I've thought about it. I've looked at the picture. It has the 'Apple' vibe eminating off of it. I hope to god it's not it though. My cellphone's main menu uses icons. OS X uses icons. Icons are the way to go. This phone uses menus. Menus are NOT the way to go. That's why Windows is moving away from menus. I would be shocked if Apple went back to menus. Sure, their iPod uses menus, but it shouldn't if they can help it!

next, the keypad. It's razr-esque, but I don't like it. Why not make it a touch-sensative OLED keypad broken up into keys. this way, it could function as either a scroll-wheel OR a number pad.

SIM card, battery, I can live without seeing how to replace them. I'm sure apple can hide a cover if they want to (especially in a picture!). I even like the name, but the interface looks ugly, and those big round buttons between the keypad and LCD, OMG what are they thinking?

iCall > iChat Mobile

*nod*

I like the way unlike all the other "i" things, this one actually makes sense - a subject and a verb. Nice :)

Uber

EDIT: iChat makes sense too. My bad

"Stay Close From Far Away"??? Kids may be able to Photoshop, but that doesn't mean they can write believable ad copy.

Good one. Plus, and I think this is the most glaringly obvious omission, there is no elevator involved! ;)

iPhone video

Theres a mockup of the iChat Mobile phone on YouTube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v520U3vS2iI

The display is obviously fake, and I believe it says "iPhone" on the top-center of the fake screen.

Also this mockup appears to be concave shaped, but the print image appears to be completely flat across the face. Plus the keypad buttons are membrane buttons in the video and appear flat in the print image.

Fun fun fun!

I think it's fake. If it is a fake that is a very good fake. If it is real I wouldn't mind purchasing that bad boy.

Personally I believe that the iPhone will be a re-edited version of an existing A) Palm Treo (which is built by HTC) - or a unique design. or B) Something built by Nokia.

I dont believe that any other manufacture has the resources & development patience & folly to make an exclusive contract design with Apple. Motorola well we all know how they raped other manufacturers (Siemens for one). Samsung is a contender and their making esquisite phones like the SGH-D900; but their so inbedd with M$ that I doubt it'll happen.

The "iChat Mobile" had to be fake -- my brother works for a delivery company and was dropping some boxes off at the Moscone Center. While he was in the storage/delivery room, he saw a poster for the "iPhone" (apparently named the iCall) lying out on the floor, so he snapped a couple quick pictures with his (admittedly crappy) cameraphone.
Hahaha. Good stuff good stuff :p

When apple finally comes out with this, it better be a full 30gb or 60gb ipod with a phone. I don't see why they wouldn't want to put it all in one.

Could be a weight thing.Phone gets nano combo for lightness, battery life and durability of memmory, and 40/80/100gig video ipod is seperate.

Looks like a Photoshopped Front Row remote, possibly an iPod nano.
I hope it's a fake. Though it looks cool, the ergonomics of using that as a phone look akward at best.

omigosh this means apple has used technology to make the ichat mobile paper thin and hollow in the inside! ::goes to grab wallet::

im just kidding of course =|

Well that is true but some of their phones aren't crippled and you can always put the Sprint or Altell firmware(many V3 owners are using this) on the phone. Then again the LG Chocolate seems to be even more of a step in the right direction. But if this phone comes out it might actually be one of those unlocked GSM phones with no carrier.
Yes, I know you can flash to Alltell or Bell, haven't heard of any Sprint flashes. I live on HowardForums, I know. :D Also, what phones aren't crippled, besides the Nokia 6256i?

How, in your opinion, is the Chocolate "a step in the right direction?"

Apple will not make a Clamshell folding phone. Apple's designs value Simplicity and Elegance. Something this phone has and a folding phone lacks. Although I dont like the shuffle type buttons, the rest of the phone is simple and elegant.

Compare the design to this folding phone

Personally I think J Ive has some competition with that one.

I could easily live with that though.. I dont think many would be happy with a touch screen interface for dialing. I already have that so i'm used to it, but some will hate that!

And the scroll thing on the inside seems a little werd...

Introducing... The iPhone Video - Apple revolutionizes technology with a new design for phones that uses a rotary "wheel" to dial phone numbers.

This stunning innovation on a generally bland 12-key layout is exactly what the world expects from Apple, one of the most innovative companies in the near galaxy.

Users will drag the numbers around the wheel until it reaches the stop, which signifies that they wish to dial that number. Apple has not yet addressed how users will dial "#" or "*" but has said that despite the lack of lettering, they feel users will have "no problem text-messaging anyways."

The iPhone Video incorporates a Phone, MP3 Player, and Movie Player into one device. It will be available in stores August 15th for a mere $600.

Sony Ericsson CEO Miles Flint countered that "[The iPhone Video] is horrendous! I'd be mortified if someone saw me carrying one down the street. Who will be able to afford it anyways? Even I can't justify spending that much on a phone!" Spokespeople from rival companies Nokia, and Samsung voiced similar thoughts, adding that "This technology is not new or innovative, anyone who's older than 25 remembers rotary phones." Apple's target audience is "anyone under 25."

HOW MUCH!!!

Haha that was a good laugh. The Steve picture made me laugh out loud!

one overlooked thing in this love fest would be hopefully that you could update your Applecellphone with "software update" so you have the latest firmware and not some year old poop that seems to occur with Nokia, Ericsson and (anyone buy them?) Motorola phones nowadays and service centres being unhappy at just flashing them for flashing sake.
