You know they have a USB-c to lightning cable (not a dongle but a cable)

Anyway I'd go for one of these phones since I've already had pretty much every iPhone since 1

Can't wait got an upgrade burning a hole in my pocket this sounds like it's going to be the best I phone ever .

Am I the only one who is really freaked out by this facial recognition rumour? So, all anyone has to do to unlock my iPhone is point it in my face? Or worse a photo of me?

Cool your jets. You don't even know how the tech will work. Existing facial ID technology utilizes a depth map, so using a photo is impossible. Security is always at the forefront of Apple's concerns, and they're not dumb. So I wouldn't freak out until I saw the actual product.

putting the newly minted touch-bar from the MacBook pro on the bottom of the iPhone makes sense. You can have 3 add'l modular functions there, including touch ID, should they implement the patent they filed a few days ago for screens that read fingerprints.

Iris scanning =/= facial recognition. I cannot see them ever implementing a half-assed solution that can be fooled with a photo of the owner.

enough with the dam iphone 8 talk i bet there will only be a 7s and 7s plus all this hype makes the phone not look good when it doesnt have what they think, its months away just chill out and enjoy the 7 and wait for apple to officially announce the next one, so bored of these stupid rumours

So the bottom part of the screen will basically be used as a touch pad? That will confuse alot of people and eat up screen space. Not sure about this ..
What is the harm to fill in the black space currently to the right and left of the home button with a screen with extra controls? It doesn't have any screen space now, so no screen space is lost. Sure, having additional controls there (on top of the home button) could make the UI more confusing but it could also improve things. Without having seen (and used) the actual device, it isn't really possible to say which of the two it will be.

a) My nephews are pretty good at pointing my thumb onto the home button of my iPhone.
b) It is quite possible that additional sensors are used (IR, depth recognition) such that a simple photo wouldn't work.
c) It is far from clear that this would replace the fingerprint sensor completely, ie, you probably will have other options (besides going back to a passcode) as well, ie, not requiring you to use the facial recognition.

The bottom of the screen will be similar to the touch bar on the new MacBook pros... and looks like it'll be an iPhone 8 in 2017 after all...

Not to toot my own horn, but I predicted both. (Though to be fair, a lot of people predicted iphone 8, but I didn't see anybody else consider the touch bar applications on the phone like I did - and these are just rumors so who knows).

Apple leaks to Kuo. Kuo leaks a rumor. Price is estimated to be over 1000$. Kuo rearranges the rumor. Price is expected to be over 1000$. People get used to the expectation. The phone costs 1.199$. Kuo is rewarded.

Welcome to 2020. Apple celebrates its first iPhone costing over 2.000$. The crowds go wild with excitement.

This far out, Kuo's predictions aren't that good. A few months prior I'll start listening to his predictions.

Last year he kept harping on three iPhone models with one having a dual-camera and one being plus sized with a single camera. Didn't make sense, and it didn't come to be.
He is looking at prototype models including prototype hardware from suppliers. It is thus quite possible that he hears of different designs tried by Apple with Apple later deciding to only go forward with some of the options they tried out.

I doubt this is going to happen because Apple spent so much time and resources on litigation to defend the big bezels with tiny display trade dress that they wouldn't give it up to look like a Samsung Galaxy. That's the reason the last three generations of iPhones haven't changed and the next generation iPhone will likely look the same.

I'll pass, Apple hasn't even updated their software to work properly with their current hardware. So any new hardware to me seems extremely pointless unless iOS is getting a full blown overhaul... then I'll jump on the hardware bandwagon.

Nah, the UI won't be more confusing. Android users have been used to it for years. I personally don't like it, which is why I go with Samsung's S series phones. But it's nowhere near confusing.

So if you want a big phone, you are stuck with a 4 year old design? How is that good?
5.15" effective screen size (possibly even a bit more if parts of the current control UI could be moved to the bottom part) is, in current iPhone terms, a biggish phone (with Apple currently offering 4, 4.7, and 5.5").

Seems the 5.15" usable area would be smaller than the usable 5.5" area of the 7plus. Am I missing something? It would be hard to transition to a smaller screen now that I've gotten used to the plus one. Ideally the usable area remains the same in a form factor that is slight smaller package than the 7plus. That to me would be a huge win.

But since I'm on Apple's one a year upgrade plan I'll be getting a new phone anyways, so why not the OLED model even if the usable area might be slightly smaller...
