Update: While our source that provided us the information is solid, we just heard back from Apple PR -- they let us know that the iPhone and Leopard are both still on track, and should meet their expected launch timeframes. We'll keep you up to the second with any further developments.

Move along, nothing to see here.

Engadget is pretty reliable usually, but Im not so sure about those news. What could be the reason for this kind of major setback?? Anyone any ideas. But if it proves itself a real deal Aplle would be in troubles...

They're not reliable when it comes to Apple rumors. And hey, they just backed off on it so they got ****ed!

*cough*someonewantedmorepagehits*cough*

I'm disappointed in MR. Verify your sources, or else nobody will take you seriously. You made Page2 for a reason. Yellow Journalism is not appropriate these days.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I can't believe that !!! OMG

...and it looks like I really don't have to believe it anyway.

Engadget now reports this as a false alarm. Puuuhhh...

Move along, nothing to see here.

Though I agree that there is nothing to see, can you please not say "Move along"? If people want to post, they can post. Sorry, it just annoys me greatly when people post "Move along."

Though I think such a delay may be possible for Leopard, I really doubt one would occur with iPhone. I think Apple has probably already finished the iPhone completely, so any delay would be unlikely (though theoretically possible, I suppose, especially if the FCC refused it)

Seriously though. What is going on here.

Endgadget story is posted at 11:49.

It's shot straight to the front page of MR in like twenty minutes? Are you serious?

Did you even bother to take a step back and veryify? Or are we talking about the bottom line here, page hits?

If I get banned, you'll all know why.

The same happened when rumours came about delays until October for Leopard :)

Get off your high horse. If you say that people can post if they want to post, then he did just fine. No reason to complain.

Yea, the iPhone needs to already be in production as of now. The release is in a month.

If this is true. Apple is falling appart.

Delays Delays, and then when they do release an update such as the macbook, it is less than stellar.

Whats next? The New and improved MacBook Pro now with the Radeon x1700! Its 30% fastarrrrrr. Booo.

Wasn't it engadget who reported with 100% confidence that the iPhone would be released on a certain Monday... and then it WAS...

...except it was the Cisco iPhone.

Let that help you decide whether or not to believe this report.

Way to read. It's been denied already.

By all means, post away. I'm pretty sure "Move along, nothing to see here" is a figure of speech.

Update: While our source that provided us the information is solid, it turns out the internal memo we received was actually redacted. (Published after the break.) That's right...

It's a FAKE.

Not that anyone will actually listen...

Just Apple setup to find a source for the leaks ;)

I wouldn't be surprised, considering that the arstechnica says Apple responded to the news with "This communication is fake and did not come from Apple.". Expect one or more firings soon.

And Apple stock takes a near-$3 dump...
On the other hand, it could have been an attempt at stock manipulation.

Take it easy! MR is a site that reports rumours. This, I can verify, is a rumour.

As to the accuracy of the rumour, it's engadget's job to verify that before they post.
