I upgraded to a iPhone 17 Air from my 15 Pro model with T Mobile, normally I upgrade every year, but being retired and on a fixed income, now it’s every other launch.

I decided to go with the light blue model and after receiving and seeing it in person, the phone is beautiful. It’s lightweight, thin and very well made.

I also went with the Apple clear case and actually used the transfer app from my old phone instead of a restore from backup and I was surprised how easy the process was to complete.

After it copied all my data and apps and waiting for all my apps to be installed, the phone was up and running in about 30 minutes or so.

I had to re-enter a few of my banking and social app passwords, but that’s normal. I have been using it pretty heavily since noon today and the battery life is great, the screen is fantastic and the OS is smooth and I am loving this phone.

I am very happy with my upgrade and will post another review after using this beauty for a solid week as my daily driver.
That's good to hear, I still debating if I should trade my 16 pro max for it. How about the photo quality? have you tried the new camera on the air?

Got my Sky Blue Air, gorgeous. I went to go check out the Pros in store and they definitely feel less premium. I also compared displays, it seems like the Airs were slightly brighter than the Pro and Max when I turned off auto brightness in accessibility… however with it toggled on, the Pros were a few nits brighter. The Airs were also more prone to color shift. I guess this is due to panel variance with LG/Samsung/BOE? The bezels are also thicker on the Air however the titanium frame around the frame are thinner than the aluminum on the Pros that they are pretty much equal.

Pretty happy I chose the Air, way way sleeker.

Yup. I keep telling my wife every time I pick it up how wild it is.
Caution!

Just set up my 17 Pro Max, easiest phone set up yet. I actually expected it to feel significantly heavier than my 15 pro but it doesn’t. I th8nk the weight is distributed better with the plateau.

No it’s not. The volume is low when making calls on speaker and the sound is tinny. I’m in law so this feature is a must. It sounds like the iPod touch speaker.

Maybe mine’s bad because I can’t imagine Apple shipping this.

It is a bit tinny and max volume is lower than my 16p by maybe 10-20%. I did speaker calls on both and they weren’t drastically different though. It’s definitely more apparently with music. But this wasn’t in a noisy environment. I was on instagram for about 20 minutes on it and max volume was too loud for me at home. I’m comfortable using it at 50-60%.

I mean to be fair it sounds like speaker quality is a priority for you and it’s one of the known tradeoffs. Apple ships it because in reality it’s not a bad speaker and in general speaker is less of a priority for most. I mean, just look at how many people walk around with AirPods in all day.

I was so excited for mine but the speaker is rubbish, worse than expected, and it’s significantly smaller than my Pro Max. Might return it for the orange 17PM :(

That’s my main disappointment with the air. The other features aren’t as big of a deal as i can live without them. The speaker is something you use and listen every day. We know Apple are like this.

But it isn’t enough to return the air for me. It’s not terrible, just not as good as pro/pro max.

Next year….”The new iPhone Air has stereo speakers!!!!!”.

I think if I did purchase the air (not going to) I’d def run this phone naked and just get a dbrand skin for the back and get AppleCare +

Felt so good in the hand , would suck to just cover it up with a case

that's how I am using my Air. No screenprotector and case. AppleCare+ is my protection. This Air is not made for using a case (my 2cts)

The Air is impressive but obviously a Gen 1 product. Next iteration they’ll have two cameras and stereo speakers and they’ll sell it as a revolution and I’m gonna get it then.
it is def a Gen1 product. Let's find out if the Air is following the Mini's path. In that case, bye bye iPhone Air in about 2 yrs from now
