iPhone Air With Dual Lens Camera Coming in Spring 2027

Yeah, well, that means I’ll be skipping it, because I have no interest in carrying around a thin phone with cameras sticking out of the back.

In my opinion, a true Air should also be genuinely different from the regular iPhone and the Pro. As thin as possible. As light as possible. Comfortable to hold. With the smallest camera bump possible.

But no. The people who hate the Air want to turn it into a Pro. Their demands are always the same: multiple cameras, more thickness, longer battery life. They can’t just buy a Pro. They also have to turn the Air into a Pro.

They can’t tolerate the existence of the Air, even though the Pro already exists for people who want all those things.

The air needs to be a superset of the regular iPhone at the very least

Change the single speaker to two as well and Apple can have my money.

Ummm unless RAM prices push its price sky high.
 
I could not believe that Apple did not utilize a Si/C battery in the Air. I actually really like the idea of the Air and after handling one in the Apple Store that other day, I was seriously looking into buying one. But now I’m going to just hold onto my current phone and see if they make marked improvements to the second gen.

So many people laughing at this comment. Why? if you want a large phone you can't use one handed, you're spoilt for choice. We're just asking for one model. Just accept that some people prefer smaller devices for multiple reasons. Not just that its easier to use with one hand or carry around, but also if you want to limit screentime more. Having a smaller device, I have found, is less of a distraction.

Yeah, this is a real question. I’ll just go to the Apple Store and check it out myself, but it doesn’t really reflect well on the forums here to get jackass responses like that.

I don’t necessarily miss a second camera, and not near as much as I miss an extra speaker. Design wise I would prefer they just made a more versatile single lens camera since multiple cameras has ruined the design of almost every smartphone.
(The tiny pill shaped dual camera on X / Xs wasn’t too bad).
 
Done with big heavy phones, i love the air and the camera is fine for 99% of what i need, the 1% is a fair trade off for having such a light thin phone in the pocket. I love this thing! I haven’t touched my max pro in a long time.

I think the biggest change will be a new battery pack design that will push the capacity to over 4,100 milliamp-hours. That plus the efficiencies of the A20 SoC, C2 modem and N2 I/O chip will mean battery life per charge of 75-80% more than the current iPhone Air.

I am plenty happy with my current Air and don't need the second camera so I'll pass but glad it is gaining the second camera. This way more people will give it a chance. Personally if I was getting another Air I would want it to be smaller and lighter than the current model.

IMO I think it would be better to add a second speaker than a second camera but that's just me.
 
I was afraid to buy Air...especially battery life...but after having best model since the beginning I didn't want to do downgrade to aluminium just because titanium is to expensive. So I when my 16 Pro Max took a dive I used the moment to try out Air and it's the best thing came out of Apple since M1Pro. I have to admit in 9 months few times I missed wide lens on few occasions...and no spatial videos for my AVP is a bummer. If they fix that I will love Air2.... of course only if rumors about foldable not having MagSafe will be true. I am waiting for foldable ...but can't imagine having a phone without Magsafe. Some things are a must in the phone.

I don’t get it either. It’s one thing to argue the merits of a device, but it’s another to have a go at people for liking things.

My brother has a 12 mini, and doesn’t want a bigger phone. Not that he needs to upgrade it, the Air is his only viable option.

Personally, I find the mini too small to be useful, but that’s why I never got one. I understand why people like them though.

I'll probably be sticking with my 17 Pro Max for a while, but I'd at least consider an Air with dual cameras. A single rear camera made it hard to pick over even a regular 17, and the Pro was too good to pass up this last time around. Close the camera gap and it'll be more of a choice between weight and zoom lens.

it's far more useful for macro photos than ultrawide. Unless they can reduce the main camera's minimum focal distance even more (the current Air is 15 cm vs the Pro's 20 cm), I'd still want an ultrawide.

I take pictures of things at a distance, more so than I take macros of Butterflies. Using a Telephoto for a group photo or something where the background is important is a much bigger use case for me.

The main customer issue isn't the second camera, it's the price. The Air costs nearly the same as the Pro. It's hard to pass on the Pro for just another $100 bucks.

That said, I'm finally due for a new iPhone in the next 12 months so I'll likely get an Air 2 as soon as it's out. It reminds me of the iPhone X with its white back, chrome edges and streamlined front.
 
I had one... twice. The form factor and screen size was absolutely perfect. I was doing tons of home improvements and the lack of the wide angle became an issue. I sold one.. then thought I could make it work again and bought another. Nope..

Give it another camera and a wee bit more battery and I'm in

I've only seen two. But also how many 17s and 17e's have you seen? Not sure if I've seen any myself. I mainly only see 17 Pros. I'm probably biased to notice the Air since I have one, so that may be why I haven't noticed any 17s and 17e's. 17 Pros are just hard to miss.

Airs are uncommon for sure, but when it comes to seeing phones in the wild, other factors may also come into play besides sheer numbers--such as my Air bias and 17 Pros being hard to miss. But also Air users may generally not be as heavy phone users as say Pro users, so their phones could just not be in hand and in view as often--especially when it comes to using the camera, which might be when a phone is most visible. Most heavy users probably went for something with a bigger battery, and most heavy camera users probably went for a Pro, which may be why it seems like people taking photos and videos are always holding a Pro. Many 17 and 17e users may not be heavy users too, although some probably are heavy users but the Pro was out of their budget. In any case, while it's almost certain Airs are the least popular iPhone of this 17 generation, and Pros are probably the most popular, it's possible there are more Airs out there than it seems, and more non-Pro iPhones in general.
