So I got the 17 Pro originally, found it to be utter boring and devoid of innovation and literally just the 16 pro in a new wrapper, swapped it for the Air and LOVED it.

Was the perfect size, felt amazing, great battery and screen, felt like the future etc but then all the news came out about sales which is now apparently not true at all (Don't believe the lies) and I thought I had FOMO so I swapped again for the 17 Pro.

Now ill taking it back because its really not worth it, if you have an 11-13 Pro then yes its worth it but 14-16 Pro it is a waste of time and money.

I'm going back to the beautiful future of a space black Air.

Moral of the story, don't believe the pro hype.

If I let iphone on charger whole night i have about 30-40% better battery life during day, than if I unplug at midnight at 100%.
Does have someone similar observation ?

Interesting. During night, is it with optimised charge? Generally I charged mine after dinner/before bed and during breakfast without problems, but I’m curious about that!

This is so helpful. I have the the Air and actually love it. I keep thinking i need the pro though - why? Because well one day i might need a better camera but I barely take photos and i think for photos of family/children this is a great phone. I keep getting FOMO with the pro though! Your story made me understand I do actually love the air!

I have optimized charging but not used yet.
I think that making some "clean, backup, indexing" processes after whole day of use or something like that ?

OH no!! I'm sorry! Does "weathered" mean broken? Dead? Gone for ever?
Thankfully screen is fine and wasn’t affected. The screen protector shattered but no damage to the screen. The damage is pretty deep scratches on the left titanium side across the top and the bottom. I mean, I’ll get over it. Just annoyed that I finally dropped it.

I have had my iPhone Air, 24hrs and it really is a thing of beauty, and has replaced a Z Fold 7, which was the worst Samsung phone I have ever used, and find the Air a breath of fresh air, and does everything I need, and lasts longer than everyone says...
Interested to know why your Fold 7 was your worst ever Samsung phone?

The internal screen failed twice, think this was the main reason and it just to me felt a bit off having had the. Fold original, then the Fold 5 and Fold 6, so decided it was time to swing away from Samsung, and come back to the iPhone and decided on the Air...
Oh wow. That’s terrible. Did Samsung replace the inner screen? I read that durability was an issue with the Fold 7. How are you finding the Air? Which is nice and slim.

Surprisingly, Samsung cancelled the Galaxy Edge S26 phone in development and is stopping production of the S25 Edge due to lackluster sales. Samsung came at the thin phone concept from a different angle than Apple, since they already released multiple generations of folding phones and used the Edge to attempt to steal the Air's thunder, which it clearly did not. There's an open question about whether the Air will see another generation or make way for Apple's folding phone, which to me would be a strategic mistake. Apple's now the only manufacturer making such a unique product and they should capitalize on that with a marketing push soon. There are different market segments for the two products and should be treated as such.

Seems now that are working on an even thinner phone just not the S26 Edge.

Well, I traded my 15 Pro Max in for a 17 Pro 2 weeks ago. While I liked it - enjoyed the reduced size, it still was a bit too heavy and I was really missing the larger screen (especially when it came to typing).

So, the last day of my 14 day return period, which I never do for an iPhone, I went to Apple and asked if I could trade in my 17 Pro for an Air. The looks I got around the room from other Apple Geniuses was very telling. Some even congregated behind me to see what was up (Apple Store was fairly empty today when I went).

Well, I'm one day down with it - very happy with it. I'm getting a dbrand grip for this (had one on my 17 Pro and it was chonky (but was ok with that)). Typing on it with my larger hands is a lot easier than the 17 Pro.

I don't get the finger press in eye feeling reading on this like I did with my 15 Pro Max. (Also didn't get that with the 17 Pro). So, I returned my iPad Air (purchased same time as 17 Pro - 2 weeks ago) to help pay this down with the intent of moving all my reading to this or my MBP (tired of so many devices).

During setup, I take off the bumper case (which isn't bad) and set it face down on my metal monitor stand - makes the phone ice cold. lol. Got a MagSafe battery - which is surprisingly very cool, even with heavy use - unlike the Anker 5000 ultra-thin I have.

You definitely get that - forget it's in your pocket feeling - which I've been wanting for a long time.

I want a thinner phone and a lighter phone with a more pro-max display.

Gotta say I am shocked to read this. I never thought I would read you went for the Air. Good on you for stepping outside the box (as it were) and be willing to go against what is familiar.

I'm guessing that comes from this report (Android Authority)? If it's true I have to give credit for Samsung's unyielding ability to throw stuff at the wall to see if it sticks. Though this part gives me pause:

Making things even more interesting is that this new Galaxy S26 Edge is expected to come with an aluminum composite frame and a reinforced titanium substructure, similar to the iPhone Air but unlike the full-titanium Galaxy S25 Edge.

Besides the poor comparison to the Air's construction, Samsung is making this new phone with cheaper materials? That would be a shame. The Galaxy S25 Edge may not have sold well, but it was built well with premium materials.

I am a bit surprised too. There was a tiny voice saying: Get the Pro Max! But I am tired of heavy phones that I don't utilize (my heaviest day I used 20% of my iPhone 17 Pro battery in the 2 weeks I had it).

So glad I didn't listen to that voice. Also the YouTube videos don't do this justice. I took several photos and I'm very happy with them. I realized MOST of my photos were with the 1x or 2x lens.

The screen is a nice upgrade from the 17 Pro. Typing is pleasant and I'm looking forward to using this as my primary book reading device for the next few years!

I am proud to be part of the Air club here. It's got some amazing Macrumors members part of it. :D

They did under warranty, but had to wait both times for parts, but cant fault the UK repair centre they where excellent.. But yeah durability was a big issue.

Im loving it, I forgot how nice light and thin phones where, it reminds me of the likes of the Ericsson R series back in the early 2000's (im that old) and its a bit different to any other iPhone I have had :)

Just ordered the black one. I had a matte black 7 Plus which I kept for 5 years or so, and used a 13mini after that. The decline of its battery and my eyes made me look at the iPhone 17PM, but the Air is so much closer to what the 7 Plus was - there too, 1x and 2x, no ultrazoom or ultrawide which I didn't miss then either, the same thin package but with a larger screen...
