Let me get the trollish Android lot comments out of the way:
"Meh, the iPhone 5S is the same as the 5"

"The XXXXX phone had this feature 3 years ago"

"That's another thing they have copied from Android"

"Overpriced garbage"

"iSheep go baaa!"

"Where's the SD card slot and removable battery?"

"Lol it hasn't got quad core"

"Safari feels sna..." Oh wait, wrong bunch, sorry ;)

You forgot tiny screen, toy os, and they still haven't fixed Maps!

I'm sure the Sept 10 date was planned well ahead. But this 'early' leak could be a controlled one. Usually Apple doesn't like advanced leak of an event date like this because it cut into the sales on current version of the devices as more potential customers will hold on to wait for the new one.

I doubt that. It's more likely they planned this date some time ago. Apple doesn't respond to rumours, let alone create media events to react to them.

It's still less than a year since the iPhone 5 launch.

Hopefully unlocked phones will be available the same time the others are released for a change. I'm done with doing 2 year contracts.

Yep. That's what I wanted to hear.

I guess this is a direct response from Apple to the rumor regarding Apple board's concerns with regard to the pace of innovations. Expect big surprises at the event.

Surprises? New iPhone, budget iPhone, iPad refresh.. hardly surprising.

Im calling it here:

It will have a pointless processor upgrade. The phone is already fast enough.
Dual LED - for those who care (could be ok)
12 MP Camera
Some proprietary hardware sensor that only the 5S will have (Finger print?)
Same screen, but they will boast that is has a higher contrast ratio "more colors".

Thats about it. Slight upgrade from the 5 realistically, and next year will be a larger phone.

You could say the same thing about every Android Phone, every car, every computer, every camera, etc.

I mean if Apple comes out with a larger screen, that's not going to be touted as innovation (nor should it be)

Sooner or later, technology hits a plateau and we're there with cell phones.

Why is it that you guys are always 'confirming' with Dalrymple what other sources tell you.

I mean I can probably answer with a yep or nope depending on what source you guys are confirming with as much accuracy as him.

Unofficially they kind of were last year. When I got mine I opted to pay full price initially.

I'm with you on that one though. Definitely done with 2 year contracts.

He has an inside relationship with Apple. He has never been wrong.

Yes he has been, less than others, but he is not always right.

He is always 'confirming' things, why can't he then actually give a rumor himself instead of confirming one, because when he does say something that other sources haven't then like last time he gets it wrong. ;)

Strike! September 10th is marked at my calendar for weeks now.

Let's see which venue is choosen by Apple this time. At Moscone Center there is an Intel convention from 09/10 to 09/12. Another two locations left:

- Yerba Buena Center for the Arts
- Apple Campus Town Hall

I think the latter would indicate just a product upgrade i.e. no iPhone 5C.

Daily checking YBCA calendar for event updates now... :D

Anyone else not excited at all for a marginally new iPhone in addition to a cheaper one? Apple events are blah!
