ALSO: USE DARK MODE!!! I think this change alone + using a dark wallpaper + lock screen should automatically add 10-20% SOT to your normal usage.
It took me quite a while, but I finally managed to get a pure black jpg to use as wallpaper. Goodbye notch! As a plus, battery life may be better.

Absolutely love mine. Have had it for 24 hours with zero issues. I love the form factor... didn't realize just how much I missed smaller phones until using this. Now my only worry is that Apple will dump the mini version at some point in the future (I was burned by the death of the iPad Mini several years ago!) :)

iPad mini 5 is still available....I don’t think they’ll dump the iPhone Mini anytime soon.

Alright.. is that normal that slow-motion camera is flickering? Even when I change it into the front camera. Other camera options are smooth. I don't understand that :O. Thanks in advance guys.
Slow motion mens more frames per seconds, which captures less light per frame, and it also captures the flickering from LED light sources (which is typically unperceivable to naked eye)

I charged to full last night, 2 hours of screen time today, and the battery is at 95%. Admittedly, I'm a light user these days but that is excellent. I never trust iPhones to give me the right percentage (they grade on a strange curve) so I hooked it up to CoconutBattery which said 90.4%. Even so, darned good!

You know the iPhone comes with a black wallpaper right? It’s been there since iOS 12 or 13

Does anyone know if OLED also saves battery if the colour is a shade of grey vs for example white? Asking since some apps in dark mode (Facebook) don't have real black background it's more a a shade of grey so does it spend less battery than white for example?

It does but not as well as pure black, of course. White on oled is generally less efficient than white on lcd displays as well. For what it’s worth, and with my specific usage, dark mode gets me about 8% more battery vs light mode throughout a full day. I also find I have to turn the brightness up a bit in dark mode apps vs light mode or I get image retention (my eyes, not the screen) using dark mode so that negates some of the battery savings for me. (8% was for 11 pro, haven’t had the mini long enough to get good numbers)

You have dark mode available on Facebook now? I’ve been waiting for that, but still not getting that update on mine.

Not my Mini. While searching for it, I did find black wallpaper from older iOS. But none in a jpg I could transfer, mostly html. While looking, I found comments that the resolution should match as well. Ultimately, not sure that matters but I found one with higher resolution than the Mini. Seems to work fine. Some apps still show the notch, others don't. I specifically tried YouTube and at least while playing a video full screen, does not. Not does Netflix.

I'm opening this thread for all those who bought the iPhone 12 Mini.

Is it what you wanted or are you finding it too small?

I was between mini and 12 , coming from a 6S, but i saw the slight reduction in the width as being a problem, since I already struggeld with the keyboard at times.

What are your impressions?
Returning mine. One-handed perfect, two-handed was quite childish. 😀 I'm also between those two sizes so I stayed with XS which has better battery and can go with me for a year at least. Next year I will figure it out - maybe mini gets better battery too.

Hard to imagine a significantly better battery. That said, I'm expecting to upgrade the 12 Mini to next year's Mini (four years since I bought my prior phone so this is not my norm). Much more efficient modem that will increase battery life and speed, and likely the usual but decreasing incremental gains in processor speed and efficiency and camera. While the better modem is reason enough, hoping for a touch ID power button. Not sure that will happen as then cases will all have an uncovered side of the case for the power button (unlike the iPad which is mostly used bare). A plus would be higher frequency PWM. While so far I don't seem to be sensitive to flickering OLED screens, I can't help but think that since there are those who are extremely sensitive, PWM may have health impacts on everyone even if you don't get headaches or eye strain.

True, batteries isn’t do any better these days. So at least it will be better with camera, I suppose that telephoto will be coming to 12 and 12 mini according to Kuo.

Do you have a link? My last info is that next year’s lineup will remain the same regarding dual vs triple camera.

Sorry, didn’t found it. Nobody knows what would happen in a year. But Pro models will definitely have better camera. Ideally I would love have the better camera system on mini but there are no room, I know.

From the initial reviews it seems 12/Pro get 80% of 11 Pro and the Mini is about 50% of 11 Pro. It seems 12PM is similar to 11 Pro.

Many reviewers are using year old 11 Pros to confuse matters.

For me I would ideally need 1.5-2x 11 Pro battery to be totally satisfied.
Yeah so now that I own both, I can confidently say my mini gets at least 75% of the battery life that my 11 Pro gets.

Yesterday I was at 47% when I plugged my mini in with 4½ hours SOT. My 11 Pro with that same usage would have been around 60%.

This sounds very good.

Have the 11 and was just longing for a smaller device. 12 mini seems pretty much spot on for me.

After using it a couple of days it is actually going back.

- Size is great.
- Battery life ok
- Feel in pocket is fantastic compared to the heavy 11.

Why sending back?
- Yellowish screen is a downer. Contrast is great though and the 11 look a bit un-contrasty and slightly pale compared to it. Picture quality is better on the 12 mini when compared head to head.
- Not much of an upgrade otherwise, 11 is still zipping through anything. Camera is not noticeably better to the point of it being important.
- 11s battery life is a lot better.
- Even though 12 minis screen is a bit better in some respects, the yellow tone, limited viewing angles puts me a bit off.
- And sending it back saves me 250 bucks compared to selling 11 and keeping it.

Will see how 13 mini does next year. 11 is also a great phone still.
Just about my thoughts. Can’t wait to see next year’s mini.
