The guts of the 5C, aside from the larger screen, will be more like the 4S than the 5.

One thing I noticed is the bottom of the 5C the speaker / microphone looks different than it does on the 5. Not sure what's going on there.

There has been a fair amount of talk that the 5C is being make for markets like China. Is there any guarantee they're going to sell it in the US? I'd probably bet a few dollars they will but what if the C in 5c is for China and it's only for that market?
Maybe in the beginning they would start to sell 5C in few markets, but at the end it will become a worldwide phone, that's logic.
Actual 5 owners are not intended to upgrade to 5C, the new iPhone needs to acquire new customers or who wants to upgrade from 4 family. And they aren't few...

I think the 5C will have exactly the same internals as the 5, plus NFC..

Absolutely no chance, it needs a new LTE radio at the very least. Apple won't release another handset without 800/2600 MHz support.

You'll never see NFC on an iPhone.

I'm hoping the 5C has the same specs as the 5, I might laterally move, not really an "upgrade", because I prefer the uniform body of the 5C to the 5's designs. My hopes, not necessarily substantiated.

5C will be just like an iPad mini while 5S will be the successor of i5 like iPad 4 which replaced The new iPad (iPad 3)

The 5C will *not* be just like the mini to the iPad, we've already seen the screen size is exactly the same as the 5. The mini is *not* the cheaper iPad, it's the *smaller* iPad.

It does make me wonder, though, if people would consider a larger screen iPhone to be the "expensive" iPhone (if it existed) or equally the current iPhone to be the "cheaper" one should one with a bigger screen ever be launched (presumably a larger screened iPhone would come with a higher price tag)?

The 5S will be just like the 4S was to the 4, just like the 3GS was to the 3G.

As for the 5C, I think the better comparison is that it's more likely it'll be like the iPod nano is to the iPod Classic.

Common news is that 5C will replace the 5...

From my understanding, and this makes sense as well, the 5c won't be directly replacing the 5, but the 5c is the reason the 5 is getting kicked out. There is a difference. They have a new flagship anyway(5s), so they need to kick out last year's flagship to make room for the 5c's production.

That said, I dont think the 5c will be better than the 5 spec wise, but it'll be rocking the same screen size and resolution obviously. It's the 5s's role, being the 5's direct descendant, to address the whole upgrading matter if you're coming from a 5.

I really thing the 5C is going to be essentially the 5 with a plastic body. As a result won't be as cheap as a lot of people think, more in the $450 range.

Replacing or kicking out, in the end the 5 is bound to be gone to the 5C. Take your pick.

The point I was trying to make is that the 5c isn't the 5's successor, the 5s is. It isn't replacing the 5, rather filling in the mid price spot that the 5 is simply too expensive for.

No. The 5 is replacing the 4S; however, if reports are to be believed, the 4S will keep being sold and instead of the 5, we will have the 5C as mid tier.

Still take your pick. Either way, if reports are to be believed, the 5 is getting replaced entirely.

The 5S is just taking the annual slot we know gets filled.

I've already made it clear I know the 5 will be taken out of the line up, not because the 5C is better than it, but because it fills a crucial spot in the price range. That's how I see it right now, we'll just have to wait for the 5C's specs to be released.

According to recent reports, the 4/4s has been doing great in emerging markets so I don't think they'll be taking that out.

My speculation is that the 5C will carry similar to exact specs as today's iPhone 5, featuring a plastic build. So no, it wouldn't be the best idea to trade your 5 for it.

The rumors are conflicting on this...

At first it was told that the 5C would have the same Internals of the 4S.
Then it was said that there would be no Siri.
Then it was said the internals would be of an iPhone 5.

The truth is we will know come September 10th. That is two weeks from this coming Friday.

Personally I don't think the iPhone 5 has been all that great. As far as the rumors of discontinuing the 5 and keeping the 4/4S... I don't understand the reasoning beyond the fact that they are good salers... So is the iphone 5 right? It is the best selling iPhone to date ... Right? I mean so much speculation ... Honestly who can be for sure

Discontinue the 5? That would be like discontinuing their newest Mac Pro or the MacBook Pro with retina or the iPad mini.

They're not going to discontinue their best product in the lineup.

The 5 is the one that started the lightning connector. Why would they want to keep the 4S?

That's the rumor. Is it just speculation? Yes! But as of right now everything is ... I have read 3-4 different analyst saying the iPhone 5 will be discontinued and the 4S will be low end and 5C will be mid range with 5S as the high end... Again rumors... Which is just speculation.

BTW, apple-pride I agree with you, but I'm just going on what I've read from multiple "reliable sources"

Interesting they would say that considering iPhone 5 will be one of the main products to have iOS 7.

The iPhone 5 is the most likely for being discontinued, it's as outdated as the 4S for most of the world.

How many iPhone 5's do you think will be sold on networks that have 800/2600 MHz LTE?

How many networks with 800/2600 MHz LTE are going to want to stock or promote the iPhone 5?

It's dead man walking for the iPhone 5 in a lot of countries.

In China, they pay big bucks for iPhone. Apple is making more money from China than they are from the U.S.

In China, waiting for the 4S. Bigger lines than in the U.S.

Interesting they would say that considering iPhone 5 will be one of the main products to have iOS 7.

Look at the bad publicity already starting about the iPhone 5.

They are starting to allege misselling, Apple don't need this bad PR.

Were you mis-sold an iPhone 5?
But if you still think were mis-sold an iPhone 5, perhaps in a shop, then here's some advice on what to do next.

I think my iPhone 5 was mis-sold. What are my rights?

If you have an iPhone 5 on either Vodafone or O2 and believe the phone was sold to you on the basis that it would work on 4G when the network launched its 4G service, or you were never told the phone wouldn't be 4G ready, then you may have been mis-sold the phone and/or contract.

You could argue, if this is what happened to you, that under the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982, the contract was sold without reasonable care and skill. This would be because either the product's limitations weren't described, or the product was incorrectly described to you.
