No that's true. Wider isn't better for one-handed use.

I'm curious do you use your iPhone one-handed because you must (like when standing on a subway) or because you want to? I haven't used my iPhone with one hand in many years. I find two-hands far more natural now.

It's a must because I pretty much only use my phone in situations where I can't use two hands. When I'm free to use both hands, I use a cellular iPad mini most of the time.

Every phone will feel heavier than the Mini iPhones lol the Air is 24g heavier than the 13 Mini, which isn’t a lot considering the much larger and more immersive display.

My brother used an SE2 until it died and now he has a 13 Mini and he’s going to keep using it until that thing literally dies! He’s got over the fact and accepted there won’t be another Mini.

I did sell him a 16e but he’s got it in a drawer because he thinks that’s too big and heavy 😃

I have a Mini 12 as a backup phone and it seems heavier than the Air now when I hold it. I guess that's due to the difference in weight distribution.

If I understand correctly what you are asking:

From your home screen long press and then choose "edit" on the top left. Then "Customize". It will then let you choose light or dark version by clicking on the "sun" icon in the customize window. You can also select either "always" or "Auto".
Yes I found it, but only ios 26 stock wallpapers have own "dark mode" version of wallpaper.
Otherwise only put some darkness on same wallpaper as you have set.
Probably have to set some shortcut which change wallpaper to black one (for air) in dark mode.

So after news AIR could be discontinued I will definitely get one :)
But it's crazy how you have different picture from internet community and reality: good opinions vs real sales.

So here's my frustration with that "news." The truth about how well the Air is selling will only officially be known when Apple makes its quarterly or yearly updates about sales. I have ZERO idea about how many Air units Apple estimated to sell and how many they are actually selling. I'm not convinced that these "analysts" actually know either. Apple has not helped its cause with very little advertising of the Air.

I find it very hard to believe that Apple will discontinue any product (esp. an iPhone product) after one cycle. Maybe I'm 100% wrong, but a lot of these reports about the Air not selling seem like clickbait to me. YouTubers are not the only ones who are after eyeball attention... Economists can do the same thing.

Check out the article on this site posted a little bit ago. Now they are saying the Air 2 is expected to be released in the Fall of 2027 with the 20th Anniversary edition phone.

Link to this news?

It doesn't say discontinued, but cut for over 80% of production, also Samsung news about scrapping their second generation ultra thin phone, it's looks grim.

Will see. There are many contradicting rumours.

I gotta say, now that I have been using the phone for a week, this phone is so so nice. First I tought the screen is a bit big for comfort and a little too thin. I found a nice cheap case for it and now I really like it. Thickness is pretty much perfect and now I understand the appeal of bigger display when browsing the internet. One handed use is a bit difficult for me but it was also with the 16 Pro so take that with a grain of salt.

Sure the battery, cameras and speakers could be better. But those things aren’t really worth over the lightness of this thing. Battery is only problem with heavy gaming but seems to be pretty good with my day to day use.

So overall, if they keep this model in their line up, Im gonna keep upgrading and using them.

Launch day owner here.

- I came from 16 Pro, 14 Pro Max, 14 Pro, 13 Pro Max, 12, 11, 7 Plus, 7 before this.
- I like XS Max in Gold in terms of design and screensize and Air is almost like XS Max in Gold with some tweaks. (It is quite interesting what would be screen time on ios 26 with XS max and same screen (6,46" vs 6,55") and same battery as Air
- Single Speaker - If you create shell from hand in the side of speaker, you can hear sound exactly from middle of screen. Try it !
- After every year of iphone upgrades, I have joy of using as my first "newer" iphone which was iphone 7 (and probably 13 Pro Max...)
- Camera - 4x or 5x on my 16 Pro is soo close so i mostly used a 2x. And if you have low light conditions iphone will use wide camera for zoom as well.
- Battery is not great as Pro Max models - but I took this from opposite side - First time after years I deleted not used apps or turned off backgroud refresh for them, turn off most notifications, which only disturbed me and trying to keep "minimalistic" phone. Before that I open 10-15 all around, checking notifications and doomscrolling. If 6-7 Sot is not enough for me it is something wrong with me and my daily usage. In short - Air saved my time by not limiting my usage, but limiting my unuseful and procastination usage
- I still absolutely love the feel of the phone in-hand as well
- Screen size is exactly what i whant and why I love XS Max which I never had as I said... Not too big not too small, one hand usage, great typing...

I changed my M3 Macbook Pro for Macbook Air 15" M3 and it was the same feeling as nowdays with iPhone Air.
Keep light thin and minimalistic laptop and phone, which is very "Apple" in terms of design and technology.

I'm not native speaker so please correct me in message or reply and I will correct my review.
Hope it will helps to someone.

Love the Air. Today is the first day I’ve been truly annoyed by the battery life. It hasn’t been a problem before. Currently using low power mode to get thru the night.

You can move your e sim between your phones.

Some carriers don't make moving eSIMs easy (or free). I think there are still carriers in some countries that require a visit to the store to get a new eSIM.

Even in the US, there are MVNOs that don't support eSIM quick transfer but at least getting a new eSIM QR code is usually free.

Indeed, over in Europe there is also many carriers that require either an in shop visit or ask you to go their portal.
I’m currently testing a 17 PM and Air to decide which to keep and changing sims is just a hassle. Quick transfer is nice if only they would support it.

I remember last year the eSIM transfer didn’t work for Vodafone in The Netherlands, but this year during the phone setup the eSIM transfer worked flawlessly. So maybe it’s working for more carriers now than you would think.

Never lol. Tape one ear shut and problem solved. Apple, do you see what you've forced some people to do. 😂

On a plane ride, the Air was a pleasure to hold one-handed in landscape. Paired with APP2 of course. The only time the shameful landscape + speaker combo is used is during DIY car projects when I have to pull up something in a pinch.
