So, what are the odds that they tell us about the SDK next week, but it won't actually be available for several weeks :)

If they add Exchange support, my life will be 1000 times better. It's almost impossible to read and respond to email using the web interface to exchange on the iphone.

I hope that Steve won't be a dick to us and make us pay for the damn apps. I think that if apple let them be free their stock would benefit. People would then actually have a legit reason to get the phone. Maybe reaching the 10 million goal?

so you expect Developers to just, give them away for free???

Sounds like a great idea? How much did you pay for Leapard? MS Office?

I think people may be reading the picture backwards. Enterprise is the first thing, then SDK and then update (this must be 1.1.4). We have done all these steps already. That map is drawn. The next announcement will be apps that I presume will be from big names like google.

okay first off apple has a lot of third party apps, for leopard and they are Mostly all FREE... so why would the iphone be any different....

I'm so dissapointed, I stayed up till 1 am to make sure they wouldnt release it late. I wish they had released it yesterday, because I know once its released and apps come out then the phone will be 100000X better.. I want customizer on the iphone, it lets you change the text message bubble color, what the slider image is, and more options for double tapping the home butto ex: calling a specific number

Crave and Reuters reports that Apple has sent out invitations for an event on Thursday morning detailing the iPhone SDK:

So that means Tablet right?

Sounds to me that the "State of the iPhone" may include an announcement about the version 2 iPhone being checked by the FCC.

This would make some of you happy and some of you very unhappy.

Very good chance there will be announcement with a target range of dates when they expect it to go on sale.

enterprise does sound very very worrying, like we are going to have to pay for these apps!

Maybe they are going after Palm and BlackBerry at least to some degree.

Yes I expect to be paying for all 3rd party and some selected Apple programs. This is just like having a Palm or BlackBerry, no surprise there. Those programs usually have a price range of 6 to 40 dollars.

Expect Apple will charge and that distribution will be iTunes.

Long time Reader, First Time Poster.

I think Apple will release the SDK and 802.11X support with Exchange support. 802.11X support would match up with the current news that apple is working to better integrate with Colleges and with classrooms. I know the colleges around here use 802.11X. It would also match up with the College earlier showing the integration of the iphone with Apps. The SDK i think will be open t o everyone, but to get your app on Itunes it must pass a rigorous set of instructions so that it doesn't break ur phone (Maybe). Exchange also for the Enterprise support. Finally, Updates on the road map may be 1.1.5 allowing for 3rd Party Apps since most of the bug fixes were released today

This is totally awesome: just imagine the possibilities!

about SDK

Does this mean that they will be releasing the SDK kits or is this an informational meeting?

There should be a list of possible programs for the iphone

OMG OMG

I really want to see some apps announced alongside this (Slingbox, and iChat). Overall this is good news that we did not go unnoticed. Looks like it will be March, not February.

Seriously, what is causing Apple to miss all of its deadlines recently?

Taking time to read all the complains.

Just sent this...

Just got this in an email from a close buddy of mine out in CA. The SDK must be ready for sure.;)

Funny how the same elevator is always left open for people to find this stuff in.:D

I find it hard to believe that Apple will force developers to sell their apps. They don't do this with podcasts (which take a good amount of time and work to produce), so I doubt they'll do the same with applications.

I see (and respect) what you're saying, but something tells me this will be a little different. Honestly, I probably don't have any idea what I'm talking about, but it sounds as though Apple is going to have to do some quality control on these applications (to make sure they're void of any destructive coding) before they allow developers' apps to be hosted (on what I'm assuming will be iTunes). This could possibly allow Apple to charge for each individual application, regardless on whether or not the developer originally wanted the app to be free.

Mind you, of course I hope I'm wrong, because obviously I'd rather the apps be free :)
