So I have an IPhone SE and I’m debating between the regular 8 vs XS how would you compare the two on one handed use and ease of use in general? Thank you any advice is greatly appreciated!

Are you wanting to go bigger? XS is a tall 8. Reachability works well on XS.. I never used it on my 8+.

Yeah i would like to go newer and maybe just a little bigger, I’m worried about putting the screen protector on an XS since I’m used to just having the built in one on my Otterbox defender iPhone SE, I heard Apple puts the belkin ones on for you but they have a lot of poor reviews so it’s been a headache trying to make a decision

I don’t use screen protectors but I have seen Apple install them.

Why don’t you like screen protectors?
The iPhone glass feels perfect. Plastic protectors feel horrible to me. Glass protectors add depth that I can see.

I don’t sweat the small micro-scratches in oleophobic coating. I’m careful with my phone screen. Use a microfiber cloth. Don’t swipe in sandy conditions. Heck, I washed my 8+ about once a week in the sink.

I’ve never had actual scratch issues. Phone doesn’t go in a bag or pocket w/ items that will scratch it.

Glass on these phones is very durable. Ignore this advice if you work in an environment that is more rough on gear.

They really just stay in my pocket mostly with nothing else in that pocket, if I got the 8 how long do you think apple would support it for?

The 8 is a great phone. Unless you do intense games it’s good for 2-3 years at least IMO. May need a battery after a few if you’re a heavy user.

Not into the gaming much, more into streaming sports and using social media, my battery on my SE is at 88% after 2.5 years so not too heavy of a use

8 will manage that for years. If you don’t need/want latest the 8 is very good hardware.

Hm, for me reachability without home button is almost unusable (gesture area is too small - if they made swipe down anywhere new reachability gesture, that would change it for me) - heavy reachability user on 6s plus/regular 7..

So did you upgrade to the XS?

Of course you can take any advice you want from other members in this thread, but my best suggestion would be to physically handle both of these phones at a store to see what you fine Most comfortable in your hand. That’s probably the most practical thing to do.

The iPhone 8 is still a great phone.
I had it for almost a year since I got the Xs.
The 8 is the last phone with Touch ID and the well known form factor, which I like very much.

Most who had an SE would prefer the 8.
8 is smaller than XS, vastly lighter. Thinner. TouchId.

I went with the 8, and after a few months it’s still hard to use one handed coming from the SE. I’m constantly using reach ability which just makes everything slower to achieve.

An XS would just make it worse.

The area seems reasonable. I have pretty big thumbs and can pull down well. I just did while typing this and was able to engage it from on top of space bar and below it. The V key is too high.

Go with the 8.

Easier for one handed use, lighter, no notch, no PWM, has Touch ID, cheaper.
PWM?
[doublepost=1541245956][/doublepost]Dont I wish the XR was the new SE 2, they should have done that, just take the current SE and make it all screen and make it like a 5 inch screen instead of the awkward 6.1 inch screen that has a bigger screen than the flagship XS and is cheaper.
[doublepost=1541246109][/doublepost]Thing is though the 8 is only a little smaller but you do have to bring your thumb all the way down to the bottom of the phone on the XS which makes it feel bigger
