Funny thing: the same issue was on iPhone X and 8, 8 years ago. Apple fixed it in a software update later. I also bought an iPhone X in 2017 after the start of the sales in EU and actually never encountered any issues with the speaker.
yo just want to say, went back to the apple store today, they ordered a replacement for me (didnt have it in store) will have it in a few days. Hope the new one is cool

sure ill report back, but itll probably be monday or something till they get it so you should probably exchange yours before your two weeks ends (theres also defect warranty though thats longuer)
I was at Apple reseller today and checked 2 airs on the showcase, 2 of them had crackling sound, so I think replacement will be with the same issue

yeah sucks, might be this first batch, since theyre ordering mine in, hope it will be a newer batch, but if the second still does this i guess ill just live with it

Please watch this video on max volume or even 80% will be ok for test: https://www.youtube.co…ch?v=5Dc-5DD8P-0&t=55s
It appears you’re just stretching a non existing issue. There’s several people here saying their phone is fine and you seem to display disbelief.

And why is it that you have only just joined this forum for this one issue? I’m starting to sense you’re just closet trolling at this point.

If it was non existing, then there will be no such many people affected by this, including me. I’m just curious, that is why I have sent a link to test it. I’m reading this forum and news from around 2013, just there was no need to register before

What are the odds that 10-20% of Airs have a perfect speaker? Goes the same way. How do you know the percentage? You think every iPhone user gets on this website and post their experience?
More like 90+% are fine with good speakers.

Probably less than 10% have an issue and warrants replacement.

Forum members here are probably the small percentage of the general users and never have this issue, but are making a big deal about it.

It's like the EV social media forums I manage as site admin where the members consistently complain about something wrong all the time making it sound like it's everyone's issue; but in reality, it's a very small percentage.

So if 90% devices are fine, according to your words, how can it be that all Airs from showcase, that I tested in official stores, are with those problem? I tested about 3 devices yesterday and overall about 9. All of them from different stores.

Every AIR I have seen has this has this distortion issue at max volume.

Seems like they increased the max range of the speaker to compensate for the only have a single speaker. Some EQ tuning may be able to correct it.

Agreed, I'm talking about the same thing. But I can say not even maximum, in some cases it could be if speaker volume set >50-60%, depends on the content, eg Google Meat with colleagues or some specific music with high pitches

@stas336

SRY my english is broken. 😕

I have the same problem with my Air. I bought it for the launch and returned it on Tuesday under warranty. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting.

In 4 out of 10 YouTube videos, there's a terrible crackling sound above 50% volume. It sounds like something's fallen in. I'm afraid the repairman won't even look at it and will send it back as is. Maybe he'll clean something up.

Best regards.

Pozdrawiam.

If you are having speaker trouble you’re not holding it right. Kidding of course. But seriously, I wish smart phones had no speakers at all so I didn’t have to relive crappy am radio sounds like I heard as a kid from every goofball that had one and refused to use an earbud in public. Get ear buds and spare us the public nuisance. If you need a speakerphone at home or in the office get a nice bluetooth speaker.
