Ok, running 2.0.2 (iPhone 3G White)

- An extremely long update process (your in for a 1hr+ backup process)
- Everything seems faster and more tuned
- Updated with applications installed using 2.0.1, all are still working/launching (70+)
- No noticeable change(s) to 3G connectivity
- No noticeable change(s) to iPhone OS’ settings panel
- No, Copy & Paste does not exist in 2.0.2, no matter how good the PS skills
- No push

R-Fly

Copy & Paste will be available with iPhone OS 3.0 next year. :D:p

EDIT - WOW! Apple really ****ed up with the iPhone 3G.

Welp, calls are still dropping ... it takes 2 - 3 times to get a call to go through. 3G still comes and goes and signal strength is still wild.

/me goes back to waiting for next update *sigh*

Right now, I am thankful I don't have a 3G iPhone.

lol. I was telling my father the sameeee thing. ;)

My iPhone is still lacking the ability to scan for life-signs and dilithium. Is anyone else having this problem?

Most awesome comment EVER.

Updated, everything seems fine, phone is fast & responsive. I have 5 bars where typically i have 3-4. chance or not, i cant say.

I wonder if i can look forward to sluggishness & frequent reboots? Or maybe a semi-solid platform.

It's taking so long to backup : ( and people keep calling. Going a little crazy, about an hour since i started updating

Are you using a USB 1.0 port? Such as the USB port on the back of mac keyboards? There's no way it could take that long. My backup took a few seconds.

Problem with 2.0.2

After long update all my Apps crash and don't work, I have deleted from iPhone all the Apps (About 25 Apps) and I am synching again with iTunes I hope it'll work...

Installation took some time but went fine.

Downside is my 3G problems still persist - no 3G reception at all - here in Germany with a 100% coverage by T-Mobile :-( Hope the next fix will bring a boost to my connectivity

thank god i dont have an iphone 3G. i mean yeah i dont have fast cellular service but from what ive been hearing sounds like they dont even have service neway and they have to revert back to edge so i dont see much of a loss with the first gen (other than gps which i dont really need). even with gps missing i think the iphone 2G is way better.

This update DRASTICALLY improved the Google Maps application (more specifically, the ability to lock on to your posistion with a real GPS signal, as apposed to the "General Area Blue Circle" that would appear most of the time.)

I'm assuming this is all behind the scenes bug fixes for true turn-by-turn voice GPS applications, such as the one coming from TomTom.

Also, didn't Apple release a new CoreLocation API recently allowing better usage of the GPS such as direction, speed, etc?

Everything seems to be falling into place; I don't know about anyone else but I really believe a TomTom GPS-app will make this phone unbeatable.

Been running 2.0.2 for a few hours on my iPhone 3G. Overall it seems snappier. Have not had a crash yet using Safari or any of the applications. Everything seems to be working properly.

No 3G in this area (NH is supposed to get it in Oct/Nov), but EDGE reception appears to be the same (3-5 bars in my condo). The big test reception wise will be tomorrow at work, where I typically get 1 or maybe 2 bars depending on how many inches away from the window I am and whether I am breathing at the moment.

Thanks for sharing, but that's not what we are discussing here.

Wooo....Another update. After installing and checking everything, no difference, again, in the suckiness of my 3G reception. I'm in a 3G area and used to get great 3G coverage with my RAZR v3xx, but now, still nothing. I don't see any improvements in anything else either.

I'm ready for 2.1 now please! Granted, I need to return my iPhone and exchange it for the fifth time. This one does nothing when I try to connect to WiFi, no matter how many troubleshooting and reseting and restoring techniques I try, it doesn't work. I'm guessing a faulty chip. Honestly.......

push notifications

I updated to 2.0.2 and i have push notifications now (i think). Does anyone else have this?

I notice significantly faster EDGE data speeds

nationalgeographic.com loaded in 35 seconds for me over EDGE (using iphone 3g)

as opposed to the 59 seconds Apple stated at WWDC

that's a massive improvement.

I have a 1st gen iphone. Still on v2.0.1 and tested it over EDGE. I got 38 seconds. First time I've tested it so can't compare to any other revisions.

Ehhhh... My GPS says my house is in the middle of the Courtney Cambell Causeway... which happens to be about 20 miles south. :(

3G signal is still crap, but mine now switches very quickly to Edge. If I only have one bar of 3G, it switches, within seconds, to Edge. This didn't happen before the update. Maps does seem faster. The lag is back in contacts!
