That's just pathetic. How do manage to introduce such bug? iOS 2.x and 3.x were fine and now out of the blue i can't use damn alarm properly.

Here we go again... Seriously, this is worse then that Y2k-like Zune bug, only this one is becoming the very definition.

Come on chaps, lighten up. It is a feature of a smartphone. :apple: wants you to relax and sleep long over the New Years weekend. On monday morning it will work again.

The actual bug is, that the recurring alarm is still working

My God, the times we live in that this the sort of thing we can complain about.

It's a device, like all devices, it has errors. Get used to it, as things only get more complex going forward, errors will only increase. It's the nature of the beast.

People need to take some personal responsibility too. If it is utterly important that you wake up at a certain time, why would you depend on a single method of waking yourself? WHATEVER that alarm source was: iPhone, alarm clock, your spouse, whatever.

Any system that can be taken down by a single point of failure is the fault of its designer, and the persons who depend on such a system need to know they just may be in for a let down.

But then I'm an airline pilot so everything I do is designed around redundancy and dual/triple everything. And yes, when I need to get up at the irregular hours I work I set two independent, battery-powered simple alarms.

Happy New Year everyone! May the biggest tragedy you encounter in 2011 be a software bug in your mobile phone!

Okay, that does it! I'm going back to using my Nokia as an alarm. At least it lets me actually choose any MP3 as a ring tone. And it lets me set the snooze time. And it actually rings at the time I set, regardless of daylight saving changes and the new year.

Can't believe they can't get this alarm thing to work, it's like the simplest thing to program, all they have to do is Get the Time, if Time = Alarm Time, then the alarm goes off, dammit! The year has nothing to do with it!

Off-topic: I love your signature!
On-topic: That is pretty lame. The Clock.app has to be the simplest app on the device! Maybe it was "hiding in plain sight."

This isn't a bug, it's a feature!

More sleep is good, and I don't care what you say about being late. :p

What version you on?

Wondering if it's new, or if 3.1.3 might get hit.

I forget. It's whatever v4 minor version the tetherless jailbreak was first made available on. Unfortunatly I can't check right now. Regardless, it's not the current version whcih seems to be the affected version.

First daylight savings time bug and now this... Extremely annoying. Could Apple please fire the people who are responsible for the development and testing of clock application.

Thanks for posting. I am an Emergency physician who has to be in the hospital at 6 am. They also know I am an Apple fanboy and you can imagine the remarks my tardiness and explanation would have triggered.

Thank you very much Steve <cough>idiot</cough> for making me oversleep 2 hours.

What iOS does to times is equal to what icebergs do to giant early 20th century ocean liners.

So let's get this clear, an iphone user believes that alarm clock is complex functionality. Is that what you're saying? Are you trying to achieve new record in setting your standards low?

Sounds like you live in the real world like me. If I was late due to the iPhone bug, its still my fault, no matter how many articles from Engadget or MacWorld I show them.

I just hope that Apple can bring the iPhone up to Windows 3.1 standards and make a properly functioning recurring alarm. Come on Apple, you can do it - just like Microsoft did 18 years ago.

Mine just went off no problem. Perhaps it's people who didn't upgrade last iOS version are having the issue?

As I just posted mine just worked without an issue. I set it last night at 10:00 p.m. 31st December and it went off at 5:45 a.m. Jan 1st.

Wow, Apple has crap quality control. Then again, programming isn't a strong point for Apple: just look at the horrid mess that is iTunes.

4.2.1. Non jb. Ip4. Set two alarm last night, one reoccurring and the other not, around 830pm, to go off at 430am. Both went off. Cause I'm wide awake now at 505am. But I did set my TV timer and my old school clock radio just in case.

Simply embarrassing.

Not as embarrassing as you posting your Windows 7 machine in your signature on a Mac forum.

Honestly it's new years, can't people on MR for once say something positive? Sheesh people, learn to get up on time and to remind yourself of important things rather than depending on your tech device to do it for you. :p
