Has my Air nearly 2 days now, fallen in love with this device.

Using it case less & I love how easy it is to handle despite having a 6.5” display, one handed use is easy due to its weight and thinness. No pains or fatigue whilst holding it for long periods.

Still can’t believe how slim it is, like using just a screen. Incredible and sleek & love the space black.

Whilst the camera system is lacking some features it’s capable of capturing some excellent shots. The next gen portraits and the ability to take portraits of any object is a big win for me.

Obviously performance is top notch with the A19 Pro paired with 12GB RAM.

Battery life is more than enough to get through the day. Will be monitoring this as things settle down in the coming days and will post some results.

Had one person ask what phone it was whilst using Apple Pay.

It has convinced my other half to upgrade to the Air from their 3 year old 14 Plus.

Air is what next xs max should be.
As i know apple - Air 2 will have stereo speakers and Air 3 two cameras etc etc 😀
Yep and all Air 1 owners that are saying don't care about speaker or camera will upgrade.
Apple is smart lol
Camera and speakers matter most IMO. Most people don't have cameras anymore and who wants to put AirPods in every time you want to watch or listen to something.
Of course air buyers will say they don't matter but they did for previous phones haha

As a new Air owner I agree and said something similar yesterday. But I don’t think those people are wrong or lying - for the vast majority of people, they are not issues in daily usage. I’ve had pros for years and only discovered macro mode after reading the Air doesn’t have it. The camera I use the most outside of 1x is 0.5, so that bothers me a little. The speaker being mono doesn’t bother me in the slightest.

Those comments are still true even if we acknowledge the phone will be even more enhanced with another speaker and more cameras.

But I remember a time in the not so distant past when people laughed at the idea of paying more for stereo speakers because a phone is so small that those speakers are close together. Now apparently it’s a deal-breaker.

I’ve been going between the Air and my 16 Pro in its case. The comfort and weight is immensely noticeable, and I’m currently torn between the extra firepower of the cameras and the overall experience of using them.

tested both with maxed out or with 3-4-5 clicks bars. For a smartphone its really pretty good for a iPhone with a mono speaker.
Really, for me all of these posts/topics of the mono speaker here on the forums are so overblown (like al lot of other topics here)
Agreed. Especially if you’re a civilised person and listen to your music with earbuds / headphones!

I mean no one here uses a speaker out in the wild, right?

I have to say one thing about the Air.

I really really love it, but… As for the battery, the 13PM is light years ahead of the Air.

5pm yesterday: 100%
9:30pm: 75% (2h 20min SOT)
5am: 66%
10am: 19% (5 hours SOT)

These consumptions are better (not that much) than those I got from the very degraded battery of the 13 Pro Max (80% battery health).

Either I start leaving my phone charging overnight or I'll continue to have to do two small charges during the day.

This doesn't make me consider returning it (no way, I fu***** loving it), but it does reaffirm that I won't keep this device for more than two years. By then, I hope there'll be an Air 2/3 with better battery life.

The camera situation is a pretty serious downgrade if one is coming from a Pro phone.

I'm not sure this is the future of all phones.
I think that the air is really meant to replace the regular iPhone, eventually.

I suspect next year the iPhone air will be like the Samsung edge and have two cameras.

Plus (hopefully) a silicone carbon battery for extra battery life, which the iPhone air seems to be made for.

Yes, I know that battery degradation is meant to be worse with this tech, but this shouldn’t be an issue in what will be a classic early adopter product (ie most owners will upgrade in the next 1-2 years).

It’ll still be a downgrade from the pro, of course.

I’ve been using a PhoneBack from Süti for some time now on my previous phone, and it was perfect for my needs, so I’ve ordered one again for my Air. It arrived just now. It’s about as thick or still a tiny bit thinner than a caseless 15 pro. It also remains lighter. I wanted to share some pics. I might go back to caseless for my Air though. I already got used to it in the past couple days, and it’s just too nice.

I’ve been torn on adding a case. I can see instances where I could drop it. But then I think if I’m adding any heft to it I should keep my 16 Pro.

