iPhone Driver's License Support Expands to More Californians

I did the little onboarding thing where it had me make goofy faces and whatnot—and now it’s available on my phone and watch! I’ve been using the California digital ID app for a couple of years now, dunno if that has any bearing on the quick verification. Oh, and I have a Real ID. I wonder if some of the folks being asked to upload their passports still have the previous state IDs?

By the way, the confirmation email I just received from the DMV is the spammiest-looking communication I’ve ever received from a government agency. Lots of alphanumeric gobbledygook in the subject header and message body. I think they were caught with their pants down by Apple’s sudden implementation.

*** If anyone successfully uses only the digital ID in a real-life scenario (i.e., you're not asked to show your physical ID), post here to let us know. (FWIW, California has had a digital ID app for a while, and I have had a success rate of 0% when trying to use it )

I have real ID and use the DMV App since it started, but I keep getting rejected

I use mine all the time from the App, mostly when picking up orders or getting into parks etc.

Yours showed up on the watch all by itself? I had to open the watch app and then it showed an Add button next to the California DL as a card that can be added. Clicked add, and had to redo the verification again, this time with extra steps. Wondering if this will invalidate the one on my phone. And tomorrow I will have to do it again with the iPhone 16.

Yep, I received a notification that my ID was ready on my watch, without any additional steps.

(And yeah, my new iPhone arrives tomorrow too, so I’ll probably have to do this all over again.)
 
Been trying for 2 hours but California still isn't showing up for me in the Wallet app in order to add. I already have the CA one too

Hahah I would estimate that today 0.00001% of businesses know anything about digital driver licenses.

Don’t credit cards transfer but have to be re-verified with each security number? Can’t remember. Anyway, I would imagine DL would be similar, transfer but with some sort of re-verification—hopefully not the whole process redone.
 
Mine finally got accepted on the third attempt. For verification I had to upload my photo (again) and my DL (again).
 
I have the CA Digital DL on their app but am still waiting for the verification process to complete - it has been over 2 hours since I submitted it.... how long does it take normally?
 
I tried earlier this morning and got the email saying they needed further verification, and as I was filling out the additional verification I received an email saying my application was rejected (before completing the submission of the further verification), and then I submitted it, and after a few minutes I then received a notification from the Wallet app saying that more information was needed, and when I clicked on that it brought up the same online form for additional verification that I had already filled out. Then a few minutes later I got another notification from the Wallet app that the application could not be processed at this time. Then I waited about 30 minutes and started the process all over again and it's just been stuck on "verification in progress" for the last 2 hours (no request for further verification so far this time though). Anyone else in the same boat?

I have been able to use the mDL app to verify myself for my zoo pass. high tech? nope, but when they scan my zoo pass they have let me use my mDL as my ID.
 
Im really annoyed that it hasn't show up for me yet in wallet. ive been using mDL app since it launched public beta.

OK, so I started doing this this morning and then it prompted me to set up the California DMV app I did that got approved within two minutes maybe it was just me being impatient but my drivers license in the Wallet app on my iPhone wasn’t updating. It still showed the continue button to open the link to enroll in the digital wallet which I already did. So I deleted it from my Apple wallet and started it over then I got an email to update my passport when I got home. I had to get a new link for that submitted my passport then I wasn’t seeing anything changed so I deleted it from the Wallet app and started over again. Honestly, I’m just not used to seeing anything in the Wallet app take longer than a couple minutes. I ended up deleting the DMV wallet app and reinstalling it. I’ve submitted my ID. After submitting my passport, I checked the status and it showed that it’s approved – provisioning. Then it said continue steps in the DMV Wallet app to agree to the terms and if I’ve already done that, then I’m good to go. Well, after about 20 minutes of my Apple wallet still not updating I deleted it from Apple and dmv app. It’s been like 15 minutes and they still haven’t accepted it in the DMV app which is weird. I’ve submitted my ID again in the Apple wallet app and it just says that it’s waiting to be verified.
 
Just got mine approved, looks like they got overwhelmed in the morning and ironed out some issues

I used it when checking a bag on Southwest at SJC, I realized I had forgotten my wallet so my wife was driving it to me before I went through security

They definitely had a rough launch day. haha I had just signed up for the mobile driver's license in the DMV app a week or so ago since I wasn't sure if adding it to your Wallet app would be as simple as just linking your DMV account or something. When I signed up on the DMV app everything was approved instantaneously with minimal verification. It's odd that you have to jump through so many more hoops to add it to the Wallet app after the DMV has already approved the mobile driver's license in their own app.

Yeah, seriously and now I’m still not approved in the DMV app again because I deleted it originally to see if re-adding it to that would help!
