iPhone Driver's License Support Expands to More Californians

Yeah what I'm never going to do ever is unlock my phone and wave it in the face of a police officer at any time for any reason. They can have my plastic licence card and my phone stays locked in my pocket.

Edit: Lmao at the disagreement with this. It's my personal freedom to choose not to use a digital ID. I thought y'all loved freedom? 🤔

Open mouth until phone vibrates? I get looking left and right but why open mouth…? PS - first attempt didn’t work due to system error

Definitely a consideration.

I wish there were a way to unlock the wallet and keep the phone locked.

Mine took about 40 mins. Now that it’s active, it’s underwhelming. You can’t access a visual copy of your ID (i.e buying alcohol and showing ID so they can scan your barcode), it only allows you to double click to scan via NFC, unless I’m doing it wrong?

Target accepts a digital pic of my ID and works with their scanners. I’m old but still nice to be asked for ID lol

I still have not gotten anything regarding verification and I signed up at 10:30 this am.. I thought about trying to cancel and try it again...

If you actually understood the process, you wouldn't have said that. You do know that you can also add it to your Apple watch. Would you have to physically give the police your watch? Of course not. It's all in the process. As I'm sure you know, there is no image of your DL in the wallet app. Hmmmm.

Trepidation here. The state of policing is pretty out of control in the US. They don't even know what the fourth Amendment is in most cases. I hope there are pretty strict regulations re protecting people's rights if the police see this as a way to potentially take possession of someone's unlocked phone. I wish I had more confidence but I suspect we'll see cases of police misusing this under the pretext of "investigations".

Finally fixed it. I had to reset the settings in my iPhone to get it to appear. Kinda sucked having to reset notifications but I guess something got messed and now my phone is working better.
