My iPhone 17 Pro is $57/mo on iPhone Upgrade Program. The iPhone Duo is $57.99/mo on the Apple Upgrade Program. I think I'm going to do it. The new Kid Cue feature sherlocked the SmileCue app I was working on for launch, but I've got some other ideas—especially after seeing the video of it in action—so I want to use it for development. Then I can also write it off on my US business taxes, especially since you can take a 40% depreciation in year one now.

It is a lot more interesting to me than I thought it would be, mostly all of the form factors you can use it in. That is inspiring some design ideas for apps. The thing that sucks is the new iPhone Pro camera system is so much better, and I'm a bit of a photo nerd, getting a minor in photography in college and doing some professional photography earlier in my career. I'll miss the telephoto lens for sure, especially for my kid's soccer games (and that new focus tracking AI feature on the iPhone 18 Pro), but I also have a Sony a7R III and 100-400mm GM lens, so I think I'll manage. If anything it's a good excuse to bust out the professional gear more often, although I do feel like a bit of a douche when I use it at kid's games, and yet I felt wholly inadequate back when I would occasionally score a press pass on the sideline shooting SEC college football games, next to $14,000 600mm bazooka-sized lenses.

No, will use my 12 pro until it dies.

I went from a 6 plus to the 12 pro, the plus never fit into my smaller handbags, and the screen size was nearly the same on the physically smaller 12 pro. Can’t imagine fitting the duo in small bags and pockets.

As a previous skeptic of the Duo, I was pleasantly surprised with what I saw - the <$2000 starting price, the cameras, the battery life etc. All of the concerns I had were pretty much put to rest with Apple's presentation.

Going to go for the 18 PM though, the increased battery life on that sold it and if I'm honest the Duo still looks a little silly being used as a phone when folded due to its dimensions. Will keep the 18 PM until next September and likely get the rumored "Anniversary" iPhone, or maybe the Air 2 if it improves on certain areas.

But I was pleasantly surprised and I can see the appeal for many.

I really like it and have been expecting for years. It does seem to have a few drawbacks compared to 18 Pro:
- no variable aperture main camera
- no optical telezoom camera for longer distance
- high price (you can get both iPhone 18 Pro AND an iPad for the same price and perhaps a better combo in it)

All positions looked great and the pen use sounds good. Tough call tbh.

Looking at the 1TB 18PM. With the trade-in on my 17PM, it’ll be like $5 a month. Hopefully the next Duo will have a better camera. 😊

The glossy hole punch on the all matte screen would drive me nuts after seeing the videos. I wonder if it’s that obvious in hand. There will be short comings no doubt once people start to get these being a first gen.

I’m so bored with the regular iPhones now after all these years. 2009 was my first iPhone
Tried the Samsung fold 4 few years ago and it was exciting but missed iOS
So I’m well up for a change and something new to experiment with and getting a new experience
Getting the 18 pro max will feel like the same phone as my 17pm……again

A 2TB 18 Pro Max is $2499. A base Duo is $1999. Yes the pricing is right there for both phones in the same ridiculous ballpark unless you're being pedantic.

I'm still getting a Duo. Probably the 512 since I've not ever filled up 512 previously. As a content creator different priorities.

I wasn’t being pedantic as I was comparing like for like, not the biggest storage tier of one versus the smallest of the other. I’ll stick with a 16 Pro Max and an iPad Air so it’s not even a concern for me.

I use telephoto too much at my kids sporting events. I just can't sacrifice the camera. If they figure that part out in the future then I may re-consider.

I doubt I'll get it, but seeing it is pretty cool. Can't wait to see it in person sometime.

I'd rather just have my iPad + normal iPhone. And I'm keeping my 17 for a good while.

Thought it would be £2500+ easily but it’s totally changed my mind. Years of the same form factor might come to an end, been an iPhone owner since 2007. Think I’m ready to evolve.

My main worry now is being able to secure one at pre order. How many are being made?

There is something that doesn't click with the concept of a folding iphone. Iphones have historically been simple and streamlined, and the idea of a folding device is kind of contradicting this. Add the outrageous price, and I join the "this will be a fail" crowd.

I am 100% in. I work in IT so this will be so much better for productivity for me. RDP really sucks on even an iPhone max so I'm hoping it will be much better on the Duo (amongst other work related tasks).

100%, I am sad we have to wait another 6 weeks to Pre Order though!! I wonder if they will send the email to prepare for preorder a few days ahead of time on 10/16 (I havent seen a email yet even for the 18 Pro) so we can select our configuration a few days ahead of time.

Trading my 17P towards it and purchasing outright unless my carrier has a AT&T promo like they do for the fold 8 lol going for cocaine white with the sand apple case

I’m in also, but I think we get that promotional credit when we do AT&T next up, so 799 off regardless, the model I want would bring my cell price down back to 50 bucks and I can do that.
