17e has the worst battery life.
That's false information, 17e has a 4,000 Mh battery with a 6.1" 60 hz display, so will generally last longer or on par with the 17 Pro in between charges give or take. The iPhone Air has fairly decent battery life, all this talk that it has terrible battery life is well overblown.

How would carriers market it because usually iphones and black friday/christmas sales...carriers give discounts on their phone plans but now that the base 18 and air 2 is in spring...so spring sale then ?

That would probably be what'd make me buy an Air over a Pro.

But let's see, maybe I want the foldable.

Count me in as another wanting the second camera to be telephoto, not ultra wide. I’ve always had the Pro Max phones and I use the telephoto camera all the time. The ultra wide looks terrible, I never use it.

I have the 17 Pro Max now and I would love the lighter Air size, but not at the expense of the telephoto camera. Why is Apple hellbent on locking the telephoto camera to the Pros only?

I’d be interested if they’d make the two cameras wide and telephoto, but I use the zoom too much to move away from a Pro model. Am I the only one who just doesn’t use the ultra wide due to the fisheye effect?
I need ultra wide, or it's a no-go for me. I'm a draftsman, and sometimes I go to client's houses to measure them up and I need to take reference photos, and the ultra wide lets me get much better reference photos of small rooms. Also, it's useful for some nice macro photos.

What am I going to do with telephoto? I didn't even use my telephotos when I had a DSLR. My Canon 50mm f1.8 was almost permanently mounted to my camera.

Honestly, air looks awesome.

make it slightly bigger screen.
reduce performance to increase battery (no on is going to buy air and torture as pro)
bigger foot print gives more space for battery

Apple says the 17e has the worst battery life. If you've found that to be untrue, let them know it!

The iPhone Air is my absolute favourite iPhone. While the first generation has some drawbacks like every other Apple product, it’s always a blank canvas for future models to build upon. These… shortcomings are only apparent when compared to other devices, not when you actually use the phone. However, those comparisons aren’t really relevant because the Air is unique and doesn’t quite fit into other categories. It’s also quite hilarious how many reviewers who initially criticised its “flaws” ended up having it as their daily driver.

in short, I still can’t understand the widespread dislike for this device, especially from people who haven’t used it, but at best only spent a few minutes in a store with it. Every single person on these forums who owns an Air absolutely loves it – if that’s not an indication then I don’t know what is.

Every iteration of the Air is an instant day one purchase for me.

Will it have macro capabilities? I switched to a pro 16 from a mini, because mini had no macro. I miss my mini, the titanium pro is very nice, but big and heavy for me.

The current air looks stunning, but the best would be bringing back the mini!

I've played with a friend's Air and love the form factor, but lamented the lack of a second lens. This will make the device more compelling to users like me. Looking forward to seeing what Apple packs into it.

I forget this even exists. I never see it in public. Hopefully one day they can differentiate it a bit more, perhaps by making the display a bit smaller as more of a spiritual successor to the mini. My wife is still holding onto her 13 mini and refuses to upgrade. We really need to upgrade the battery in it soon.

I absolutely love my iPhone Air, I upgraded from a iPhone 16 Pro and haven’t looked back. The only thing I realised I used the wide angle camera for on my Pro was for macro photos. I hated the look of 0.5x view for regular photos.

Apple is working on a new iPhone Air that's expected to launch in spring 2027, reports Bloomberg. The updated iPhone Air could get an Ultra Wide lens in addition to the Wide lens to make it a better value for the money.

An iPhone Air with two camera lenses has reached the advanced testing phase. The device has the same design as the current model with the exception of the extra lens.

Apple also wants to improve battery life, either through an increased battery size or improvements to efficiency. Given that the design of the new model is similar to the current design, there may not be room for a larger battery. The device will use an A20 chip built on Apple's new 2nm process, so it could feature better efficiency.

Multiple prior rumors have suggested Apple is adding a second camera to the iPhone Air to address the main customer complaint about the device. The current model has a single rear lens with a Wide lens, which makes it inferior to the more affordable iPhone 17 in terms of camera quality. The iPhone 17 has a two-camera setup, while the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max have three cameras.

The next iPhone Air will come out alongside the iPhone 18 in 2027, with the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and foldable iPhone set to debut in September.

Nice I'll buy it when my current Iphone needs replacement which takes at least another 1-2 years.

I’m a little bit mixed about this. I made the market for a new phone because the back of my iPhone 16 Plus is all smashed up. The iPhone Air allures me because of its starlight colour and frequent discounts due to its unpopularity.

Then, I use the 0.5x lens all the time, and I would miss it. If an iPhone Air has that 0.5x lens – addressing the biggest issue people had with it – then it will be more desirable and won’t go on discount.

I think the single parameter to define how soon I buy it is how much I like the colour options. Really hoping it's a nice, luxe starlight colour.

I’d would be interested in the Air 2 if it had a physical SIM slot and a telephoto, which is unlikely, I admit.
But e-Sim only is very annoying when travelling, or if you want to use your phone with a second SIM, with a flexible use between phones or routers
