Thank goodness I have a screen protector on my Air. Went hiking and already have a massive scratch on the screen protector. Phew.

Is there a simple method to turn stock gold air wallpaper to black one in dark mode ?
You can choose the darker wallpaper in the add wallpaper section by swiping through them.

Or you can have this one 😁

i want a light gold stock wallpaper in light mode and darker version (e.g black wallpaper for air) in dark mode 🤔 weird that stock air wallpapers doesn’t have a dark mode versions…

Weight is not overhyped.

For me I have carpel tunnel and have had surgery’s on my hand & the weight difference and how comfortable the in hand feel of the Air is vs the smaller 17 Pro was very noticeable to me, that 40g really made a difference.
My wife is always pro max user since 12 pro max updated every generation.

Lately she is concerned that her pinky visually looks bent as an iphone pinky holder. Also started having wrist pains. She always told me the pro max is the way to go (partially because she doesn’t have anything else in tech so one big phone it is).

I am just surprised it took so long to affect the wrist.

I used hand me down pro max for 4 months, and suddenly started having a wrist pain all of a sudden. I never had wrist pain even doing weight lifting.

My theory (subjective) is leaning back to primal functions of the human as in apes. Our hands are not equipped with magsafe nor they have pinky stands. All the problems with pro max starts when people try to one hand them - which is quite natural because you would expect people to use one hand only.

So if one uses pro max strictly with 2 hands due to habit or smth else, they would be fine because weight is distributed evenly on 2 hands.

But if people one hand it, then pro max with case and screen protector gets to whopping 0.64 lbs of weight. Obviously in the grand scheme of things this is nothing because people lift more in the gym. But the difference is that phones are big part of modern person, and screen times are ever so increasing ranging from 3 hrs to 12 hrs.

One handing 0.64 lbs eventually gets the most people. And that is because we were not built to fidget around such a heavy weight 24/7 by nature.

I’ve had a few Pro Max devices over the years including the XS Max. The larger screen is more immersive, always better for viewing content and seeing things clearer, and with the ever increasing size and weight it’s taking its toll and one handed use became impossible.

The 14 Pro Max was the one that caused the most pain in my wrist and fingers. Like you said it’s only natural to want to use one hand and there’s times when only one hand was free, and this meant resting the full weight on your pinky finger. Way too much bulk and weight.

The Air has completely changed the way a larger screen feels in the hand. It’s very thin & light and the only iPhone with a larger screen that actually causes me no pain whilst holding it, even for extended periods of time resting on my pinky finger.

Because it’s so comfortable and such a joy to use I guess the downside is than I spend more time on it that I should lol.

With the Air, I’m using again my MagSafe Wallet: the light weight make the wallet again comfortable to use (like with my glorious 12 mini), something that with the 14PM I wasn’t able to enjoy.

The Air is without a doubt my favorite iPhone I have ever had. I don’t understand the criticism for this one and to me it has no compromises.

The overall design, thinness and light weight is wonderful. I enjoy holding and using the Air and I never could say that about previous iPhones I have had (4s, 6s Plus, 11, 13, 15 Plus, and 16 Pro).

I’ll compare this phone to my previous phone, the 16 Pro

The battery is great. I kept hearing how it has bad battery life but I’m pretty much getting the same battery life as I did on my 16 Pro.

Speaker is very good. Going into this purchase this was the thing I was a little concerned about but it’s been really good. Listening to videos in YouTube and doing speaker phone calls is very good. Only a very slight downgrade from the 16 Pro but so slight it’s irrelevant. Even my wife who has a 17 Pro Max thinks the speaker on the Air is just fine.

Camera. I don’t think I ever used the ultra wide in the past, and the telephoto past 2x I think I would use maybe once or twice in a year. The 1x and 2x is all I use anyways so the camera does everything I want it to do.

I think the Air is fantastic and I’m really thinking that many of the complaints people have about this phone they are basing it on looking at the spec sheet and aren’t actually using this phone.
What they said⬆️

I have the same issue with my pinky. Plus I had pain in my pinky itself so I stopped supporting any of my devices with my pinky. I've had wrist pain, too, but I already had RSI from my desk job to begin with.