I also don’t get the single speaker drama. Granted I only use the speaker on my iPhone at night in bed watching YouTube or listening to a podcast while cooking and it’s perfectly fine.
Agreed, it’s not that bad and it’s front facing at least but I’m a minimal phone user which is kind of where this phone is marketed towards but like most Apple users if it doesn’t fit their needs it has no place. Additionally, we’re in a world where people think it’s socially acceptable to have calls and listen to music on speakerphone in public so folks who do this hate the one speaker.

iPhone Air here - so far battery has been abysmal, what am I doing wrong? (Screen active time ~1h50m with 40% battery left)

hi

i think the battery results you are showing in that screen shot are, to me, concerning. to be sure.

but then again, your screen shot indicates the following:

1 it was taken off the charger at 08:08 am.
the time of your screen shot is at 15:06 this is 8 hours from the last full charge.

2 you are 40% capacity after 8 hours of use.

3 its showing a average across two days at 60% capacity

4 you only have less than 3 days with it, and things are still getting sorted out

5 you were 31 minutes on FaceTime. a known killer of battery

6 your cell network coverage is only 2 bars out of 4.which would kill even the C1X modem that is energy efficient.

i would think, if i had the same set of parameters, and the battery was still at 40% that i am doing ok.

i would, also, go through which apps you have given access to use cellular. and i would make sure that some apps only are allowed to use wi-fi and not cellular. 2 bars out of 4 means that its looking for a cell tower.

i would also have bought the MagSafe battery pack as well.

Is it me or some apps don't currently support the new screen resolution of the Air? While the native iOS apps are correctly sized, some apps (such as Reddit) appear to be scaling using the base iPhone's resolution, resulting in an enlarged image -- maybe 10% larger? Hopefully the developers of these apps update them soon as all these new phones have the same 460 ppi.
Not just you. We have a Western Digital cloud device which I upload my photos onto via their app. I currently cannot do it with the Air, as the “add” and “cancel” buttons are in the upper right and left corners touching the time and battery indicators where they should be below it.

Interesting. Apple has used 6.5” displays in the past as recent as the 11 Pro Max so it should auto adjust I would imagine. Would not be surprised if it had more to do with the liquid glass UI and WD being a generally lazy company.

Speakers in a smartphone will never ever matter to me. My phone is on silent most the times, and I have iPad and MacBook if I do need to watch content. My phone is my email, and texting device lol idk why its so hard to believe that some people dont care about the speakers on their phone loll

Finally held one of these…and I get it…its feels so nice. Rocking a 16pro so I dont see myself upgrading this year, but im looking forward to the next iteration or maybe the foldable :p

Loving the air so far, first iPhone in a long time that has felt a bit different.
Think it might be my favourite since the OG and the 4.

The speaker thing (for me) is an absolute non issue, fine for my use case which is the odd insta reel / youtube if I'm on my own. I can count on the one hand how many times I have watched a film or TV on my iphone when I have an iPad Pro, either way I'm using airpods.

Battery life is too early to tell, only got it last night so probably a couple of days before it normalises. Using it like I normally would today - Off charge at 6:30, 1 hour commute to work using maps (for traffic). Currently sitting at 70%, (after 7.5 hours)expect that to improve, but it will still be absolutely fine at that rate.

Camera - Don't care, if I need to take good pictures I take my actual camera. Its good enough.

Coming from the 14 pro, appreciating the smaller bezels and generally snappier response.

Would like more case options!

Most people aren't saying these things don't matter or that they don't care about them. Most are saying that they can live without having the best speakers/cameras as a tradeoff for other things. And of course people will upgrade lol. Why wouldn't they? Nobody is going to say no to upgraded speakers/cameras like it's some badge of honor to stand pat with the original Air. 😂

Btw, speakers really aren't a dealbreaker for most. And the speaker on the Air really isn't as bad as many are saying--it's just obviously worse than those on the Pro models. Unless you're one of those clowns who browses social media at full volume in public spaces, the Air speaker will work just fine.

Has anyone used a bare naked case before. I think I have only dropped an iPhone once outside before (with a case and was fine) but they don't look to offer much in the way of drop protection, though I guess that's the point!

It’s not even the camera, monospeakers, or battery life, I’m willing to make those sacrifices for a phone this beautiful. It’s the width of the phone coming from a 16 Pro where that fit perfectly in my palms. I have smaller hands and use my phone caseless, using this phone was not much different in reachability compared to my 15 PM. I’ll take comfort over all and will think about exchanging it, but man this sucks since this is the most interesting iPhone in years and maybe my favorite designed phone. Thinness doesn’t mean much if I can’t use it one handed. :/

I’m with you here. I don’t use the 16 one-handed much as my silly little thumb doesn’t reach all the way across, but the swipe keyboard nails it most of the time. The Air is just that marginal amount wider.
