- Nano texture inner screen – All the videos/hands on I've seen show the screen being quite washed out
- Fragility of inner screen
- 2 cameras only
- Touch ID and not Face ID. This feels like a step back when they touted Face ID as better and being more secure during iPhone X.
- Gen 1 product with no real life usage to test yet

Leaning towards just getting the 18PM.

Foldables will probably normalize that.

It looks very good to me. I think durability is the one thing that I will need to see before I commit, because I tend to keep my phones for a few years. So for me I will probably skip this year, but maybe, just maybe, next time. It'll be basically my first high-end iPhone since the 6S was out. Since then I've always gotten older models or the base non-Pro.

Count me in! I am excited about the iPhone Duo.

The Duo's interesting for sure! It looks just quirky enough to fascinate.

Since it's mechanical and not creaseless (higher likelihood of disappointment over time), not a tool (doesn't pay itself back), not an investment (doesn't appreciate in value), and not essential (so discretionary), I guess I could start putting a bit of money aside for it every month after those more important things and see if it's still desirable (as judged by reviews, user experiences, potential availability of a second generation model, etc) when I have saved enough to buy it outright to be a third place device.

Count me in for a definite we'll see!

The Apple events selling the dream, while we choke on the reality. New chip gets upgraded thermal management, check. Hopefully no more hand warmer. New super camera ? The bulk of everyone’s camera roll is stuffed with selfies and unedited family video.
White balance diddling and Ansel Adam’s the masses are not.
Same camera argument was used on the first iPad Pro, who’s size and weight was like walking around with a view camera.
The Duo pushed out till October, fine with me. The masses will order the 18, with only the die hards willing to wait six more weeks. And by then the return window on the 18 will snap shut.
The dual screens will give me more real estate then an max and even help with photo framing. Better battery life and a new cell modem. I actually think when they get the pen online the iPad will stay home on business trips.
Folders don’t sell ? Tell Samsung they’re on their 8th iteration
I’ll lease the Duo for a year but will know in less then a week if it’s the next daily driver (for me). If not, return and order an 18.

I wasn’t being pedantic as I was comparing like for like, not the biggest storage tier of one versus the smallest of the other. I’ll stick with a 16 Pro Max and an iPad Air so it’s not even a concern for me.

Yeah it’s not really fair to compare the highest pro max to the base model Duo as if you’re gonna get either one you’re likely going to want or need a certain storage, and whatever you choose will have a significant difference price wise, but for me I no longer care about having the latest device, I got my 17PM last November and I’m happy with it, not looking to fork over more than I already paid for a phone that I just don’t see as a huge upgrade

The Iphone 18 Pro and Pro Max have better cameras but to be honest I wouldn't know how to use half of the features. I am not sure when and how to use a aperture or the different pro modes. The only thing I would miss is the optical zoom.

I really want to, but 2200 minimum for me (want more than 256) makes it pretty tough to swallow.

I am currently battling my desire to stop being on my phone so much with my desire to own cool new tech I find interesting. My guess is I will end up being sensible and just enjoying it from afar.

Err, nope.

While it’s admittedly a neat but now an old idea, it’s very poor value and a great example of Apple simply thinking they can get you to buy anything for any cost from them. If they dazzle you enough they think you’ll forget basic addition.

It’s around the same price as other foldables…

I hated the new UI and asymmetry. I was expecting something more clean, like the shift like from iOS to iPadOS. What a letdown.

However, they haven’t done nearly enough, and the cost is way too high for what it is, in order for me to be interested. I’m still about two years away from wanting an upgrade and we’ll see how the world looks then but a device with two screens just won’t enter into it for me.

Honestly, after realizing I couldn't use it like an iPad and seeing how they've ruined iOS, I don't think it's as great a device as you imagine.