I've noticed with e-ink readers, less than 200g is okay but heavier than that and I need to find another way to support the device. Also, large bezels help a lot when trying to hold these devices.

I had tennis elbow in both for about a year, and everytime I would take a call on my 16 max, after my elbow would really hurt lol, swapped to a 16 pro and it helped a lot, thankfully all healed now, but a few grams can make a difference, well did for me anyway, and I am a 6'3 90kg male.

I never thought about how i like lighter not necessarily smaller phones until it became a problem in general in the whole world.

My xiaomi redmi note 4 pro was like 150-165 grams, for a phablet of 5.5" brick that was very light partially because of plastic. All my iphones were light until they came up with stainless steel and bigger screens.

When i put a case and screen protector, i put them once on a kitchen scale. The case was 40gr and screen protector was 15 grams. So 55 grams or third weight of an iphone spent on accessories so now the real iphone's weight need to be multiplied by 1.33 to get the real weight of the whole package.

I’m at the four week mark now since the Air arrived early on launch day, and absolutely no regrets here. Upgraded from a 14PM and it’s been a breath of fresh *cough* air *cough* having such a light and thin device after the weight of the 14PM.

The slightly smaller screen is not noticeable and I’ve been happy enough with the single speaker for my uses - which is as a speakerphone for audio and FaceTime calls. It’s plenty loud and clear. I don’t listen to music on my phone, I avoid reels and TikTok like the plague, and don’t tend to watch much YouTube or other video content on my phone.

The camera is really good for casual snaps and video of our wee girl. I use my Nikon mirrorless when I want more control and top quality for photos, and if I happen to be somewhere without the Nikon and want more flexibility my wife with her 16 Pro is pretty much guaranteed to be there.

Battery life has been great and is a definite improvement over my 14PM with 84% health. I could count on one hand the number of days I’ve had to top up charge.

I am one very happy camper and wouldn’t change a thing about the Air. I certainly wouldn’t want to sacrifice the thinness for more battery, an extra camera, or an extra speaker. The Air isn’t for everyone but for those like me, it’s a perfect combination and I’m glad Apple has added it to the lineup.
Do you a case and if so which one ?

I wonder if Apple is even going to make an Air 2. Seems sales are low and Samsung has discontinued the S25 edge.
If i were to guess, it takes for them 2 iterations to close the flops. 14 and 15 pluses, 12 and 13 minis and such.

I think Samsung has more agility to close up, while Apple is probably already sitting on ready air 2 plan, so they wouldn’t be able to close sinking all costs - like even their screens is order ahead contract and research by samsung, while Samsung makes displays for themselves. Almost like a 2 year rent when one is stuck paying.

I hope you are right. I love the Air and hope to see an Air 2 next year.

If I understand correctly what you are asking:

From your home screen long press and then choose "edit" on the top left. Then "Customize". It will then let you choose light or dark version by clicking on the "sun" icon in the customize window. You can also select either "always" or "Auto".

How did you fix your tennis elbow? I have it from my desk job just in my right elbow from using a mouse constantly.

I'm one of the returners. Coming from the SE3.

Tried the Air in desperation since Apple's unlikely to make another small phone. Alas, I found it even less comfortable to use one-handed than the 15 Pro.
You bought a big phone and are surprised it was not comfortable to use with one hand? 🧐

There aren't any good options anymore. I figured I'll give the Air a try in case the thinness and reduced weight helps with one-hand use. I'm not really all that surprised. It was worth a try considering many iPhone mini owners have successfully switched to the Air (they probably have bigger hands than mine).

I'm sorta okay with both the iPhone 15 Pro and 12 and the combined dimensions for the Air's backshell is smaller than those. The 2.9-3mm difference in height also didn't seem like much on paper but makes a big difference in my hand.

iPhone Air
74.7mm (width) + 2x 5.6mm (thickness) = 85.9mm

iPhone 17
71.5mm (width) + 2x 8mm (thickness) = 87.5mm

iPhone 15 Pro
70.6mm (width) + 2x 8.3mm (thickness) = 87.2mm

iPhone 12
71.5mm (width) + 2x 7.4mm (thickness) = 86.3mm

If you are willing to pay the high monetary price, I believe you will be very happy with the future folding iPhone for one-handed use when closed.
