloves designed by Jony to minimize fingerprints. They will be the most intimate product Apple has ever developed.

I like the sound of those gloves1. I would like to get a pair of those for my wife sounds as though they could work for more than just keeping fingerprints off my iPhone 8? I just might have to find her a pair of those! Thanks for that description of the product and she would never turn down anything of designer issue.

iPhone 8, with even more courage!!!

New Feature: 7 years of bad luck with every cracked glass backing.

How convenient.. no need for an *actual* mirror, just stare at your phone (not that we don't do that today anyway). I bet this would attract scratches more.
