lol 399 Euro is currently $615 US.
Why not just have someone in the states buy it and ship it and save $200

Why buy an iPhone now with 399 Euros when you'll be able to buy a nice car in the US with it in only a year from now? :D

to keep this updated i just read an article in the local news paper from yesterday about the launch

guess how many phones they had for launch day in t-mobile stores in Vorarlberg:

20

and the article claimed that "the 16GB models are already sold out" ... wow what a feat with 20 devices (including both sizes)

What development? The iPhone for Australia does not need to be different from the UK version. GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) is a worldwide standard and iPhone is quad band.

However, what Apple does need to do is negotiate with Australian carriers. That's the only reason that holds back iPhone's availibility in Australia (and all other countries except Japan and Korea).

why have i been quoted for something i didnt say?? im already aware that it doesnt need to be changed from the UK versions. all that it is now is for SOMEBODY to man up and give australia a decent offer.. telstra and optus wont because apple wants too much of the share in profits blaablaa.

quite angry i am i wish they could just realase on no plan on it and we get to choose who we want to go with.

Fav Fives?

So does anywhere outside the US have the Fav Fives on T-Mobile? I'm on T-Mobile in the US right now and I LOVE the Fav Fives. Just wondering if it is also outside the US and how the iPhone has you select your Favs?

Is there a list (or history) of countries where the iPhone has been released? Or maybe a shorter list of where it hasn't been released:
Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Iraq. ;)

Yes, at least in Germany. It´s called My Faves but no, you can´t add any additional option to the iPhone "complete" Plans...

Congrats to all the new iPhone owners, I'm glad you guys could join us finally!

Have fun with your new shiny toys! :apple:

That's a nice upbeat message :)

BTW we might get the Beatles on out iPhones / iTunes soon ... now Heather has been 'settled'. Oh, I guess we should all take a few moments of silence to grieve for poor Lady McCartney who only got about $50M and says she and her daughter will be forced to fly coach on her 5 annual vacations. My heart bleeds for her ...

i haven't read any comments yet, but i bet the canadians are pissed . . . sorry, my northerly brothers and sisters, i don't know why the steve won't show you the love . . .

Don't think Steve is to blame, I am sure he would like to sell some more iPhones, no matter were. I assume it simply goes by carrier negotiations, if they agree on terms quickly the iPhone can be sold and if not, well other markets come first.

I thought the problem with canada was the trademark. iPhone is already trademarked up there so they can't sell it as that.

3c per minute? You must be talking about prepaid.. no company in Austria dares to charge 3c per minute :D

Thus said, I don't see many people shelling out EUR 55,- per month. With 4000 minutes, that's obviously a business plan, but the iPhone is not a business phone (yet).

So, how do the Swisscom iPhone rates look? Is that known yet?

Austria is one of the most saturated and developed cell phone markets in Europe and many people there, not even just young people, even give up their landlines and DSL connections because calling as well as 3G data rates have become incredibly cheap.

Yep, that's what I wanted to say :)

Due to the highly developed cell phone markets in Austria, even the basic plan of 39 Euros per month seems a bit too expensive (compared to other plans in Austria). I know, everyone pays more than we do, and I'm almost shocked about the prices in Germany and the US (I'm living the Austrian standards  ), but those offered plans are too expensive IMO and there should be some other possibilities. Only using EDGE, I really don't need 3GB/month download volume. I would use the EDGE opportunity for basic boredom-elimination-browsing or harvesting information about tickets for a movie or something like that. Apart from watching big sized quicktime files from sites like gametrailers.com (boredom-elimination-browsing :D), I cannot think of any other reason for a bigger download that I couldn't put off until I'm eather near a wi-fi spot or at home. Well that's my opinion.

Anyway, I'm glad that the iPhone is available in Austria, even if it's becoming obsolete in 3 months when Steve Jobbs announces the new iPhone 2, iPhone Pro, iPhone Nano, iPhone Shuffle and iPhone Air at the WWDC 08 :D

G'day mates :D

<shameless plug> you can find the details of where the iphone has been launched on my blog, www.IrelandinBeta.com also has details of all the different pricing and plans across the countries!</shameless plug>

holding out for the 3G iphone here, hopefully its out in Ireland before November as my mobile contract ends then.

Swisscom is probably going to wait until the 3G version of the iPhone is released. I recently read a study claiming that there are so many unlocked iPhones in Switzerland that it's unlikely that there are people left who want one but don't have one yet...
