iPhone Air 2 Expected to Launch Early Next Year With Five New Features

I just hope they do something about speaker but I see no mention of it in the leaks
 
As a iPhone 12 mini owner I rather have a smaller phone than a thinner phone. A iPhone 17 (Pro) makes more sense to me. The whole line up is heavier than the mini anyway and the current line up doesn't really excite me. I am curious about the iPhone Ultra (foldable). That would be the widest iPhone ever, but the overall form factor seems interesting and compact to me.

A additional camera on the second-generation iPhone Air would be an improvement.

im thinking about the air 2 vs. the 18 pro vs. the current iphone 17 with 512 gb storage. Still undecided on that fact

The chip also improves the overall performance and reliability of features like AirDrop and Personal Hotspot.
  • Apple's second-generation C2 chip for 5G. Apple says the current C1X chip is already the most power-efficient modem in an iPhone ever.
He expects the next iPhone Air to stick with a 6.5-inch display, 12GB of RAM, and an 18-megapixel Center Stage front camera.

Apple reportedly plans to release the iPhone Air 2 alongside the regular iPhone 18 and a lower-end iPhone 18e around March 2027. The higher-end iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and foldable "iPhone Ultra" are expected to launch this September, with the devices in the lineup rolling out at different times as part of a new strategy.

Of course, there was always going to be an iPhone Air 2. I’m sure it’s going to have a vapor chamber as well. Apple is putting one in the iPhone foldable. With an A20 Pro, it will need it.
I hope it gets a second speaker, too.

I kept telling that to people who said it would be gone. The Plus phones continued to be released for three years, though. 14, 15 and 16 Plus. I think iPhone Air is here to stay.

I'm waiting for that even if it's not pro level or base 17 quality it just needs to be added that's all

The new chip/modem/etc in the Air 2 may improve efficiency enough to eke out additional battery life, and maybe prevent the phone from getting as hot as often as the Air 1. But the magnitude of these gains could be too small to improve sales, we’ll have to wait and see.

I don’t use the extra wide angle camera, but many do so that might help sales, especially if battery life improves by a meaningful amount.

Titanium is classier IMHO, but it’s objectively worse at thermal management, and there’s no room in the Air for a vapor chamber cooling system, which works surprisingly well on my 17 Pro.

Well, you can’t have everything. But will the Air 2 be improved enough to sell significantly better than Air 1?

The Air 2, like the foldable iPhone ultra, will have a vapor chamber.

It will have a vapor chamber, just like the iPhone foldable.

I didn't know how I was going to feel about the camera bump, but it all makes sense in use -- for me, anyway. When I'm interacting with the phone in my hand, it's all with the thin part of the body, so the feel is great. When the phone is in my pocket, the bulge is far less noticeable than with any other phone I've had. and when I pull it out of my pocket, the camera bump makes for a very nice-feeling handle.

Overall, I love my Air more than any previous iPhone. I just can't get over how good it is.

My personal wishlist:

- louder speaker (I don't care about stereo, but volume is a bit low)
- vapor chamber or some other thermal improvement
- fine with single camera but please give me JPEG XL RAW Lossy at least
- silicon carbon or some other battery life improvement

That's literally all I would change about this phone; otherwise it is completely perfect for me.

Still mono speakers?
And please don’t tell me that after it gets useless 2nd camera module it will be heavier.

It needs ProRAW, not multiple camera modules. And it need to also be even lighter, maybe smaller and easier to hold in hand to be called Air 2. It is beautiful but I still don’t want to replace my Pro with this thing. Not having stereo speakers is a big bummer in 2026
 
In the 3rd iteration they can't add anything more to it maybe a new screen tech to further cut down on the weight. Not sure what else they can do maybe add some features from the 20th ann iPhone ?

you dont feel the camera bump holding it, i dont really notice it at all, most of the phone is just really thin and i notice than in my pocket and when i hold it, even vs a regular 15 i was coming from. I feel it less in my pockets even though its bigger and i love the feel when holding it
